Pretty cool little spot that's close to home :) I was surprised to see so many people here on a Thursday it was a mixed crown old and young but very loud. Our waiter was friendly and came around a lot during the night. I did notice they try to get you to buy drinks a lot they just grab ur cup and say another ? I'll let you know if I want one you don't need to try to up sell me on drinks. Buratta was good but not as good as La Verita in the West Island I could probably get a better one at Costco. I'm only saying that as it didn't come with any reductions or maybe sun dried tomatoes just salt and pepper with some great bread. Meat balls were good again nothing out of this world. The Aranchini isn't served with tomato sauce which I found pretty strange. My main was okay the paste was a little undercooked and there was a lot of corn but they did make up for it with the huge amount of cheese they put on the pasta. Fresh cracked pepper for the pasta is a must they should walk around and offer it or at least cheese like every Italian joint. Perhaps some oils for the pizzas as well spice things up a bit

Rita is an excellent new addition to the Wellington Village. They offer a contemporary Italian menue of pasta and pizza. The pizza dough and pasta is all home made, with the pizza dough prepared 72 hours in advance giving it time to rise slowly and stress free. The decor of the resto is really very nicely done. We were a larger group and seated at a bigger table toward the back and although the restaurant was full and lively the acoustics were good and we were easily able to carry on a conversation amongst our group. Since opening, just a few weeks ago, Rita has been consistently packed which is so nice to see. The restaurant seems to be appealing to those living in and around Verdun as well as drawing people from other parts of town. Our group was able to try a number of the pizzas as well as a few appetizers and pasta dishes. Although nothing we had completely blew my mind everything was good, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was really nice. I will definitely be back. By the way, they do offer takeout pizza.

Wow. This is the first time in awhile where I've been impressed with both the atmosphere and every single dish ordered as a first visit. It's a hidden gem as it's a bit further out from the tourist hubs. The beef tartare was the best I've ever had -- and I've tried many. Most beef tartares taste too beef-y and are just bland overall - this was multi dimensional and different textures with the focaccia. The clam/seafood pasta and pizza were delicious. The caesar salad was one of the best ceasar salads I've ever had and I consider myself a caesar aficionado :) I make it a point to try it at almost every restaurant that offers it on the menu. The anchovies were subtle (not pungent like most) and almost creamy. Everything was well done - from appetizers to main courses to dessert. Such a dreamy dinner.

Rita is a new addition to the Verdun sector since September 2018. Mainly focusing on local ingredients, produce and wine, their team aim to serve Italian food with a seasonal menu. High ceilings and big windows, Rita's atmosphere will make you feel like in an little upscale restaurant without feeling too pretentious. As an appetizer, we had black sea bass served with salsa verde, jalapeño, crème fraîche, raspberry and orange zeste. Unfortunately all three of us, can agree that the raw sea bass itself was too tough and smelled a little fishy. Not completely terrible in my opinion but not good enough for me to order it again. Price: $17.00 Second dish was Caponata, a dish served with an oven roasted eggplant topped with pine nuts. A dish leaving me completely "meh" and in my opinion not special enough. Something I'm sure most of us can replicate at home. ‍ Price: $13.00 If you all know me, I'm a sucker for carbs. Potatoes, pasta, bread- name it and I'm all in. What gives Rita a little more credit is that the pasta is all prepared and made in house. We ordered the Agnolotti, served with stracciatella, cauliflowers, anchovies, garlic calabrese pepper, walnuts and Grana Padano cheese. Price: $25.00 Additionally, Joey d'Alleva and his team have been working on special dough recipe which required a 72 hour fermentation period. The Williamsburg pizza was probably my favourite dish out of all the pick. Topped with marinated zucchini, homemade ricotta, provolone and smoked mozzarella and Pecorino cheese. Price: $21.00 Rita is a beautifully designed restaurant with high ceilings and big window but unfortunately it didn't blow my mind. My favourite pasta still belong to Mckiernan, Beatrice and Elena. I will have my very first visit at Moccione this Saturday, so we'll see where this battle of pasta will go. For pizza? You'll always see me request extra truffle and extra prosciutto at Il Focolaio (Pizza #74). What was your impression of Rita?

