This company catered my wedding on 6/4/16. Nearly a year later the owner emailed me to ask if he could right his wrongs, etc. I've added screen shots of all the emails that ensued 1 year after our event was finished. I did not approach this man, he approached me. Note that I highlighted the area in which he asks if my spouse and I are manhaters. This is especially important to note as we are lesbians so this is a very calculated statement to make. Do NOT hire Bar Time! The owner is extremely unprofessional and is a complete joke. We hired Bar Time months ago for our wedding that took place the first week of June. We corresponded with the owner for months, reviewed the contracts, and paid the balance in advance for an open bar with premium liquor and two bartenders for 5 hours. We ended up paying around $3,000.00 and boy were we scammed!! Firstly, the bartenders ran out of cups at 8pm and had to BUY some off of our catering vendors. They came back with small styrofoam water cups an hour later. Before they came back with cups our guests were picking up cups off of tables and cleaning them off to get drinks! I cringe every time I think about how embarrassing this was at our wedding, which only happens one time. Darryl, the owner of this company, explained that he only accounted for 1.5 drinks per person! We had paid for 120 people and only 110 people showed up. 10 people were actually children who were not drinking alcohol. Additional persons not on a list were not allowed in the venue, as sanctioned by the city of Long Beach's Parks and Recreations. Further, we had to hire security and security only allowed our 110 guests on the list to enter the fenced area. Bar Time also ran out of beer that we had never requested in the first place (this was clearly stated in our contract). So for nearly an hour the bartenders were not serving any alcohol to our guests. It was not only embarrassing but extremely frustrating, as we had corresponded with the owner several times via email to ensure that all the necessary supplies would be available during the five hours that we hired the company. To make matters worse, at the end of the night the owner approached myself and my wife, in front of our guests, and argued with us about running out of cups and alcohol. Eventually I ended the conversation and said that we would speak about the matter later. Secondly, the owner of the company informed my wife, this afternoon, that our WEDDING PLANNER should have gone to get beer for the bartenders when Bar Time ran out!!! (I am literally laughing at loud right now, as I consider this man to be a complete JOKE!) Finally, when my wife called to debate all of the many issues we had with his company during our wedding, the owner argued with her for 45 minutes until he agreed to give us $280.00 of our $3,000.00 back, because that was the Yelp discount. Before my wife debated this with her, the owner was only going to offer us 8% back, after apologizing profusely for the many mistakes him and his bartenders (whom he hired from Craigslist) made during our wedding. This man is a complete joke! To the owner of Bar Time- I hope you experience Karma for you unprofessionalism, your inability to feel remorse for all the mistakes that you could have prevented (which include way more than what I even wrote in this review), and that you truly reconsider the business that you're in. To the person(s) considering utilizing Bar Time for your next event: Do yourself a favor and go with another bartending service or simply stock your own bar and hire bartenders separately. I hired them for a Friday night event and a Sunday event for the same weekend. Their staff was very unprofessional. Not to mention that one was very late. Another one was talking crap about me to my housekeeper and I guess treating my things with so much disrespect, it was pathetic! My house keeper was very intimated and scared by him. He was telling her NOT to come when I would call out to her. She has been with me for years and years and has NO clue who I am or how we work together. I was very upset when she told me all this. They were basically JERKS! I will never use this service again, ever! Also, whomever I was dealing with over the phone gave my a bunch of lip service and excuses. He doesn't understand how an apology goes a lot further than excuses. The Sunday team was a bit better, although slow and a bit late as well. The Cook was disheveled and not very clean. I guess his food was fine, but I wasn't pleased in his presentation. I also hate how they hang around like salivating dogs for a tip after they are finished. Maybe that should be wrapped into he cost of the service price so you can enjoy your event and not have to deal with doling out funds at the end of your event. I've spoken with you plenty of times and NEVER did you once say that you would not refund me. You said you were waiting for a refund. I gave you enough time from Sept to