This will be a very thorough and detailed review. I had been shopping around for a car for my wife. She favored a Dodge Durango (I put this information in here because I want this dealership to know exactly who I am). Before we spend close to $30,000, we wanted and started comparing this type of vehicle's prices in consideration of year, miles, vehicle history, CPO, etc before making any final decision. It boiled down to Basics or Pearson at that point. Let me make this clear...the salesmen Stanley and Barry were GREAT! Barry had to leave when we got there but Stanley assisted our questions and concerns to the end. So why a 1-Star? If not for the salespeople it should be a 0 or negative star because of the manager (I believe the name is Steve according to the website under "Meet the Staff"). This is an excerpt from Steve's bio: "Above all [not additionally but above all lol], he believes in going well beyond all expectations in working hard to deliver what customers are looking for." Let me put this mildly...we all are closer to the back side of the moon than Steve is to being anything mentioned in his bio!! Due to his demeanor from the start (I politely asked him where the restroom was located when we arrived and spoken like he was in a drunken state only said down hall on right...I even said thanks...and he replied with silence). I would bet my last dollar that the doctor asked what was this boys problem when he was pulled out at birth!!! But wait there's more... So I listed all the factors we were considering/comparing...here is some context that Stanley got but was obviously higher then Stevie's comprehensive abilities. Basic was selling the Dodge for sticker price $29,500 a little under 14k miles, with stated factors that I thought made it different such a sunroof,etc which was the reason we decided to go check it out. It had no sunroof and was the exact same car as Pearson only difference was in color (Gray vs White) and a slight dent on the right front side. HOWEVER Pearson had its Dodge at $29,000 with a lIttle over 12k miles. I could almost drive to Vegas considering that difference in miles PLUS Pearson's Dodge was CPO (certified pre owned). After it was shown that their Dodge was overpriced in comparison, Steve must of thought he was dealing with some young, no nothing gamblers instead of a college educator and an attorney because he came back with a FINAL OFFER with the exact same price. WHAAATT??? At that point, Steve's masked was uncovered and he wasn't trying to be reasonable and he wanted us gone....and here comes the climax... Stevie gets up (because he was sitting in the background listening to everything probably even our thoughts the whole time like we were on Let's Make a Deal) and he proceeds to yell at Stanley! Stanley reminds me of a soft spoken and kind grandfather...and this mini Danny DeVito Santa looking dude with a hairline further back than cheap seats at a ballgame is LITERALLY yelling at Stanley like a child. WTH?!?! I am still livid...as you can tell by my long review!!! Stanley at bear minimum deserved the RESPECT afforded not only ANYONE and EVERYONE but definitely our ELDERS...PERIOD!! read more

"Can't recommend someone who isn't honest and upfront" Have now bought 2 cars here. This would have been a glowing rating but during the purchase process for the 2.d car there was a snag with the financing over the price. In order to fix it we were told "we are just going to lower the cost of the car." What really happened was they just canceled our service contract. This contract was one of the reasons I chose the vehicle and was ok with paying a little more. I cannot honestly write a positive review for someone who would take out part of the sale agreement and not mention it to their customer at all. A lie of omission is still a lie. read more

