The purchase was a big bust, I returned it about a week later, and a different worker was there. I politely explained the issue and expected I would be offered a credit/refund/ or store credit in some reasonable amount. Instead, she was not interested in doing the right thing, was defensive, and said I was unclear about my complaint. My complaint was straightforward and clear. When she sensed that I was confused by her "argument," I just pivoted and said, "ok, that is a bad decision by you". Some people should not have front-facing jobs. They should work in a warehouse, communicating with software and forklifts, away from the public. This frumpy gal would probably be a great forklift driver. She has no business in customer service - she may own the shop, and that is even worse. That section of 7th Ave is full of nice mom and pop stores with nice folks = not Lotions & Potions. There are plenty of similar stores nearby - GO THERE!

Stopped in here to see if we could leave the plaza on a positive note and we certainly did. The store is filled with a variety of scents for you to sample and choose from to make lotions, roll-on fragrance and more! There are also some great body care options like bath bombs, and other accessories to choose from to make a meaningful gift for any occasion. I remember as a kid experiencing a smaller version of this in Santa Monica and much to my surprise my 12 year old chose the EXACT scent I loved then as well. Out of hundreds of choices she chose "China Rain"!! Both ladies working there are VERY knowledgeable about the scents and also what dupes they have for expensive fragrances you would find at commercial retailers. Their enthusiasm is a little intense but all kind spirited and for the love of what they do. I think this is a definite stop for individuals and families who appreciate body care and customization products. It's a fun way to explore making personal scented items, support a local business and take something home unique. Thanks to technology and the internet, you can even order anything online and have it shipped to you from their shop. For those who are scent-sensitive they offer unscented products as well. But if you're susceptible to sneezing like my father is, stay outside or grab a coffee across the street, while the rest of the family shops and has fun.

This was one of the most uncomfortable retail experiences that I have ever had. I went in there…read moreready to spend a couple hundred dollars to replenish all my perfumes and lotions. I am very introverted with very bad social anxiety and I usually just order anything I need online but I needed to smell everything before I bought it so I had to go into the store. Within a couple minutes of walking around I had an employee following me. I told her I was okay and she insisted that she come with me to test every fragrance. I had to tell her three times that I just wanted to shop alone. After that I noticed there were two other employees who were straightening up shelves right next to me. It was pretty obvious I was being profiled and treated like a thief, they were watching me. I became so uncomfortable with the surveillance that I just hurried up and picked something so I could get out of there. When I got to my car I realized that the buy 3 get 1 free was not honored but I was dreading going back in there. I went home and made my order online so I could go back in and get the products that I actually wanted without that awful feeling of being watched. The next day I went in with my bag of products I purchased the previous day to return and pick up the online order. As I'm walking through the door this lady stopped me and asked me if I needed help and I said no and kept walking. She then said are you returning something? And I said yes and kept walking. She then yelled across the store "YOU CANT RETURN ANYTHING WITHOUT A RECEIPT" implying that I was trying to do something shady. I told her I had the receipt and then she got on her walkie talkie to inform someone that I was in the store. Again...being profiled. I walked to the register and gave them my order number and my items to return and he asked me the dreaded "was there anything wrong with them?" which is code for "why are you returning this?". I wanted to tell him that the reason was because I felt so uncomfortable in the store that I rushed to buy something that I didn't really want so I could get out of there, but I just told him that I found a better deal online. I understand you want your employees to be vigilant and maybe you have problems with theft at this location, but this was unnecessary and it really made me never want to come back again because that feeling of being judged and watched is an awful feeling to experience.

The difficult part is trying to leave without buying up the whole store. This location is one of the most recent that just opened their doors. The one thing I can say about this store and all locations is the staff is always super friendly. The stores are always very clean and organized. Makes it very comfortable to shop. I found some new scents to add to my collection last week while visiting. I also managed to find some gifts. They have a small collection for men but the fragrances smell so good for the body collection.

I have visited twice (so far!) and been thoroughly impressed. With my first visit, my bestie and I shared a two-person sized board with no meat, so maximum cheese. We were able to sample the cheeses before committing them to a spot on our board. The team at Shea Cheese paired our selections with other charcuterie items to make a perfect grazing board. We also spilt the turkey and brie sandwich. The sandwich was paired with the most delicious kettle chips as well. For my second visit, I went with the pizza grilled cheese (sans olives) and got a pimento cheese sandwich to go for my mother. We were both beyond pleased with our grub. Of note, right next door to Shea Cheese is Shea Lounge, which is a little bookstore and lounge to enjoy your cheesy items. I am beyond impressed by this spot and am already looking forward to my next visit.

The event was a visit to Proof Bakery to see how the dough is *literally* made before heading back to Shea Cheese for the tasting. It was also BYOB. Overall, we had a great time. The space was cute and intimate, and the tasting was plentiful. They did open up the shop after the event too, so we were able to buy some deli meats and a bottle of natty wine. Their food menu looked soooo yummy, I look forward to coming back for lunch and for another event. Shea Cheese is a small business, owned by a couple who ensured that the experience was awesome. I definitely recommend stopping by and checking out their cookbook collection too. My only critique for the tasting was that they included a pimento cheese, which they make, that has mayo in it. I personally would've preferred they added one of their more unique options instead as neither my mom or I ate that part of the board (mostly due to the mayo).

I told myself I wasn't going to get anything unless something truly called out to me... and, well, it happened. A Nanouk caught my eye (and heart), and now it's settling in at home with me. Their outdoor plant selection is broad and vibrant, though I'm not the best at keeping outdoor plants happy, so I admired from afar. Inside, the houseplant section had a good mix of some plants you see often, but also a few rare and interesting ones I don't usually come across, including some unique philodendrons and a couple pothos. The indoor area is on the smaller side, so when it gets a little crowded, it can feel a bit tight... that's probably my only minor critique. That said, the overall vibe was welcoming. I appreciated being greeted when I came in and then left alone to browse when I mentioned I didn't need help. That balance matters. The prices were fair as far as my knowledge in cruising through plant aisles and sections. Nothing unreasonable from my perspective. I'm glad I stopped in, and I'd definitely come back once I and my new Nanouk get to know each other a bit more. All in all, a peaceful and worthwhile plant stop.
