For the first time in over 50 years we could not prepare our own Thanksgiving dinner so we tried a prepared meal for the first time. This review is only for the prepared $79.99 Thanksgiving Turkey dinner we purchased. For some reason our original review was never posted except for a photo. We had assumed that this package would be prepared by the deli, which it wasn't. Basha's advertisements could (should) have been clearer to avoid this disappointment. The package included a pre-cooked Butterball turkey which re-heated reasonably well but was a bit dry probably because the instructions stated "No water in the pan", thus no basting to help with moisture. Included were two boxes of frozen mashed potatoes which had an odd texture and were gluey; one box of frozen cranberry/orange relish which was overly sweet and bitter tasting mainly like orange peel; one box of frozen gravy which we augmented somewhat; one frozen box of dressing which was decent; and one package of dinner rolls which were extremely damp in the package. These may have been previously frozen but were so damp we saved them for a later day. In fact, several days later they were so full of mold that we just threw them out. These may or may not have come from Bashas' bakery which is usually pretty good. All in all the package was overpriced and disappointing. We will likely never purchase another prepared meal, at least not from Basha's. read more

The Bashas at Kolb and Sunrise is a great store. We get a lot of good deals in the meat section and the produce is great too. The deli is consistently good. Great beer selection and prices. The staff is excellent. We drive past two Safeways and it's worth it. One other thing that's actually one of the biggest differences to us is: Bashas app is better than Fry's or Safeway/Albertsons, much easier to use. read more

Worst experience ever at the Bashas on Kolb/Sunrise location on Saturday early evening! Our family has been shopping here since they opened at least over 18 years and have never had such a horrible encounter with the Store Manager she must be new . I was checking out in the self service line and randomly comes up to me and comments a nasty comment using a cuss word that she thought I was thinking when I was shopping earlier and couldn't go down the Water isle where she was stocking the shelves. I proceeded to tell her I never said that or would never talk to anyone like that. Mind you I'm 66 years old a Senior.Well I thought to myself just finish checking out and let it go but when I left and was filling my cup with water from the soda machine she came up to me again and said they were having problem's with the self checkout machines and wanted to see my receipts and said do you have them , I told her yes I have several receipts since I did 3 transactions and I gave them to her. Both times she approached me there were many customers around I was humiliated brought tears to my eyes! This time I wasn't about to let it go I wanted to talk to the store manager Nick which knows us very well but she said he already went home and she was just joking with me! Bashas you need to do better on who you hire this person was so unprofessional!! Groceries are so expensive these days if I'm spending hundreds of dollars a week there I want to it be a pleasant experience. read more

First time here and it's a nice clean Arizona based grocery chain that features many items and has a Starbucks inside this location. The bakery had some tasty treats and florals were nice. Reasonably priced and have many great weekly specials to check out. read more

Far more reasonable in price and selection than the Safeway I visited. They seem to value the "customer experience" in terms of fixtures and merchandising. I just want reasonably low prices and decent selection. The prices were more reasonable than Safeway, but Bashas' is vulnerable to Walmart, and Aldi if Aldi ever arrives. read more

Today was my day to try a different Bashas. At first look, I feel like it's upscale. Horizontal Glass doors that are raised to allow patio seating. When you go in , the pharmacy is in the front. It seems wider.. A lot more cold food items are behind glass doors like butter, yogurt and bagged cheese. I did not do any meats so next review I will look. The vegetable section was of great interest to me and didn't disappoint. Neat rows, good stacking, lots of bright clean colors. I have to get used to placement but I ll give the store a few shopping days. It's only a little out of my way. Very good register management. We were two deep at three registers and they opened two more, mine was the store manager. I think that shows Care and intent. I like it. I ll be be back. read more

A big pet peeve of mine is when stores let rotten produce sit on the shelf. Came last night for a few things and wanted to get some strawberries but all the boxes on the shelf were moldy. Not in a convenient location for me, but there is no denying that this is a beautiful, well-stocked store. I can't comment on the prices relative to other chains -- I don't have enough experience. What brings me here is the meat department. Bashas' is virtually the ONLY supermarket chain that labels its hamburger by cut -- ground round, ground chuck, ground sirloin. But that's not all! Most recently I came here for the advertised porterhouse steaks. What's a porterhouse? Don't know, do ya! That's 'cause no one sells them! But there it is, in the Wednesday advertisements, an offer I can't refuse, and off I go making a special trip, just for this steak. So -- what's a porterhouse? The porterhouse is a composite steak that's derived from the point where the tenderloin and top loin meet. They look like T-bones. But Porterhouse steaks are cut from the rear end of the short loin and thus include more tenderloin steak, along with (on the other side of the bone) a large strip steak. T-bone steaks are cut closer to the front, and contain a smaller section of tenderloin. Whatever. I sous-vide those puppies for two hours and then seared them on a 900° charcoal flame. Freak'n delicious. The point of this little butcher lesson is that you can get cuts of meat here at Bashas' that no other generic grocery store bothers to provide, and often at a price point that's reasonable, affordable, or frankly, on occasion, for a ridiculous sale price. And that's why, even though it isn't convenient, I sometimes shop at Bashas'. Oh, and free fruit for your kids, exclusively in the produce department. read more

