I know my Lebanese food, and this place beats all local competitors (Amir, Boustan, Basha, Adonis)…read morehands down in terms of freshness, taste, service, and cleanliness. I took advantage of a flyer coupon to try a shawarma pita trio. The shawarma was a tasty, well-seasoned, generous portion with nice condiments especially the lefet. The potatoes were a highlight: well-spiced, very generous, delicious pan-fried and served with a huge dollop of very fresh garlic sauce. And for soft drinks (which I normally wouldn't even mention), you can get a can of practically any kind - how many places offer Diet Doctor Pepper? My one criticism is that I would prefer my food a touch warmer in temperature - nothing was cold, but nothing could be considered piping hot. The place is spotlessly clean, very bright and open - quick-service, yes, but pleasant. The staff are multilingual and friendly. I like that they use real plates and silverware for their dine-in customers. I was so impressed that I asked if I could use a 2nd coupon and get a mixed plate to go. The counter guy grimaced and said usually it's against the 1-coupon-per-visit policy, but he would ask the owner... who said ok. As the owner pointed out, if I am ready to order takeout after finishing a full meal, I must really like the food. The combo had the shawarma and shish taouk on rice and potatoes, 2 choices of very fresh salad (I chose beets and Greek salad, but there were about 10 choices that looked great), 2 servings of sauce (hummus, garlic sauce) and a pita. Another generous portion, in a convenient container (not the awful styrofoam clamshell). I will be back once a week for a combo plate at regular price, which is very reasonable and completely on par with the local competition. They even said they sold kibbe, but it wasn't on the menu. I think it will be worth it to look into the "hidden menu." Although I'm already disappointed that there is no sfiha, I'm sure there will be other tasty treasures.

This restaurant used to be called "Souriana" and it recently underwent a name change. It is…read moredescribed as Lebanese cuisine. They feature grilled meats, like chicken skewers, lamb and beef along with shawarma and a few other specialities such as pastries and "Manakish" (pizzas). Located on Tashereau close to 3 Amigos, this restaurant doesn't stand out from the outside, but since I got a flyer in the mail, I noticed the name change, I think "Coin du Charbon" is a clever way to attract customers. If you are looking for grilled meats, there is a good selection here. I opted for a filet mignon platter, which was essentially filet mignon skewers served with pita, your choice of potatoes/rice and salad. The meat was tender, juicy and everything was well seasoned. At around $16 or $17 a plate, the pricing and portion was generous. I have no complaints about the food, I enjoyed my meal- however when we entered the restaurant to order, we got zero reception and the overall atmospwhere seemed uninviting. They have 4 large TV screens for the menu, but 2 of the screens were not functioning. No one greeted us or offered additional information about the menu, yet we were the only customers and there seemed to be no rush. No smiles, no effort to be friendly... (even with a mask on, you can tell if someone is trying to smile usually but this wasn't the case). Customer service should be improved, as for that point alone I wouldn't really want to go back.

Ô Four Express - Baked falafel wrap

I figure it's only fitting, I should write the first review of their new express location, since I…read moredid for their original location as well. From the look of it they are focusing on their very popular (and for good reason) sandwich wraps with a variety of fillings. As I thought they have a well thought out list of sandwiches, wrapped in their fabulous manoushe (Middle Eastern flatbread) fresh dough wrap. The baked falafel is a standout as it is not only baked but smashed before baking and then double baked on location for some serious extra warmth and comfort going down. They also have Zaatar and cheese as another non-meat option. I had tried their chicken wrap prior, so I know why it's now considered famous. They also have a thinly sliced smoked meat and authentic Lebanese desserts and boxes of imported baklava which is beyond refined and delicious. It's hard to stop once you've had one piece so take the rest home a spread it over a few days of sweet goodness with your tea or coffee. You can boost your meal as a trio with either cheese potatoes or salad and a soft drink or fruit juice for $5. The ambiance is airy and fresh with a very high ceiling and a mezzanine level. One entire exposed brick wall gives the space a mixed feel and the art adds to the overall look and feel - a bit Old Montreal gallery-like. If you know that the name of their restaurant means in the oven in English, you'll know that the carbs surrounding these fillings are well worth the calories. The owner's hospitality is beyond measure as a bonus, so see you again soon, to continue doing some serious sandwiching. I heard they have a new south shore option on Tachereau in La Praire. Good to know and lucky for the 'southshorers'!
