    Candles candles and more candles
    MM W.

In my quest to find the perfect candle I have begun trying various company including bath a d body works and for the record I really like the pumkin pecan candle. So I went to this location, which is located in Cross country in yonkers. And this is off the degan. And either the 4 train to the 20 bus or the 5 to Dyer ave and then the 55 bus. This location is small, and I believe this is a temporary location as construction is being completed on a permanent spot in this outdoor mall. While I was in this location looking a various candles there was a nice young lady named Keisha who assistant me with all the scents. And I appreciated her help. The store was pretty neat and organized as well but it is small I look forward to shopping here again once they move into their permanent spot.

Fluence is the new pop-up (manager[?] hopes for permanency) on Harwood Court in Scarsdale aiming at dressing up homes and offices with essential oils and diffusers. Jaime was all smiles (yes...I felt it even with her mask on) and talked about oil blends used in their products. The interesting diffuser collection varies depending on the room's square footage you're using it in. My sleek portable diffuser is enough for my bedroom (primarily)- but I can easily move it to our home office, living room, my vanity room, walk-in closet or any other area of the house with ease. Plus I can also gauge how strong or how long I want the oils to diffuse. I've been enjoying diffusing my Sage+Vanilla (and Lavender I think) oil blend before bedtime to help quiet my mind, relax my body and get me into a restful state so that I can fall asleep more easily especially- during these challenging times. This is an excellent addition in chic Scarsdale and a much needed one at that. My home is my sanctuary and I'm sure yours is too. You can use sprays...but why would you want all those harmful ingredients around you when you can destress with some aromatherapy?

I was curious since I couldn't imagine a store that only sold "scents'. While walking on Harwood Court, I saw the store and a stranger walked up to me and said, "you should check out that new store, it smells incredible". I decided to go inside and as soon as I walked in the door I felt like I was being seduced by the most incredible fragrances. I realized that Scents and Fluence might be the best remedy to staying at home during our ongoing pandemic. You can have the most stimulating scents or aromatic ones pumped into your home via your heating and air-conditioning systems. You might choose to buy individual room "scenters" that can give off little blasts of fragrances that might stimulate your teenagers to be more motivated as they zoom with their classmates. I ended up buying some amazing hand sanitizers with fragrances that came in both masculine and feminine scents. For me, I bought a Bamboo hand sanitizer that came in a cool little bottle for $6. I put some on when I got into my car and I was astonished by how the aroma filled the vehicle; I inhaled and felt almost giddy. The owner, Caroline Fabrigas, was kind enough to explain all the unique features of her store and how these scents can enhance your home or office. I would urge you to visit her store and explore how you can improve your lives and those of the members of your family. As soon as I tried my Bamboo hand sanitizer I began to call some of my friends and urged them to plan on visiting Scents & Fluence. I don't normally get so excited about a new store, let alone one that sells " fragrances " but as we are often stuck at home and with the prospects of another shutdown looming, I think Scents & Fluence might help make staying hone more pleasant and possibly even more inviting.

There is a book section, a perfume and lotion section, kids toys, and plentyof NYBG merchandise. You can buy bulbs and seeds inside the shop. Most items are priced on the higher side, but there are affordable trinkets if you're looking for souvenirs. This evening they had stations outside of the shop for hot chocolate and cookie decorating. On the other side of the park they have the Holiday Train Show. It's a beautiful time for a visit.

They have a large selection of plants, planters, gardening equipment, and plant themed art and items. Most things are high quality and genuinely nice - as opposed to a bunch of stress balls and mugs stamped with the NYBG logo. There was also a large book selection, mostly with art books and plant books. They also had themed office supplies, journals, candles, and a little bit of apparel. We visited NYBG for the Yayoi Kusama exhibition, and they had a section of the store specifically for Kusama items. They had a great Kusama book collection, along with other limited edition / moderately priced souvenirs. I wish they had a little more selection with the Kusama swag, but I was happy to get some polka dot socks and t shirt. The NYBG shop was a highlight of the gardens and I'll definitely be stopping in each time I visit! PS - NYBG members get 10% off!

There's a soft incense scent in the air mixed with bundles of sage and palo santo. Shelves have beautiful crystals: amethyst clusters- which I got one to bring to our new home in Westchester, there's rose quartz I think, citrine and a few others. Along with spiritual candles for relaxation or just creating a peaceful vibe. You'll also find handmade jewelry, small brass bells, lots of essential oils and other unique items that make it super easy to bring a little calmness into everyday life. But what really makes Custom C. special is the owner who's kind and easy to talk to. I wanted her advice on which Quartz to buy for bringing positive energy into our new home and suggested an amethyst. Here the thing- she has $15 amethyst, 20s, 40s and up and she was never pushy for me to get a pricier piece. At $45 for my amethyst, I was ready to display it in my new home. So whether you're into spirituality or just browsing out of curiosity, she totally makes everyone feel comfortable and welcome.

A mundane vase was out of the question. So were thoughtless gift cards to those home stores such as BB&B. Instead, we decided to: (1) go off the grid, (2) be more creative and (3) choose a gift that's personal- but represents something for the new married couple and their home. Calling first before coming here was a breeze especially when Dean asked if I was looking for a Spiritual or 'Happy' Buddha then reassured me they have a varied selection. Taking a last-minute trip here, was a must the day before our friends' Saturday wedding. Located at the Palisades Mall (by Macy's) in Nyack, Glowing Candle greets you with different Buddhas, Crystals, Quartz, Fairy statues, etc. They were known primarily for their candles, but somehow shifted to offering Spiritual items for the mind, body and Soul. With so many different Buddhas that have a different message depending on the posture and mudras (hand gestures), we had a specific type in mind. We chose the Dhyana mudra with both of Buddha's palms almost overlapping and resting upward on the lap made out of volcanic ash. Service from Dean was incredible and took the time to clarify a few things about his products. Plus, he boxed our gift and filled in the gaps with tissue paper. I may not be so keen on gallivanting at the Palisades Mall- but coming to this shop, getting what I want and heading back out, wouldn't be a problem.
