Sweet Thai chili wings

Lady was really sweet with us on the phone. It's pretty challenging to find their menu somewhere so we had a lot of questions on the phone. She explained everything super kindly to us and we didn't feel like a burden. The food was good, hot and a decent quality. The burger was cooked perfectly to temp which is challenging for takeout. The chili was good, just sweeter than expected. The flavors were all good, just left us wanting something more flavorful.

Every year we come up to North Creek, for whitewater rafting for a weekend, one restaurant we alway make sure to stop in is Basil & Wicks. There is outdoor seating on the porch or sit inside, either way you will enjoy whatever you choose. Good drink selection and great service. We were a party of eight, and they put us on the stage in the main dining room. Lighting was poor some of us used our phones for lighting, until the owner came by and turned up the lights on the platform. But all in all it was good. Ciao for Now.

We went to Basil and Wicks for a birthday celebration. Becca was our waitress, and she was very attentive. She made recommendations to us from the menu and also helped us choose our drinks. The bartender could've done better with the drinks; however, the food was amazing, our compliments to the chef, who also came out to our table to check on us... that was thoughtful. Overall, the birthday dinner was a huge success. Thank you, Basil and Wicks.

Black Forest Chicken

Casual dressed customers can enjoy fine dining among the north creek rolling mountains. We sat during an early evening dining period (around 5pm on a sunday) where the music was softly playing in the background but the warm laughter of the patrons and staff invited conversations and a good time. There's no gimmick, just good food to speak for itself. For apps: The special clam stew which was lighter than expected but warmed our belly's for the entree. I shared the bowl with one other person. Entree: (the boyfriend but he let me try) the featured black forest chicken. The crusted chicken didn't feel heavily fried or thickly breaded. It paired nicely with the mushroom risotto which was firm and perfectly cooked. I don't care much for overly soft or sticky risotto. This could have easily been a heavy dish but it was rather delightful instead. I had the diver scallops which were... OMG! I let out a happy dance upon first mouth full. The scallops were light and buttery. Perfectly pan seared, your fork will do the job with no need of a knife, as it should be. I've been dying for scallops and most miss the mark (not horrible, but not what I needed) but this finally cured my craving! I'm a sucker for gnocchi so this dish is a no brainer for me and I would recommend it time and time again. Staff: Everyone was friendly. Samantha was our server and answered any questions we had. Their friendliness was genuine and service was quick. Even Chef Billy himself came to check in on us which never happens in most places. We didn't sit outside, or by the pub, but those options were there if that's what you wanted. They offered drinks but we didn't have any during this visit. Dessert was also offered and it looked amazing, I just wish I had the room in my belly. I don't normally eat dessert so I didn't save room but I surely was tempted. I'm not even a winter/cold weather person and already considered to come back during that time literally inspired by this dining experience, and the people we met in town. To sum it all up: Real genuine place, real genuine people, real genuine food. I highly recommend!

Came here for a friends birthday. There was 7 of us. Food was really good. I had the sliders for both my appetizer and main ... that's how good they were! Service was ok.

The bartender, Ryan, was incredibly rude. I'd say I'll never be back but they're closing anyway. Oh well.

They checked the box for lunch, but they don't open until 4pm. Clearly someone that just checks every box.

Cloudy, rainy, foggy, not the best day to be traveling to the Adirondacks when the Fall colors are…read moreat their peak. Surprisingly enough, there was a spot along the Northway just outside of Warrensburg that still managed to show off its rainbow sherbet of colors. Our objective, however, was to meet my sister in Chestertown for dinner at O. P. Fredricks. Arriving at 4 PM when they opened there were already a few people in the bar and in the dining room. They don't take reservations, so it was wise to arrive early. By 4:30 there were people waiting for a table. The atmosphere inside is truly Adirondack with hewn wood beams and paneling. Before I forget, the chairs are really comfortable. The menu was surprisingly, large. In addition to the evening's specials, which included three entrées, there were a dozen shareable appetizers (emphasis on "shareable"), four salads, 19 regular entrées (all accompanied by a fresh salad and bread [we never received any bread, but I didn't see it served to other tables either]), four steaks, at least a dozen different handheld sandwiches, quesadillas, and a kids' menu. There is a full bar including a half dozen drafts. Our beverages to start were a Wolf Hollow draft Camp Out Stout ($8), a Saranac Ginger Beer ($4), and a glass of Mondavi Chardonnay ($7). The portion size of the Baked Brie ($11) was truly shareable. The brie was warmed without being runny, served on top of a tasty garlic bread made from pressed hamburger bun slices, and topped with a melba sauce. It was so delicious! Just like the appetizers, entrée portions are large. We each took half of ours home. My sister was very pleased with her Seafood Stuffed Portobello ($26) - the stuffed portobello was broiled and topped with shrimp scampi and, as all of our entrées, served over the house rice pilaf. My wife's Scallops Rockefeller ($31.95) included sautéed scallops (oddly on one side only), mushrooms, chopped bacon, and baby spinach, finished with an anisette flambé, and served over the previously mentioned rice pilaf. Another tasty dish. My choice was their Jambalaya ($28). It was a delicious combination of sautéed chicken, shrimp, andouille sausage, mixed peppers, onions, and diced tomatoes mixed with the ubiquitous rice pilaf. It had just the right amount of spiciness for my taste to make it a thoroughly enjoyable meal. To wrap things up, we shared the Maple Bread Pudding ($7) with cups of coffee ($3 each). The bread pudding was moist with just enough maple flavor to satisfy a sweet craving. Service throughout was very attentive and friendly. Did I mention how comfortable the chairs are? And yes, their rice pilaf does go very well with everything. We're looking forward to a future visit. UPDATE: The Jambalaya is soooo good the 2nd day, I suggest you order it as takeout to eat the following day. And they are even nice enough to have removed the tails from the shrimp before the dish is served.

My family and I are staying on Schroon Lake and we were looking for a nice place to have dinner…read more The restaurant is very nice inside and has an awesome view of the Adirondack mountains behind it. The waiter was very friendly, attentive, and personable. Although the menu is very limited, all seven in our party found something appealing to order. The appetizers and dinners arrived in a timely manner. The food was absolutely delicious. The thick cut, locally sourced pork chops were amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The prices aren't cheap, but the great food, drink, staff and atmosphere made it worth it!

We loved our lodging experience and I have to give a great shoutout for the dining experience…read more Breakfast every day. For the days they aren't open for lunch they have a sandwich bar + paper bags so you can take lunch with you. It's good quality sandwich stuff too - ham , turkey , roast beef; Cheddar , American ; 3 different types of breads. And condiments! Dinner reservations should be made in advance if you want to eat in the 5-6 range. We were here often since it was easier. We enjoyed our meals. Likely since it was close to Labor Day their kitchen staff was dwindling (and not sure Covid has done to their restaurant staff experience in general) so patience is everything. When we visited there was one cook. Their burgers and salads and soups and fries and kids meals are all very good. They have great beer / wine selections. There's no point to drive an hour away to eat every night when you have a great place right there. But definitely don't forget to make reservations :)