Dec to refund the balance. I'm not saying that you never tried but the FACT is that if you do require supplies for other jobs, then why wouldn't you just keep the top shelf liquor that was purchased and use it for another event. We hired Darryl and his staff for our surprise wedding on 12/27/15. We not only hired them for bartending, but also decided to source our servers from Bar Time as well since we had just had catered food delivered that needed to be plated and served. Communicating with him was very quick and to the point. Our wedding was a few weeks away and Darryl went out of his way to go to the office to do all the scheduling and admin work on a Sunday! I was kind of nervous thinking I should go with one of my coordinator's vendor recommendations, but so happy I just went with my instinct. I used BarTime for a nonprofit event. It was our 10th anniversary celebration, with 220 guests in a beautiful space, many of the guests being longtime donors or political-types. The bartenders who worked our event were top notch - efficient and friendly. We will definitely use BarTime's services, again, and will specifically request these two bartenders who worked our event. Of particular note, Darryl, who manages BarTime's operations, is extremely knowledgeable about the permitting process and obtaining the correct insurance. Update: Over the last several weeks I have been in contact with Daryl as he has tried to make things right. I commend Daryl for being a great small business owner and doing everything he can in making sure I was satisfied with his services. He refunded me for the extra fees, and spoke with his employees about the night. Given Daryl's willingness to figure out what happened and attempts to fix what went wrong, I can tell he's an upstanding guy and proud of his business. ------------------- I was planning earlier last year for an Aug 2016 wedding at one of LA's more popular venues. At the time I was having a lot of trouble finding bartending services to respond to my requests for quotes. Even though there were some red flags at the time, Daryl won over my business with his prompt email and phone calls. He was extremely understanding and willing to accommodate to every special request I had. With a wedding budget that was spiraling out of control, a quote from Daryl that was 30-50% below what others were charging, we decided to bite the bullet and go with BarTime. My wedding was at one of Marvimon Productions properties. While they admittedly have very strict rules around alcohol, I don't believe that any of them were major factors as to why the service we received from BarTime's bartenders were so terrible. Even before the wedding began, I started hearing murmurs of a rude bartender saying inappropriate things in front of my family. As the wedding went on, the inappropriate things became downright rude. My coordinator had to ask the bartenders to stop; which of course they denied any wrongdoing. As the night went on, we noticed that our specialty cocktails were made wrong. Minor details, but still unfortunate when you spend a year planning your perfect wedding. Wrong glasses were used, ice was added to a champagne drink where there was not suppose to be any, drinks were very much on the small and had very light pours. It's pretty standard that mixed drinks are made with 1.5oz of alcohol, however they were pouring with a measuring cup with 1.0oz. When confronted, again the bartenders became combative and unaccommodating. However the most troubling was the fact that the bartenders thought they were running out of alcohol. We had paid for unlimited alcohol for all of our guests. With 3 hours remaining in the night, the bartenders claimed they had run out of a few beer options, Johnny Walker, Jamison, and tequila. My coordinator (who we could not have done without) demanded that the bartenders contact Daryl bring additional bottles to the venue. At this point they must have found more in their stock to replenish the bar. With all said and done, my guests were still able to enjoy themselves; but that's not where the trouble ended. Marvimon Productions requires that all vendors clean up and vacate when the event is over. Unfortunately it seemed that BarTime's bartenders had not parked in the dedicated lot and had their van towed. The event space managers spoke with Daryl, they agreed to allow BarTime to leave their property at the venue until tomorrow morning. However, over the next two day's Daryl was impossible to contact. He claims that he lost his cell phone on what appears to be his most unlucky weekend of a business owner. Since someone had to be onsite waiting for Daryl to show up, I started accumulating charges for someone to be at the event space hoping that Daryl would show up. When my coordinator and the venue manager finally were able to reach him, he agreed to pick up the items on Monday morning. Again, he was late and I accumulated more charges.