In relationship to COVID-19 the store today at 6am had a large line waiting for the toilet paper/paper towel isle. The store was spotless and the manager/staff were making sure that folks adhered to the 2&2 rule for the aforementioned items. This grocery store has really gone downhill. We've lived in this neighborhood 35 years and they've gone from being your friendly neighborhood market to a jump through the hoops to get the price they advertise if you want the posted prices and then you have to open an app scan coupons bend over backwards do , somersaults to get the price they list. I know the gimmick is they figure most people won't pay attention to their receipts, I don't know how the store is going to make it. We made a special trip across town with the youngster who wanted to show me that this Bashas' has showers. He had been years before and had told me about them many times, so we made the trek out of our way. Well, the showers are no longer available, but since we had the plan to visit this store we stayed for lunch. This location offers a nice selection of by-weight salad bar; fresh veggies, canned varieties, meats, cheeses, etc. I always enjoy a salad bar and this one was as decent as you'd expect. The dressing were old and gloppy and unattractive with a film on the top of a few of them. The service is friendly, the store is clean. It's a great grocery store with the addition of a salad bar and no showers. Shower before you get there! read more

If I was handing out awards for grocery stores, this Bashas' would be the WINNER! The store is immaculate, I've literally never seen a grocery store this clean and organized. The employees are friendly and helpful going out of their way to take you directly to an item you're searching for rather than pointing you in the direction. The produce was fresh and delicious. And their hot food, was amazing. I was thoroughly impressed. I will start going out of my way just to shop here again. And I have to give a shout out to their shopping carts. I love the genius idea of having a place to hang your purse, Bravo! They're lightweight plastic making it easy to maneuver and manage. Having an open back made so much sense....mind blown. I've actually never shopped with one of these before, so I was incredibly impressed once again. Clean an well lit but the positives end there. The store is poorly merchandised with products hard to find. If you buy organic products they are in an entirely different part of the store. If you are looking for something, employees are hard to find and if you do find them they avoid eye contact and run the other way. They have something like 6 registers but rarely have more than two open even when lines are three or more deep. The self check out is difficult to use and you must request help frequently but they are slow to respond. Finally, in order to not be over charged (get Bashes discount) you must have ANOTHER dongle on your key chain. Checkout clerks will not give you the discount without it. Even with the Bashes discount, prices are not competitive. Watch out for frequent gouging schemes! I would avoid this store if I were you. read more

This review is just for the self check out machines. I've been shopping at this Bashas for over 15 years as it's the closest to the house. It's clean, the staff work hard and are helpful, produce is fresh and shelves are well-stocked with more variety since the remodel a few years ago. I was glad to see them install self check out machines during the remodel. When the machines work, it's so convenient. The problem is the machines only work half the time and are so unpredictable. Infrequently are staff available to help if there is a problem. Nothing is more frustrating then scanning your items to have the message pop up that there's a problem and that assistance will be needed and no one is nearby to fix it. The store needs to have staff on hand at all times (like they do at Target) to help. Otherwise I'd recommend just going through the regular check out than risk having to be stuck in self check out. read more

I'm so disgusted with this store. I go as little as possible even though it's the closest grocery store near me. I was so excited, yesterday, to see they redid their produce department ! I bought Organic strawberries which I opened up this morning to find out most of them were spoiled. I returned them today and argued with ,Dong, one of the assistant managers with him saying I paid $1.25 until it finally registered I bought Organic. I know a penny doesn't really make a difference but he did give me back the $3.99 I paid for it. I'm not trying to be petty but honestly $4.00 cash return instead of the $3.99 would have kept me trying to be a customer. Once again, not using this store unless it's absolutely needed. read more

I hate writing bad reviews but this is too much to ignore. Slow service, high prices and they shut down their registers around 7:30pm when many stop in to shop. How pathetic this place is to make their customers do THEIR work at the check out. I even went in before sunset to get two bread rolls and they took them out already. It's past pathetic and just plain lazy. If they workers are smart they should look for work elsewhere before they go out of business. This was my first shopping excursion since the Covid-19 Pandemic was declared. I appreciate Basha's senior citizen hour on Wednesday mornings at 5 AM. I arrived at 4:45 AM and waited in line for the doors to open. There were no santizing wipes for the carts, but an employee had sprayed them all down with a sanitizing chemical. Most items I needed were in stock with the exception of the virus related shortages. Meat and Pasta were in shore supply, but eggs, produce, bread and dairy were in good supply. TP was available, but the supply was low. There was very little to no stock of hand sanitizer, soaps, wipes, etc. As of a few days ago, a recommendation was made that everyone wear a protective mask. Every customer in the store was wearing one, but none of the cashiers or people stocking the shelves were. The point of the mask it keep from spreading the virus to others. You'd think that the employees would be more careful, especially during the weekly senior hour when the most "at risk" customers are visiting them. In addition to the employees not wearing masks, they were also not adhering to social distancing recommendations. Employees were standing shoulder to shoulder while stocking the shelves. Overall, the experience met my expectations, but the store needs to focus a little sharper on meeting the heath and safety recommendations so everyone stays safe. read more