I have come to Rita countless times and never once have I left disappointed; be it the delicious homemade pasta or the tasty appetizers, I simply can't get enough of the friendly service, great atmosphere and affordable dishes. Best of all, the wine list is not only exceptional, it's also very well priced! Tonight we tried the recommended Cataratto and absolutely fell in love with this fresh medium bodied white from Sicily. For the dishes, we opted for the aracini and meatball in a delicious red sauce, followed by the lemony asparagus and the fried artichoke; mains included the cavatelli pasta with rapini, and the pesto pizza with cheese and tomatoes. Everything was well prepared and delicious; the pasta was perfection and the pizza dough was tasty and pillow soft! The space itself is beautiful and modern; really live the laid back feel and great atmosphere. Can't wait for the next visit already!

Decent pizza and pasta in verdun. We tried 3 different kinds of pizzas and a pasta and they were all pretty good. The pizzas had a lot of toppings inside and the pasta was al dente. You can also add their chili oil if you like it spicy. The service is quick and the guys are pretty nice. The place has several tables and the inside is very clean.

Let me start by saying that the food is absolutely amazing. In fact the veal parmigiana is to die for. we went to Rita's for the first time and the food and ambiance was amazing. the food takes a little longer to come out as it is hand made, but well worth the wait. On the flip side the service was deplorable. Our server was very confrontational right from the start. She said she had 20 years of experience, but none of that was evident. She brought us drinks quick enough but didn't come back for quite a while to take the food orders. After that, albeit for one more drink order, she was more or less absent. Other people brought some of our food, she brought out mine. At that moment I ordered a large pizza to go. she never once came back to our table to see how things were and after about an hour we were done. We needed take out containers which someone else brought. we then needed our checks. Good luck! That took a solid 20 minutes. Then she brought the wrong ones. another 20 minutes passes and she shows up with the bills. At that time she said the pizza would be another hour. to which I asked how is it possible that a pizza could take over 2 hours to cook. She got very snarky and eventually walked away and sent the owner over. She totally forgot to order the pizza. The owner, Ashley (don't be confused) was delightful. She tried to smooth things over and did a very good job at it. The damage however was done. the waitress turned an otherwise great night into a frustrating experience. She said that she had another job and was opening an aestetics business. Perhaps she should stick to what she knows, waitressing isn't one of them. As for me I will be back because I love the food and I really want to try the pizza. But I refuse to be served by her. Hopefully management will recognize how detrimental she is to their new business

Balconville is dead, long lives Rita! Finally made it to the new Italian restaurant the ex-owners of Balconville that opened on Wellington street and I can only be excited about it. First of all the borough of Verdun now has a real Italian joint, no urgent need to plan in advance outing in Little Italy. Then of course comes the pizza, this is not just any pizza, this is the best pizza in the area, because the dough is outstanding. The menu is not huge, but well thought through and apparently evolves through the seasons. We started with salad and marinated veggies. For mains we tried pizza Rita and the agnolotti with ricota, both were delicious. The cocktail menu is as good as it gets, some Balconville classics and few new inventions, I had to have the Amaro Sour and it is strongly recommended if you don't mind egg whites in your drink. The wine list is impressive, it even included orange wines. Warm atmosphere, perfect service, the best way to spend a pleasant evening and eat good food.

Verdun Hot Honey and Classic Parma Pizzas

Great ambiance. Got 2 pizzas and both were excellent. Also got the affogato for dessert which I recommend as it was a light dessert but still very tasty. Portion size was just right, even a little much but I finished the whole plate.

