With the closing of mainstay Gourmet's Palate (which has subsequently reopened), the market became wide-open for such places to compete with those that have been 24/7 since the start, including the two branches of Sinangag Express. Soon after Gourmet's Palate closed its doors, Dusadee Thai began operating at all hours, adding much-welcome variety to the late-night-to-early-morning food scene in BF. As the name suggests, the place serves Thai food exclusively. Good Thai food, to be exact. The Pad Thai and spring rolls are excellent, and the different curries are quite tasty too. This doesn't come as a huge surprise, as the owner is actually a Thailand native. The meals are priced fairly, especially given the portion size and level of taste. The place is quite small, so you may have to wait a bit if there are no seats available. You can also get your meals delivered if you live in the area. You can choose to light up if you get one of the outdoor seats, although I recommend taking a few steps away to the parking lot instead.

I don't know why there isn't a single Mexican restaurant in the Bicutan, Better Living area where I live. But I'm glad that there's this one Thai restaurant along Dona Soledad Extension called Sen Lek. The best thing about Sen Lek Thai restaurant is its being little more than a carinderia, which means that the dishes are affordable. The Thai restaurants that I've been to which are in Makati are all pretty pricey, so having one so close to home at wallet-friendly prices makes Sen Lek a little restaurant that I will probably be frequenting in the weeks and months to come. I ordered take out from there not too long ago, and I was asked if I wanted my food mild or strong. I don't care for extra spicy food as I get hyperacidic after eating them. The mild food of Sen Lek is still a little bit spicy, but tolerably so. Since there's a Thai massage place a stone's throw from this restaurant, I am wondering if there's a Thai community somewhere here. I don't mind. I've met some Thais over the years, and they are surprisingly a lot closer to us Filipinos than our brother Malaysians and Indonesians. Anyway, because the food is so good and the prices so reasonable, I give Sen Lek Thai restaurant five stars.

As a…read moreresident of this neighborhood, naturally I hold very little expectations for food places here --great food just does not pop out from this area. Silom Thai, being located in SM Bicutan, a place that doesn't really have anything fascinating food-wise, was a place that made my eyes light up when it opened. As a vegan, I go straight to the vegetable dishes. And, as expected with Thai cuisine, there are some good veggie selections! For appetizers, the Fresh Vegetarian Spring Rolls are delicious and quite filling on their own. They also have some salads suitable for vegans. You can also have a Vegetarian Noodle Soup (you can pick the kind of noodles you want! Awesome) which is a pretty huge serving. When I'm here, a staple for me is their Vegetable & Tofu Curry (which 2 people can share) and paired with white rice--it's perfect! You can have it made extra spicy as well. For desserts, I was really delighted by their Water Chestnuts in Iced Coco Milk. Their Mango Sticky Rice also does not disappoint! Now for beverages: I always stick to a refreshing glass of their Lemongrass Iced Tea. Actually, I love this place so much that I can say that Silom Thai for me is the best place to have a meal in the whole area of Betterliving neighborhood. Great value for money, too!

The first morning I had silog with tamarind chicken and pork asada, and lots of crispy Danggit! The congee was amazing! U added every topping possible plus fresh calamansi juice! One morning they had bread and butter pudding squares and the other morning they had taisan bread. Both were so scrumptious!! Our server Harven was a delight! Friendly, got us warm milk, and answered my 6 million questions! We also took pictures in the back patio that overlooked Laguna de Bay. Beautiful views in every direction. They also had pineapple and mango jam! New jam flavors to me that were delicious on my cream cheese filled French toast. My husband also tries the miso ramen and the fresh salad with a great sesame dressing. In other words, we ate everything, everyone was so friendly and the views are incredible.

Though it operates as a rooftop bar and restaurant, they also offer buffet breakfast for in-house guests. FOOD: 3/5 The overall food selection was quite limited, primarily a mix of Filipino, American, Chinese and other International dishes. The food was decent but could have been better overall. SERVICE: 5/5 I noticed that most of the servers were male while a few female staff at the food counter. Regardless, all of them were attentive, polite, and efficient. AMBIANCE: 4/5 Being at the rooftop, the restaurant provides a full view of the city. I can only imagine how much more stunning these views at night with the city lights. It also features a mini pool - not for use but aesthetically for decor which I believe needs a little polishing and renovation. Overall, the buffet breakfast at The Nest did its job - it fill us up in the morning, though I wished there was a wider selection. And I take my hats off to the staff at The Nest - their service were on point!

It's served with a small slice of lime, though as a matter of preference my boyfriend and I did ask for more. It just gives the noodles that extra shot of citrus that livens everything up and ties everything together. Even the nutty taste doesn't sit heavily in the stomach like other pad thais do. We also ordered the beef satay, which is rich, savory, and moist the way most other satays aren't. A lot of moisture is lost in the grill or pan, especially when the pieces of meat are small, but somehow, Sen Lek manages to keep its satay succulent. Their mango sticky rice is my favorite menu item though. I'm one of those people for whom dessert is chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate, but this dish was an exception. It's nothing fancy, but it's well-made, and the textures of the fruit, rice, and cream all come together in a gorgeous harmony of sweetness. Prices are also more than fair. For less than five hundred pesos, two people can share a meal and feel satisfied and happy after.

Most of the items on the menu are within the P120-150 range, with a few exceptions. I went there with a group of 4 voracious and hungry friends, and after each ordering a dish (or two) to our heart's desire, plus drinks, our total bill amounted to more or less P1,000. Pretty good for the amount of food we ordered - we went home too full to grab night caps!

We started with the pomelo salad--bright, zesty, perfectly balanced with just the right kick--and then dove into the grilled pork skewers, which were smoky, tender, and gone in seconds. The star for me was the steamed sea bass with chili-lime sauce; the fish was so fresh it practically melted, and that sauce had me spooning it over everything. Even the pad see ew was a step above what I've had elsewhere--chewy noodles, great wok hei, not too sweet. Portions felt generous for the quality, and nothing was overly oily or heavy. Service was flawless. Our server remembered who ordered what without writing anything down and kept the water and tea flowing without us ever asking. They even brought out a little complimentary mango sticky rice at the end because it was one of our birthdays--such a thoughtful touch. Hands down one of the best Thai meals I've had in Manila.
