I only recommend Garnet Health Medical Center because it's the closest hospital. Their pediatric…read moreand maternity units are great. As for the other departments, it really depends on which doctors and nurses happen to be working that day. Two months ago, my GI doctor sent me to the ER for a STAT CT scan. Even though he called ahead to let them know I was coming, I still had to wait about 3 hours to be seen. Once I was brought back, things moved quickly with a series of tests. Initially, I was placed in a large shared room with about 10 other patients, which was not going to work for me--I'm immunocompromised and very cautious about exposure. Thankfully, they were able to move me to a private room, which made a huge difference in how safe and relaxed I felt. They ran a bunch of tests, diagnosed a GI infection that had spread to my organs, they were supposed to give me IV antibiotics, but they ended up giving me them by mouth instead and monitored me for any allergic reactions before discharging me. I was very clear from the beginning that I have a complex medical history and that I know what I need. I've learned that being my own advocate is the only way to survive in today's healthcare system. The ER doctor even said, "You're really on top of things," and I reminded him, "I told you I would be." This particular visit was a somewhat positive experience--but that doesn't mean everything was ideal. The waiting room itself is honestly filthy, overcrowded, and... a bit scary.... I strongly considered waiting in my car to avoid picking up something else, but staff said I'd miss being called if I did that. It's disappointing that there aren't more accessible facilities in the area for STAT imaging like CTs or MRIs when you have a script and just need urgent outpatient care. That gap in care really needs to be addressed, but I know probably will never be.

Despite atrocious billing issues, the facility itself is great. My wife went for a same day…read moresurgery. Each and every staff member that we encountered was polite and kind, very professional and friendly. The staff were personable and helped to ease concerns or worry. From start to finish we we greeted, spoken to with respect and decency and values as a patient. Great job, Garnet!

Sadly these doctors nowadays do not care about their patients. It's all about money. They walk in…read morethe room with their laptops rushing and reading up on your symptoms just like you did on the Internet before you got there. Then they have the nerve to get upset and tell you don't believe everything on the Internet. Meanwhile, they saying the very same thing the Internet just said. Only difference is the Internet ain't give a huge bill just for information. I'm not even sure if there are any good doctors here but with my experience they look overwhelmed with patients which doesn't allow them to properly care for each patients. My son was sick and the doctor sent him home twice. When we came back a third time she didn't even know who we were meanwhile we just seen her 3 times in one week. Now what does that tell you? We are just a number, a Bill and she is not taking the time to get to know her patients. She had to be asked to do test which came back positive for pneumonia. Meanwhile, she didn't even call us with the results. We had to call the doctor on call. How could she call us when she don't even remember who we were? It's sad because most of the doctors today are not doctors because they love helping people, they are doctors because they think that's where you can make the most money, and because their parents probably told them that's what they need to be to be successful in life. Their work is not coming from the heart so they do nothing from the heart that's why their behavior and actions reflects that. What is also alarming is that there are so many Crystal run healthcare buildings popping up everywhere. It's like they are playing Monopoly buying up the whole board. Anybody that knows about business knows they have to do their due diligence first, they have to check their demographics, and do their research before they open a business to make sure it will be profitable. The numbers must show that the business is in a good location and will be profitable. So Why so many Crystal Run buildings? They know we are heading into a future of a lot of sick people. From the GMO cancerous food, The polluted water to even the polluted air we breathe. What do they know that we don't know? Anyway the main point here is this is becoming more about business and money and less and less about patient's health. Finding a doctor who truly care in today's time is hard to fine. Doesn't mean they're not out there but I don't think that they are at Crystal run healthcare. Their model seems to be let me hurry up look on my laptop at your symptoms write you a prescription hurry up and get you out of here so I can move onto the next patient, bill you and forget you ever existed. And by the way make sure your credit card is on file or else we won't even see you. Sorry those are the new policies. They want access to your money immediately. Money first your health last.

In her one week post op appointment with Dr. Karpoff she addressed a lump and pain. Dr. Karpoff did not examine the site or remove bandages. He said it was normal. It was a fluid build up. A month later, my wife reached out to the office concerned a stitch was still at the site. The staff said it was dissolvable not to worry. Ironically, my wife's GP and Dermatologist are both at Crystal Run and they confirmed the stitch was not dissolvable and she needed to be seen. One provider sent pics to the staff. When she went in, they clipped the stitch as close to the site as they could. My wife related the pain and lump at the site. Dr. Karpoff never saw her as he claims, instead the staff said no big deal. He tells a different story of a thorough examination with no abnormality. Almost a week or so later the site was getting red snd swollen. Now, Dr. Karpoff saw my wife and said it was an infection and it happens after surgery. Sure, but two months later? He gave her doxycycline. That weekend the infection ruptured and we were at the ER. The ER doctor said this could have been septic and the infection had been there for more than a week. They were surprised it was not treated sooner given my wife's description of events. I filed a complaint with Crystal Run. Michaela was my advocate. Michaela advised that leadership believes Dr. Karpoff's account, even though he was caught in various lies to being in an appointment, inspecting a site and there is a huge discrepancy between the ER Doctors account for what Dr. k said to what the Doctor claims he said. They also follow chats and any communication and don't find anything suspicious. However they weren't in the exams being verbalized what we were. Leadership covered for the Doctor. Crystal Run also can't help with the additional medical expenses as they happened outside of Optum or Crystal Run network. Even though there is no ER for Crystal Run and when the infection got swollen the CR Urgent Care said they couldn't take the issue, my wife had to see Dr. Karpoff or go to the ER. Crystal Run may have helped with the additional medical expenses caused by this issue had we, after hours on a weekend gone to Crystal Run for an active emergency that their own UC turned away. Essentially, it's not just about the bill. It is the breakdown of patient care that took place by a provider that could have made a huge difference had they listened and not had I know best and more than you attitude. How dare you question Dr. Karpoff in his eyes when it was merely a concern that something isn't right with the healing. Even though a GP and Dermatologist from your Network disagreed and other health care providers I consulted in my line of work all said something was not right from the start. Kudos, Crystal Run and Dr. Karpoff - you a fine examples of exemplary health care and are exactly what is wrong with the system. Not to mention Dr Karpoff has awful bedside manner.
