Big fan of their cheesecake bites, would say it's better than Yogurtland in terms of toppings. As a loyal plain tart fan, I will say Yogurtland has a better plain tart but the other flavors are much better at Menchie's. Pretty hot and stuffy indoors, would recommend eating outside!

I would advise against getting any topping as everyone, children included, is allowed to get their own topping. Children were grabbing toppings with their hands and/or dropping ones they had back into the containers. Just get yogurt. The seating area was quite noisy.

If I were them, I'd be begging for a rent discount or asking to move to a more visible spot because this location is in stealth mode. That said, if you're heading here for some pretty good frozen yogurt, you won't be disappointed. I had the pistachio and cheesecake flavors, both of which were solid choices, but the pistachio was easily my favorite. They've got several flavors to choose from and tons of toppings. Fruit, candies, chocolates...you name it. The fruit was fresh, the gooey candy looked delicious, but I kept it classy with just blueberries. There's not really much seating, but that's fine--it's a grab-your-yogurt-and-go kind of place. Just be warned: it's not cheap. It adds up fast, especially if you have kids who treat themselves to toppings galore. But the treats are tasty and worth it now and then. Now, a little real talk about the service: if it bugs you when employees don't acknowledge your existence, this might push your buttons. Pretty much every time I've been here, there's a teenager working--and always on the phone. Like, always. Last time, the girl didn't even look at me, nor did she say a single word. It was like self-checkout, but not as good. She just kept chatting and laughing with a friend on the phone like I wasn't even there. While I find it rather impolite, I teach teenagers, so I also understand it. They're often underpaid and stuck in there for hours bored out of their minds. Still, it'd be nice if they paused the convo for like, 10 seconds, just to make brief eye contact and say something. They are young, but improved communication skills will serve them well in the future. All that said, I like this place, and I'll be back. The yogurt's good, the toppings are fun, and my kids love it.

I ordered ahead of time and used my lunch hour to pick up the order. The cream cheese frosting was piped sloppy and I immediately noticed it when they opened the box. I did appreciate that they took it back and fixed it, but it did waste my time and lunch hour when I ordered ahead of time. Then when they took the box back, they placed it on top of some water so the bottom of the box was wet when they brought it back out to me, so for a second time they had to take it back and dry the box. For an establishment that did not appear to be busy, I felt like they could have been more intentional and thorough with my order. The cashier was an older lady and she was sweet, but I expected better and more consistency from such a staple dessert place. Try their seasonal, limited time S'MORES Bundt cake! It was chocolatey and delicious! With sprinkles of graham cracker crust. Very sweet tho!

Van Leeuwen's goal is to make good ice cream that satisfies both regular ice cream afficionados as well as vegans. Prices here are comparable to others in town, where they seem to get you is their toppings. There is no such thing as free toppings, except on Tuesdays where the first one is free. I sampled a few flavors with their trademark metal tasting spoons, the praline butter cake, the black cherry chip, the banana bread pudding with fudge swirl and the PB brownie honeycomb. After all of these, which are healthy samples, nothing really wowed me. The most surprising was the banana which had almost no banana flavor, and mostly fudge flavor. I settled on the PB brownie honeycomb. The Honeycomb is not what you would think here, or at most other ice cream shops, it's actually a Australian candy and the ice cream here has the honeycomb caramel pieces in it. Pb brownie honeycomb had a nice strong PB butter flavor, caramel swirl pieces, and of course small brownie chunks. It's a blend of flavors. Some of the caramel swirl pieces even have a crunch to them. Overall, not a bad ice cream spot, just wish they had a better banana ice cream. It's one of their many vegan flavors. So maybe that's why it tastes so different than what I'm used to. One interesting tidbit here , they sell Maine Root root beer, which is also used for their root beer floats. It's one of the healthier root beers on the market in addition to being a root beer which you don't see very often, other than at World Market.
