This weekend was a very important day for me and my girlfriend, as we were celebrating a special…read moreevent. We rented The Fern and paid the full amount over a month in advance. We had agreed to meet 30 minutes before the event so everything would be ready. When I arrived at 1:30 p.m., I called the owner as we had agreed. My first two calls went to voicemail, and after several more attempts, she finally answered. When I told her I was outside the venue, she said, "Oh my God, I forgot about your event." Her husband told me that Brenda had forgotten to write that she had an event on her calendar. Brenda gave me the access code over the phone so I could open the venue myself, and someone arrived about an hour later to finish setting up the jumper and other items. Starting such an important day this way was very stressful and disappointing, especially after paying in full well in advance and having a scheduled meeting time. To the owner's credit, she did give us two additional hours at the venue to make up for the situation, and I appreciate that gesture. However, forgetting a customer's event is something that should never happen. I hope this feedback helps improve communication, organization and integrity so future customers don't experience the same stress on such an important day.

We were served appetizers (passed and stationary) with a bar. The appetizers were good, nothing amazing, but I am sure they have a man options if you are looking to use the venue for a sit down dinner, longer event. Downside is the parking. There is a lot behind the venue but next door is Steel Craft, also with it's parking lot. Definitely a lot of competition for parking spots. Steel Craft wasn't even crowded yet (4pm weekday) and I barely found a spot (and on the Steel Craft side). There is probably parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

She gave ideas and went above and beyond to make our requests and dreams come true we needed a lot of help behind the scenes to transform the place for the ceremony and it was better than expected, everything came out so seamlessly. They took care of us the whole night and I can't say thank you enough for the night and the entire process from start to finish. I would recommend them and book with them again. We were able to select the food from a food tasting, which was great that we were able to select from a wide choice and know how the food would taste, for a small fee. We were able to select the color of linens, runners, table settings, chairs. We were offered the choice of long square main tables if we wanted. We were provided with a dessert cart, cake cart, easels and banner stands. There is a changing room perfect for quinceañeras, weddings, or just a room to have available for your needs. The changing room comes with a standing mirror, couch, chairs, a vanity desk, great AC. They offer a bartender for a fee. They can also pour ready simple drinks. They offer cocktail tables and an outside patio. Mayra worked great with us in coordinating the placement of vendors, and gifts, our soft play area, the entrance for the wedding ceremony. They offer serving the food buffet style, they will clean up throughout the party and after so you don't have to worry about that. They serve the cake and bring out the bottles for the toast. Everything is just perfectly taken care of by their staff and Mayra and her husband. I can't say enough great things about this place and Mayra. I loved it, it was a dream come true.

John was very honest and professional with us and seemed to take a genuine interest in our planning. I guarantee you that if he tells you how something is going to be, that's how its going to be. You will read other reviews and see some complaints but, if you read your contract and abide by it, you will not have a single complaint. The entire staff was friendly and ready assist with anything they could. The kitchen staff, bar staff, and security staff were 100% on point. By the way, you definitely want their bar staff. The drinks were really good and you really can't beat the value. We got a drink package of 100 drinks for $500 and it was more than worth it. Decorating was a breeze since they set up all your tables with the table cloths in the colors of your choice and he does have plenty of colors for you to chose from. All we had to do was have our centerpieces placed on the tables and we were ready to go. We received many compliments from our guests about the venue and the overall experience. Unfortunately, our experience with the owner was very different. While he fulfilled everything outlined in our contract, his interactions during setup made the process much more stressful than it needed to be. Our set up and rehearsal felt uncomfortable after being spoken to sharply, including being reprimanded for leaning on a table. When I politely asked if we could add one additional table (at a cost, if at all possible)), I was also met with a raised voice. It was a simple question. I wasn't demanding or accusatory, but he became extremely defensive. Throughout setup, it felt as though we were being closely monitored rather than supported. To be fair, the venue honored every part of our agreement, and I appreciate that. However, hospitality is about more than fulfilling a contract. On such an important day, I hoped for a little flexibility, warmth, and kindness. Because of that experience, I personally would have a hard time recommending the venue, despite the beautiful facility and wonderful staff.

I have rented a lot of spaces in LA for meetings, pop ups, and workshops and none of them were this easy to work with. There's space to do just about anything and they have in house media and event services with competitive rates if you don't want to have to spend time shopping around. They have a great sound system, lighting, camera's, even a full bathroom. This is definitely a gem in South LA and I look forward to having events and shoots here in the near future!
