Much better than the last time I ate there before the pandemic. Everything tasted great. Thai…read morecooking at its best.

Just had an incredible lunch at People's Palace and I'm still thinking about it days later. Our…read moregroup of six walked in without a reservation (luckily they squeezed us in), and right away the vibe felt welcoming--elegant but not stuffy, with beautiful wood accents and soft lighting that made everything feel special. We started with the pomelo salad--bright, zesty, perfectly balanced with just the right kick--and then dove into the grilled pork skewers, which were smoky, tender, and gone in seconds. The star for me was the steamed sea bass with chili-lime sauce; the fish was so fresh it practically melted, and that sauce had me spooning it over everything. Even the pad see ew was a step above what I've had elsewhere--chewy noodles, great wok hei, not too sweet. Portions felt generous for the quality, and nothing was overly oily or heavy. Service was flawless. Our server remembered who ordered what without writing anything down and kept the water and tea flowing without us ever asking. They even brought out a little complimentary mango sticky rice at the end because it was one of our birthdays--such a thoughtful touch. Hands down one of the best Thai meals I've had in Manila. Worth every peso and I'll be back next time I'm in town. 5 stars all the way.

I've been on the hunt for a good Thai place in Manila since forever. When Soi opened, I thought…read morethat was it. We ordered Chicken Pandan, Pad Thai, Fish Fillet in Black Pepper Sauce and also the Fried Spring Rolls. Initial tasting was very good. I thought the food was very flavorful. I thought they used a lot of spices but a few hours after I ate there, I got the worst headache ever and I started to feel really thirsty. The food was laden with MSG. If you're not very sensitive to MSG, I think you'll find this place to be very enjoyable. Unfortunately for me, the hunt goes on.

And so we googled for the nearest Thai restaurant, which landed us at Soi Thai in Greenhills Promenade. The interior was a bit crowded to my liking; I rather prefer airy, open spaces when eating. That aside though, we looked at the menu and saw plenty that we liked. There was pad thai, of course. And chicken satay. Then we decided to splurge with some red curry fish and an order for spring rolls for the two picky kids who were with us. We were served some corn nuts while we waited for our orders to be served. After a short while, the food came and the servings were rather smaller than we had expected (given the price) but it was good. The pad thai was well-balanced, and the red curry fish was moist and flaky in its creamy sauce. The spring rolls were a surprise --- they were rather quite good, with the meat flavor being first and foremost. The chicken satay was not bad, but not that good either. One of these days, I might just come back for some more of that pad thai.
