I worked here for about a month, In my orientation, I was told that there is "Communication issues". with there being Koreans and owned by Hispanics I understood that but was Okay with taking the job. It started well I was learning new things everyone was kind to me. Then one day a little girl and her father came up to me asking me for a product the women that was training me tried talking over me but I ended up showing them exactly where the product was. The little girl said weave but I knew she meant braiding crochet hair. I showed her and her father to both places and was Thanked by them. She (My coworker) was upset at me because I didn't let her show the customers where the product was and didn't allow them man to take time to show her a photo of it. I Stood my ground she got upset and since then it went into a downfall. She was ranting about it to customers because she was "bored" The owner and manager heard it and didn't say anything about it. After the manager wanted to explain that my attitude was bad and "Negative" When a flower doesn't bloom do you blame the flower or the environment? That I was late (Which I take accountability for I told him I didn't have transportation some days) He replied wasn't his problem. daily feeling ran over. Not feeling understood but trying to understand others & was on being called A dumbass and b**ch in Spanish like I couldn't understand by the owner(s) & their daughter. I kissed a lot of people's butts while working here. He says the younger generation is the problem when there are older people rude & stuck in their ways. read more

large selection of various products. I HATE coming here because they watch you like a hawk. I wanted to purchase a small bottle of hair glue for .99 cents. They kept it behind the counter, and when I wanted to pay at another register due to wanting to look at other products, they would not let me take it unless I paid for it there. I don't like being treated like I am there to steal a super cheap product. Will not be back at this store unless I can't find something at another chinese shop. read more

Let me be frank, this place is a little janky. But that's ok. I think they know it? Maybe? Definitely more sassy than classy, which I do not mind. It's the kind of place that has a ton of cheap junk, but the price is right. It's not like at a festival or a flea market where someone is trying to sell you plastic hair clips for 5 times what they are worth. BUT they also have better quality stuff & some pretty decent stuff for still, reasonable prices. It's also the kind of place that posts video surveillance stills of shoplifters on the walls. I'm guessing from that and other reviews that they deal with a lot of theft. I've gotten the side eye & followed around once ir twice. It doesn't really bother me but I understand that it can feel offensive to people. I don't really expect for the cashiers or even the purveyor to be able to give me professional advice or instruction on any of their products. That being said, I do love this place. They have tons of stuff. If you've ever been tempted to buy wigs off of Amazon or at a costume shop go here! They are affordable & you can feel them & see the quality. They look beautiful. They also have very vibrant hair color which is what brought me there. I almost always leave with more than I came for. read more

If I could give -50 stars I would. Let me start by saying that their customer service is horrible. If you call to get info, they hang up on you and I am assuming it's because of the language barrier. Then when I finally get someone on the phone, I ask if they had a certain product and they proceed to yell at the other workers throughout the store asking my question and when I asked about price, she told me that they don't give prices out over the phone. She lost a customer at that point and when I told her that, she said, "that's ok". Never patronizing that business again! read more

Lots of variety in hair, cosmetics, and overall beauty supplies. Very clean and orderly. Unfortunately, the staff was unfriendly.

I live 12 minutes from this store and come here for all of my hair care needs. But after getting stuck in Indianapolis 500 traffic with detours it took 2 hours to get here. We arrived 6 minutes before they closed just to be told at the door that we were too late. I recounted the traffic issues (which she knew about) and told her I would be out before the actual time that they closed at 6 and she refused to let me in. Told me she wanted to go home and they would be open tomorrow. I won't be back tomorrow or ever. read more

I love this beauty supply. In my opinion they are on of the best in Indy. They have a large supply of products, wigs, hair. They also have a braid center inside of store. Their hours are also really good and they stay open a bit later than other beauty supply providers in the area. I am always able to find what I came in for. The other negative I have is they do not have many of the products you would find in a Target or Walmart, which is cool but just a tip if you looking to do a one stop trip. Nevertheless I go out of my way to go to this beauty supply. read more