On 10/24/2021 I bought a used 2015 Toyota Taundra 1794 Edition, from the beginning they were pushy and would talk over me. I told them I just wanted to test drive the truck, they make a copy of my DL and I told them I've only been at my job less than 2 months and I'm in the parts dept. I get back they have pulled my credit and tried to get loans from 8 different banks. Ok they are trying to make money I get it so told them I would let them know the next day. By 10am they had called me four times, i agree to go in and decided I wanted the truck. I told them that the blinker and radio didn't work. They said they would get it taken care of the next day, the next week after I called them 10/30/2021 I turn my truck in to get these two things fixed as it was under warranty, also I had told Joey I wanted an extended warranty and gap insurance he huffed and puffed and told me I didn't need it, but after going back and forth he added it, but not the extended warranty like I asked and was willing to pay for. They also shorted me $500 for what they said they would give me for my trade in and didn't take it off the processing fees like Scott said he would when I told him about it. Anyway, they call me later the same day and say everything is fixed. I get there and the blinker is still not fixed, it hyper blinks, they only replaced the antenna, with a used old bent/rusty one, I guess $25 to get a new one for this 45K truck I bought from them was too much. They said they will get the parts for the lights; a week passes, and they haven't called other than asking for me to send a copy of my SSN to Joey's personal cell phone or email which he said was for DMV purposes even though I've never had to do this when buying a vehicle before ever. I reluctantly send the picture and I asked about when my truck would be fixed, he said he would call me first thing in the morning and I heard nothing, and the truck starts leaking antifreeze, so I call them again and let Joey know that its leaking and I've heard nothing from them about the lights, he says to just keep adding antifreeze and he's getting the parts for the lights the next day. Never hear from him so I called him two days later and couldn't get a hold of him, so I looked up the owner's name and number and called him, this got me nowhere. He just told me what he thought I wanted to hear. Finally, Joey calls and he told me to bring it in next week and that he doesn't appreciate me getting the owner involved and was very upset with me, it's Tuesday of the next week I call because I've heard nothing from them, still don't have the lights, Joey wants me to wait another day I said ok. Thursday and I still haven't heard anything, so I call them, they have me drop it off the next week. Two days later I get it back and they didn't fix all the lights like joey assured me they were doing; he hadn't bought the set. They also mixed different antifreeze's together and just filled the tank up never fixed the actual leak and had poured antifreeze all over the engine bay. I spent days cleaning it all out as it is very corrosive to metal. So I take it to my mechanic, he checks it over and finds it needs new rear brakes the oil was never changed and only had 5 of the 8 quarts it was supposed to have and flushes out the radiator and fixes the leak, Costing me $450.00. They would only pay $134 for part of the flush, this doesn't cover the cost of paying to have the old antifreeze they put in it disposed of nor the new antifreeze they put in it, just the flush. I just want the full amount $450 for stuff they said they did, I had to get an oil change also because they had not done that ether and said they did along with the inspection. I feel cheated and was very disrespected through this whole transaction, I would never buy anything from them. The sad part is two of their prior employees told me I would regret doing business with them and they were right. Once they got their money, they could have careless about anything else. read more

The salespeople here are good, the manager however is a complete moron who will attempt to intimidate you in order to make his deal, he said the only way we could get the car for the price we offered (which was reasonable) was if we brought a gun and a mask. We followed up several days later and the manager once again was rude and refused to budge on the price and told us not to call unless we went down to his price. So just an overcap, the salesmen are great but their manager is a complete a**hole who needs to be disciplined by his higher ups and taught how to treat customers. read more

