I have no expectations about the food here - especially fish and chips. Ever since I tasted fish and chips in England many years ago, there's not a place in Texas that comes close to British fish and chips. So, imagine my surprise when this cod fish dinner at Culver's was placed in front of me to eat. Cod is the only fish I will eat for fish and chips. This fast food place has cod! Not only that, for a limited time, they have Walleye fish and chips dinner! I went to town on this fish dinner. Bought one each and took home the walleye dinner for tonight's dinner. Anyway, the fish was cooked almost perfectly - just a little oily but this is a fast food place not a British pub! That first bite was crunchy, hot and surprisingly delicious! I was able to finish 2 of the 3 I had ordered. It came with Cole slaw, a roll and of course French fries. What a surprise that was! As for the walleye dinner, I had to eat it the next day. It got reheated in the air fryer and it came out hot, crunchy and oh, so tasty! Ambiance wise, the place is refrigerator cold. If ever I go back there during lent this year, I will bring a jacket! Overall, I'm very impressed with the food. It's not British pub quality but for a fish and chips place in Kerrville, TX, this was quite a very nice surprise. I would go back there for fish and chips. England across the pond is quite a long way from here for the real fish and chips but I'll take Culver's fish and chips any time the mood hits me.

Our waiter, Ethan, was friendly and attentive and did a great job. He's the only thing I can say that's good here. The batter was a nice consistency, but lacked seasoning, so very bland. The dips were good. A couple of us had the small appetite plate, with salad, soup and a half a sandwich. We got tomato basil soup and a BLT and added avocado. The salad and sandwich were good. The soup was so salty I couldn't eat it. One person got the catfish plate with green beans and pasta salad. The green beans were canned and mushy. Those same canned green beans were in the pasta salad. The fish was so salty it was inedible. Just overall not a good experience. The place feels old and dingy. They do have a nice river front location and patio seating.