The place looks really nice and has a cosy atmosphere. I ordered their mushroom pizza to go, Enzo 65. It didn't have a tomato sauce, only mushrooms and a variety of cheeses. For $21, I feel the size was small (you could call it a medium size pizza). I was ready to complain but the pizza was delicious, so I'm giving it at 4/5. Had it been bigger, it would have been a 5/5.

The way you order is that first you decide your pasta sauce choice, and then decide which type of pasta you want We asked about wine options, and I think it was BYOW, but there was a dep right across the street and if you're unsure about what to get, the owner has recommendations as well. There's so many pasta sauce options that my friends and I took forever to decide (as usual), but I finally opted for the bow tie pasta with marinara, bacon, mushrooms, grilled chicken, white wine, and cream and it was delicious! I also tried a bite of my friends clam (and I don't remember what else) linguini, which was very tasty as well. Portions are generous, and my friends and I food comaed for at least half an hour after we finished eating The owner was super funny because he'd always tease us with desserts before he brought them to the table which ordered them Definitely coming back here again hehe

At that price, we thought that the ingredients would be top notch. Right? Wrong! I got the spaghetti meat ball. No "s". It was A meatball. The owner flat out asked my husband, because he doesn't talk to women, if his Chinese immigrant friend knows what ground BEEF meat was. My husband told him that he could ask me himself. The owner said he didn't bother because he knows i wouldn't understand him. I speak three languages. He then wrote down our plate numbers on paper table setting. What a schmuck! He wasn't shy on telling us that he buys his ingredients (fake parmesan, bread, salad dressing and so on) at Costco. Nothing against Costco. But when you charge 13-20$ a plate of pasta with sauce from a jar, i think you're ripping us off and taking us for idiots! I can go on and on... He also told my husband that we're better eating the whole thing because he will not let us have doggy bags. Food this nasty, no f-ing way! Worst meal of my life! Worst place ever!

We didn't have to wait long to be seated near the back by an open (but screened-in) area, right by the "window" overlooking the canal. We ordered our coffee and put in order while watching streams of people come and go. There was such a huge selection of fabulous, mouth-watering items on the menu that ranged from crèpes to french toast and sandwiches that it was difficult to choose. I had Le Brise, comprised of french toast, loads of sweet, crispy and fresh fruit in season and custard sauce. Québec Maple syrup was brought to the table, just in case we didn't have enough sweetness. My friend had the scrambled eggs, toast, home fried potatoes & baked beans. The ambience was light and service was quick between servers setting up for a large party behind us and another party in front of us, and the two teenagers beside us who received a lot of attention from the younger server. Next time I'm in town, I will come back, especially since we got to take a walk along the canal over to the beach where some bathers were taking advantage of the glorious weather.

Sitting on a prime location beside the Parc des Rapides, in Lasalle, Riventino offers top notch, fresh home-made Italian fare and very decent prices. This place has been here for over 40 years so that's got to tell you something, given the fierce competition in Montreal's restaurant scene. You have to be good in order to have any longevity in this city of foodies. Friend and I came here after an evening of walking and hanging out by the Rapids, what I noticed right away was that the balcony planters were all growing fresh herbs. I think it was the owner who served us, really friendly service overall. I spotted a homemade pasta dish with lamb ragout, that's not common and I'll probably give it a go the next time I'm here. Nonetheless, this first time I had their Riventino pizza, a homemade thin-crust pizza with mushrooms, cheese, and pork. When I asked for hot chili flakes, the owner asked if I like things really hot. I do so he offered the really hot chili oil. Pieces of sliced red chillies marinated and sitting in extra-virgin olive oil, infusing the oil with the heat of the chillis. It was the perfect condiment to my pizza. I should add the pizza was a perfect meal size as well. Not so filling that you feel you can't walk afterwards but just enough to satisfy. My friend had the fettucine dish made with artichoke pesto and chicken. She loved it. With bruscetta and bread offered right way, a staff that makes you feel welcome, a great view of the river, I wouldn't hesitate to come here again.