When I purchased my car from Basic Auto via. eBay the photos were deceptive to avoid the obvious mechanical damage (broken windshield, hello?). On way home the dash lit up like it was Christmas. Buying a vehicle can be a daunting task that takes time and being that it is not done everyday, even the best and brightest can struggle with the process and have buyers remorse after the sale because of the manner in which one is treated during the process. I just had a very positive experience with the purchase of an almost new 2019 Nissan Frontier that I had Basic Auto Sales search and find for me with my exact specifications on color and features. I bought a car for my daughter in Feb and have had the car in their shop 5 times. When I purchased the vehicle Eric assured me the warranty he sold me would cover everything this apparently isn't true. The last time car was the for the exact problem it had another time that apparently wasn't fixed it's now going to cost almost $200 to fix because Eric doesn't want to cover it. Then tells my daughter what does she want him to do rebuild her car. Well let me see you haven't repaired the car correctly you haven't repaired the 2 other things rear defroster and seat warmer which were supposed to be covered also under your warranty and you want to tell me you have already spent to much on the vehicle and that's my fault? You sold me a warranty which its covered. I bought this vehicle because I thought you were honest apparently I WAS WRONG! Any business shouldn't talk to their customers the way you speak to them after they have purchased a vehicle. Can I give a zero star?! My husband I went to buy a car on Saturday and was told the DMV system was down but the car was ours. Was told on Monday that they wanted to keep the car to clean it, but would call on Tuesday and we could pick the car up. Ok no problem. No call on Tuesday, so I called 3 times on Wednesday. What I got was complete disrespect. I spoke with the so called GM who yelled at me for over 5 minutes. He said "I've been bending over backward for you working with the bank, you should be singing me thank yous, so hang up the phone and being me some lunch." To be honest I think they had been lying the whole time and just wanted to string us along. We thought on Saturday that we were good to go with the car, we had no idea the bank was still involved. I just wanted to an update. I know this is a dealership that works with people who have bad credit but that doesn't give anyone the right to talk to people the way I was spoken to. We purchased a vehicle with Basic Auto Sales this October in 2015 and the buying process was very pleasant and they really work with your financial situations in buying the vehicle you want. We couldnt take the vehicle off the lot though since they said they had to replace a seatbelt before they could pass the state inspection. We were told that Saturday it would be ready by Monday and that they already had the part. WELL Monday came along and I drove two hours from Harrisonburg to pick it up, and once I arrived they said that they hadnt gotten the seatbelt in the mail yet. FUNNY CUS THEY HAD TOLD US THEY ALREADY HAD IT. Anyways, they told us it would be ready Wednsday and I called to see if it was ready before i drove back and I was then told that they HADNT ORDERED THE SEATBELT YET. So I got intouch with the managers and they promised it would br ready by Friday. WELL Friday came along and they came to tell us it would be ready Tuesday!! So me and my fianse backed out of buying the truck since they kept running us around in circles. BUT we had a manager come to us and offer to take off $500 off the down payment. So of course that was a great deal and we proceeded with purchasing the vehicle in hopes of taking it home Tuesday. WELL Tuesday came around and it still was not ready. WE FINALLY PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FRIDAY. SO 2 WEEKS LATER WE FINALLY DROVE THE VEHICLE OF THE LOT. Now since you guys now know the FIRST ISSUE. I can explain the SECOND ILLEGAL ISSUE. We had the vehicle now for 2 weeks, we had driven it off the lot and had noticed the vehicles windshield was not properly caulked down. We didnt take it back cus we were already tired of getting the run around from these people. Now in the end of the 2nd week of finally having the vehicle THE BRAKES WENT OUT AND WE COULD NOT SLOW DOWN WITH THE BRAKE AT ALL!! LUCKILY IT WAS A MANUAL TRANSMISSION SO WE WERE ABLE TO DOWNSHIFT AND NOT HURT OURSELVES OR OTHERS. My fianse, who does road construction and works on heavy machinery checked the brakes out on the side of the road and the BRAKE CALIPER WAS BROKEN, THE BRAKE PADS WERE COMPLETLY WORN AND THE ROTOR WAS ABOUT TO RUST THROUGH BEING PAPER THIN. State Law requires your brakes to be throughly checked to pass inspection. Well these brakes did not pass inspection at all. Basic Auto Sales was more worried about a seatbelt then A F350 SUPER DUTY NOT BEING ABLE TO STOP. Now if you remember we originally purchased the vehicle in October, well the inspection sticker had been put on in SEptember, State Law requires and vehicle to have any non passing issues taken care of and fixed/replaced before an inspection sticker can be placed on a vehicle. WELL THEY ILLEGALLY PLACED AN INSPECTION STICKER ON THE TRUCK BEFORE!!! THE VEHICLE ACTUALLY PASSED INSPECTION AND ALSO DID NOT PASS INSPECTION DUE TO NOT HAVING ANY BRAKE PADS AND BAD ROTORS. BASIC AUTO SALES DOESNT CARE ABOUT A CUSTOMERS SAFETY. BASIC AUTO SALES WILL GIVE YOU A RUN AROUND. I DO NOT RECOMMEND BASIC AUTO SALES TO ANYMONE, WHATSOEVER. read more

I will never go to or recommend anyone else to go to Basic Auto Sales. The salesmen and I worked out a deal and I gave a deposit on a truck. They had to put two tires on it and clean it up, so I showed up the next day to check the status. It was not ready so I left and was to return later. I got a call about an hour later saying that I needed to pay more money the owner wasn't going to loose any money. I thought it was a joke I sat there for 2 hours the day before working out a deal we shook hands and I signed and payed a deposit. I showed up pissed and the owner wouldn't even come down from his office and be a man and explain to ,e what was going on. The salesmen had to go up and down the stairs saying I needed to come up with more money. The only thing was said was we don't do business like this, we don't do business like this.