One word, Rude. I give an establishment the benefit of the doubt until you prove me wrong. Came in to buy an item I've came to buy before, so I pretty much knew where it was located. As I pause to check the aisle to make sure, a male worker loudly says excuse me, right on my heels for me to get out of his way and zooms past me . You can't do that to a customer. You wait or you go the other way. I literally paused before heading down the aisle. My money has worth and I don't frequent establishments who don't appreciate their customers. I won't be back. read more

This place may have most things, but the one thing they don't have is Customer Service. I guess they feel they don't need it since they have just about everything else. However no service is 0 (zero) stars from me and I will take my business elsewhere and stop sending others there. Let me explain if you say you are open until 9pm, don't lock the doors at 8:55pm. I live more than 45 minutes away from this place of business and there isn't any location that sells what I needed near. I didn't realize I ran low, so I tried to run and get it. I tried to explain this to the man at the door holding keys, I showed him on my mobile phone it was 8:56pm, I knew what I wanted and I was paying with a card and I screamed all of this through the door trying to get someone's attention and even asked for the owner or manager. I wouldn't have kept them past closing and come to find out it was still another customer in the store. So had they just serviced me they would have kept my business and I would have continued to send people there, but no more, you don't want my business because you refused to serve me during the timeframe you had posted on your door you were open for business, so Good Bye. read more

This place had everything. It's very organized and I had no problem finding what I needed. Prices were a little higher than I expected, but not too bad. read more

I always shop here because it has a wide selection of products at fair prices. Well two days ago I went there to return something as the product looked like it was a mixture of all their leftovers in a bottle.... I buy that often and know that it does not look like that when you open it. Anyways the owner/ boss was very rude. First off when the cashier told him the issue I had he just disappeared and waited for me to vanish. I stood there and waited for his return....kept ignoring....at last he came back and told me the same that we can't take it back without a receipt....well I understand....but....if you are selling a bad product at least exchange it....the staff and the owner are unfriendly and customer service is zero to none....Really don't want to go back... never seen a business which runs without customer service and manners.... read more

DJ's Beauty Supply will never get my business again. I purchased a flat iron there, took it home, plugged it in and within several minutes of me using it on a low setting, it had ripped out several healthy strands of my hair. I hated the way it gripped my hair, while the plates looked smooth, something about them was very damaging and not smooth on my strands. I unplugged it and repackaged it to return. Pursuant to the store's 30 day exchange policy, I bought the flat iron back to the store the next week, expecting to exchange it for another brand with no problems. When I arrived at the store, I immediately went to the checkout counter, receipt in hand and explained that I wanted to exchange the unit. After explaining to two employees, they sent the manager over. He asked the reason for the exchange, and I explained to him that I did not like the way it gripped my hair and that it ripped out several strands. While I am explaining this, he takes the flat iron out of the package and examines it and proceeds to plug it in. He asks for more clarification while staring at my hair, and says "it's because you have curly hair." Is that not the function of a straightener?? I told him I have had several flat irons that worked just fine on my hair texture. He called back to the wig department and asked them to bring a human hair wig so they can test it. I am seething at this point and tell him as calmly as I can that I do not care how it functions on the wig, I did not like the way it worked on my hair and would like an exchange in accordance with their policy. He very dismissively says "FIne go pick out another one." I go pick out another straightener, different manufacturer but the same price. As he is ringing me out he tells me that they tired the iron on the wig and there was nothing wrong with it. So, the problem is my hair?? I didn't even justify him with a response. I have never been put through so much for an even exchange within a store's return policy. His complete lack of respect for me as a customer was very blatant. I hope the new iron works out well for me because I will not be returning to this store. $35.00 is not worth being treated that way. read more

This was my first time visiting this beauty supply and I was not disappointed. Driving an hour to get here, I was pleased that it was not a wasted trip. The store is huge and they have a ton of varieties for African American hair. The selection included a large area for wigs (human and synthetic), braiding hair, virgin bundles and so much more! Best thing about it is that they're open on Sunday from 10 AM -6 PM! read more
