One of my new favorite pasta places in montreal ! The restaurant has lovely ambience, and the owner…read moreis so cute and quirky as well! The way you order is that first you decide your pasta sauce choice, and then decide which type of pasta you want We asked about wine options, and I think it was BYOW, but there was a dep right across the street and if you're unsure about what to get, the owner has recommendations as well. There's so many pasta sauce options that my friends and I took forever to decide (as usual), but I finally opted for the bow tie pasta with marinara, bacon, mushrooms, grilled chicken, white wine, and cream and it was delicious! I also tried a bite of my friends clam (and I don't remember what else) linguini, which was very tasty as well. Portions are generous, and my friends and I food comaed for at least half an hour after we finished eating The owner was super funny because he'd always tease us with desserts before he brought them to the table which ordered them Definitely coming back here again hehe

If i could give this place a big fat zero star, i would. Where do i start??? I've had bad service…read more I've had bad food. But never did i have both with a dab of misogynistic and racist behaviour from the owner! I am not a violent person...but omg i wanted to punch him! The menu is long and everything on it is expensive. We ordered two green salads. Felix ordered a fettuccini olive oil and garlic sauce for 13$!!! At that price, we thought that the ingredients would be top notch. Right? Wrong! I got the spaghetti meat ball. No "s". It was A meatball. The owner flat out asked my husband, because he doesn't talk to women, if his Chinese immigrant friend knows what ground BEEF meat was. My husband told him that he could ask me himself. The owner said he didn't bother because he knows i wouldn't understand him. I speak three languages. He then wrote down our plate numbers on paper table setting. What a schmuck! He wasn't shy on telling us that he buys his ingredients (fake parmesan, bread, salad dressing and so on) at Costco. Nothing against Costco. But when you charge 13-20$ a plate of pasta with sauce from a jar, i think you're ripping us off and taking us for idiots! I can go on and on... He also told my husband that we're better eating the whole thing because he will not let us have doggy bags. Food this nasty, no f-ing way! Worst meal of my life! Worst place ever!

La Socca is well hidden neighbourhood restaurant…read more Their food is overall very nice. I can't pretend I have experimented entirely with the menu, but my dining partners have been always happy with the pasta dishes and salmon tartar. They also have fresh oysters to start the night with although the three dollars per oyster yesterday seemed a little bit overpriced. Most of the dishes are offered in two sizes, appetizer and main course version, perfect way to control you calories intake or if you want to deviate from the kids menu for your little ones. The goat cheese filo salad during my last visit was delicious. The wine list seems to be dominated by French choices, more then a half of the wines are available by glass, so you are not obliged to go with a bottle. Service is friendly and polite. The best is the terrace during the summer, you can dine or just grab a beer and appetizer outdoors. La Socca may not necessarily deserve a trip to Nun's Island from faraway neighbourhoods, but it is a wonderful dining option if you are nearby.

The restaurant itself is romantic and cozy with many tables and a large bar area and the menu is varied. All I can really tell you, because it was outstanding, is that the steak tartare is an absolute must here! Although we tried a few dishes, I still can't get over how amazing their tartare is and therefore want to center the review on its glorious deliciousness - it's as close to Parisian tartare as you'll get in the city so if you go, you have to order this dish! The service is impeccable, and the food is outstanding. Can't really ask for more! Will definitely be back!

What a special place this is!!! Located on the Lachine Canal (please correct me if that's…read moreincorrect) this popular local eatery has people lined up for Sunday breakfast. We didn't have to wait long to be seated near the back by an open (but screened-in) area, right by the "window" overlooking the canal. We ordered our coffee and put in order while watching streams of people come and go. There was such a huge selection of fabulous, mouth-watering items on the menu that ranged from crèpes to french toast and sandwiches that it was difficult to choose. I had Le Brise, comprised of french toast, loads of sweet, crispy and fresh fruit in season and custard sauce. Québec Maple syrup was brought to the table, just in case we didn't have enough sweetness. My friend had the scrambled eggs, toast, home fried potatoes & baked beans. The ambience was light and service was quick between servers setting up for a large party behind us and another party in front of us, and the two teenagers beside us who received a lot of attention from the younger server. Next time I'm in town, I will come back, especially since we got to take a walk along the canal over to the beach where some bathers were taking advantage of the glorious weather.

Sitting on a prime location beside the Parc des Rapides, in Lasalle, Riventino offers top notch, fresh home-made Italian fare and very decent prices. This place has been here for over 40 years so that's got to tell you something, given the fierce competition in Montreal's restaurant scene. You have to be good in order to have any longevity in this city of foodies. Friend and I came here after an evening of walking and hanging out by the Rapids, what I noticed right away was that the balcony planters were all growing fresh herbs. I think it was the owner who served us, really friendly service overall. I spotted a homemade pasta dish with lamb ragout, that's not common and I'll probably give it a go the next time I'm here. Nonetheless, this first time I had their Riventino pizza, a homemade thin-crust pizza with mushrooms, cheese, and pork. When I asked for hot chili flakes, the owner asked if I like things really hot. I do so he offered the really hot chili oil. Pieces of sliced red chillies marinated and sitting in extra-virgin olive oil, infusing the oil with the heat of the chillis. It was the perfect condiment to my pizza. I should add the pizza was a perfect meal size as well. Not so filling that you feel you can't walk afterwards but just enough to satisfy. My friend had the fettucine dish made with artichoke pesto and chicken. She loved it. With bruscetta and bread offered right way, a staff that makes you feel welcome, a great view of the river, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again.