Bacon Maple Donuts - oh my! Sure, the doc says no, but who listens to the doctor anymore? This store has a great deli department, fantastic pizzas for 7 bucks, and a great selection in produce. They introduced me to Jazz Apples which are so flavorful, it made me feel like I was a kid trying an apple for the first time. The Starbucks in the store is always staffed by friendly and speedy baristas, and the birthday cake pops are out of this world. The cashiers are always very friendly and helpful. I like that they offer paper as an option. In addition, this store is always clean and is fairly priced. Couldn't ask for a better local grocery store. read more

The management is lacking. The service can either be really random-- good or bad depending on who is in front of you. The produce is second tier compared to Safeway. The other day bought the potatoes on sale. came home opened the bag threw them out. therewere two black and moldy potates that had made the bag toxic. Cut open one of the small watermelons, the rind on the inside looked weird and the texture was mealy and bed. So threw that out. I have bought ice cream that had melted and refrozen. Bought it and was inedible. any store that cares about their reputation would not sell this stuff in the first place! read more

This review is for the Starbucks stand located here. Today makes me want to stand on the hood of my car, outstretch my hands to the sky under the falling snow and say in my best Bane (from Batman) voice, "What a beautiful day, let us drink coffee". Minus the theatrics, I actually did buy a coffee today from Starbucks. Sometimes the timing is just right. Nobody is in line, the coffee is brewed just seconds before you walk in and with your unscrewed tumbler, receive that perfect cup of Joe. The place was clean; the staff was moving quickly however no napkins were found in the dispensers. Not a single one. I must subtract one handful of beans for no napkins. Gave Bashas a few chances after my last review and was so happy because the last times I went to the checkout I WAS asked if I would prefer to put the transaction on my Bashas card, or the cashiers card. Then I go today and the girl at the checkout does it AGAIN!!! She had swiped another card, the question again is who's ? Is it hers? Does she get my rewards is it the stores? I told her I preferred the amount be recorded on my card. The cashier said she did not want to interrupt my phone conversation. I'm not blind, I was looking at her. With a wave of her hand I would have seen her. She did not like that at all. There was a line and I'm sure she expected for me to say it was all right. But I don't think it was correct and her attitude was awful. She voided the first transaction and proceeded to let me know she was pissed by throwing all my groceries out of the bags and at that time I just wanted out. She did not apologize, she just said, once again that the majority of the people did not care. I thought that was very disrespectful to me as a client and as a person !!! I asked to see the manager and he promptly came out. He did not greet me, I introduced myself and asked if he was the manager to which he replied yes. I proceeded to tell him what just had happened and he listened, said I was correct in stating that loyalty cards are for discounts. He apologized and said that the cashiers were not supposed to do this without asking the client first. He was very professional, asked if he could re-ring everything up again, went looking for the young man that had taken away the cart, got a cashier and redid my groceries. After paying , I did get my 2.00 discount coupon. So again if a loyalty card is distributed it should be used for YOUR benefit. I don't understand who's card it is they use when doing this? Does the cashier keep any coupons that come out? Kudos to the manager - Tom - for being a gentleman !! He even offered to take the groceries to my car. He saved me from having to go to another store nearby and doing everything again. He also made me think about giving this store another chance. read more

I tried and tried to like this grocery store. It is very close to where I live, but I am not thrilled with their selection or quality. I am a very healthy eater (so I eat the perimeter of any grocery store) and while I know there is an organic section...it is very limited! I would go there for bottled water, tea at Starbucks or a pint of ice cream (for company). That's about it. After having a recent problem with Safeway, I've decided to turn my attention towards another store and Basha's was right down the street. I can't review it during its busy day hours but my husband and I went late at night around 9. We were so impressed by their organized freezer section. Everything you need is so visible and right there in perfect stacks. No more searching through the frost and getting frozen finger tips just to find a certain bag of vegetables or that pizza you wanted. We walked around the store some more and tried to get the gist of it. From what we could tell, it was very well organized and kept clean. Plus even though it was late the cashier was more than happy to check us out and didn't hint an "ugh" or "sigh". We will be using this location/store from now on. read more
