Worst Bartell drugs I've ever been to!!!! Please take your money elsewhere! Should've went across the street to Walgreens. As soon as I entered the store the old Hispanic lady gets out of the register and starts following me. Calls management to stand by the door. She kept following me looking over aisles. I was extremely uncomfortable. I couldn't figure out what her issue was. This bothered me all day. I was in there just to buy body wash. Never stole a day in my life. If there was a way to give less than 1 star I would. I needed pick up some meds and was in a rush because I had to pick up the person the meds were for fro. The ER. Came to Bartells only to find out that they can't even follow their own hours. Like they closed 20 minutes early. Just because they claim to be local sure as f------ doesn't mean better. read more

We started using this pharmacy because Kaiser said we could get prescriptions filled here and our Tri-care will also be accepted there so it seemed like a good solution. It's been a less than pleasant experience believe me. I took two prescriptions up on a Thursday. One they had in stock, the other had to be ordered. A week later I called and asked where they were. A woman said oh it's held up in the system I'll fix it. I went in the next day, one was there the other was still held up in the system so I had to wait while she fixed it. Then today I took in a prescription at 10:30 in the morning and asked to pick it up this afternoon. The representative said oh we'll call you when it's done and I said no I need it today. there is no excuse for not filling a prescription the same day, they aren't that busy. This has to be the worst pharmacy I have ever used in my life. I have insurance with Kaiser and this is one of the few places I'm allotted to get my blood pressure medication. Every time I have to get a refill or a change in my prescription it's a five hour production. They always state they don't have Kaiser's number and I have to call Kaiser. Then Kaiser tells me the policy is that Bartells needs to contact them to get the prescription. Bartell's always acts like they have no clue what they are doing or can't find the prescription, even after the pharmacist calls and informs you they have the prescription. Long story short, if you have Kaiser don't use this pharmacy. read more

I like the large and varied selection of stock and always find the staff courteous. However, as I have now seen other reviewers also mention, filling an Rx called in by my doctor was impossible. I could see on the Kaiser website it was called in, the location was correct, and the status was "pending" and then "filled". But upon my arrival the pharmacist initially said they had no record of my Rx, then said they did have a record of it but couldn't honor the prescription, then checked again and said they don't have it in stock, followed by saying they DO have it in stock but can't dispense it to me, again blaming my medical facility for these problems. Was it a narcotic? Some weird pain med? Benzos? No. It was an oral rinse called Nystatin, used for mouth sores. My doctor and the Kaiser pharmacist had literally no idea why this was not a cut and dried situation. I ended up having it sent to the Kaiser pharmacy on Steele and though it delayed me over the painful weekend, at least it went off without a hitch. For purchases it is a fun store. For pharmacy prescriptions - avoid. read more

We started using their pharmacy this last year, and have had nothing but problems. The pharmacy manager Nick Firestine has made my wife cry on several occasions. The way he talks to people is very aggressive and condescending. After a year of putting up with Nick my wife finally went to our daughters pediatrician to ask if there was a pharmacy they recommended. She told the lady at the front desk about Bartells pharmacy and a lot of the staff started chiming in. Everyone seemed to have had a similar experience with Bartells. Many of the people in our doctors office recommend Fircrest Pharmacy. Our first impression with them is that they were very helpful and super nice. So we are done with Bartells and our entire family has switched to Fircrest Pharmacy. read more

This pharmacy's service is terrible. I take a certain medication and can only pick it up within a 7-day window after my doctor orders it. After my appointment, I went in and called multiple times but they said the shipment wouldn't come in until after my 7 days were up. Though my dermatologist, as well as myself, requests the medication to be delivered they will not order it in time for me to receive it. Or if they do, they order it on the last day so that I only have one day of the 7 to pick it up. Now I have to make another appointment with my doctor to get another prescription. I will be finding a new pharmacy as soon as I can so I don't have to deal with this. Do not go here. read more

My wife is a Bartell's fiend. There's not many locations in Tacoma but we drive all the way from the other side of town just to shop here for some of their specials. Staff is always friendly and greets you with a smile which is nice. This location is fairly large compared to Walgreen's. Plus there's a taco del mar next door..me likes. :-) read more

Was just in here 5/2 about 5:30 after driving an hour and a half home from Kirkland. I walk in, and the girl who was stocking and then checking when someone comes to the register was by the front door when my husband and I walked inside. I'm 8 months pregnant, so naturally after a drive that long, I really had to pee. We were going there anyways for a purchase, so I figured I would ask her, since she was the first person I came to. I asked if they had a restroom. Simple yes or no question. I kid you not, she stands there and looks me up and down for about 5-10 seconds before telling me that no, they don't have public restrooms. It was almost like she was debating on letting me use their employee one or not, but either way, was wasting a clearly hugely pregnant lady's time that had just asked for a bathroom. Obviously time is of the essence at that stage in pregnancy, and it was extremely off putting that she acted that way. We just moved down the street from here 2 days ago, but we will be going to Walgreens from here on out. read more

My family has been going to Bartells for years! Our favorite one is in University Place. Sue and Kevin have worked there for a long time and whenever they are working, ALWAYS greet us with big smiles and a friendly hello. They always take time to ask how we are doing. My mother and sisters use the pharmacy alot and Mary the and the other employees that work in that area are wonderful too. They all help us with any questions we have. We started going using their pharmacy because Walgreens didn't accept Tricare insurance anymore. If it wasn't for that, we would not have found out how much better Bartell was. Their employees are so friendly in the store itself and their pharmacy staff seem like they actually care. We use them for all our prescriptions now and will continue to use them. read more

I work across the street from this location and catch myself in here all the time. The store is quiet and clean. I usually go in when we run out of coffee at the office. Most of our office staff got our flu shots here as well. We walked in 3 at a time and were all 3 of us were done within 20 minutes! Bartell on 27th Bridgeport university wa is not the same as it use to be. When you like the service you will drive the extra miles. And that's what I do. But lately things have changed there service has got just as bad as all the other Bartell. They now say they are to busy to look up prescriptions for you. she said to do it online. And one day I was in the drive-through waiting for someone to help me and I waited and waited pushed the buzzer a few times and nobody came so I called on my cell phone to see is there anyone there to help. He told me they are to busy to service the window and I would have to come in. I told him that is fine but why wouldn't they put a sign or put closed. I had been waiting for a long time and that is unacceptable. there are to many pharmacies that I pass on the way there. I think it's time to start looking for a new one. There are still a couple employees there that are great and hopefully they get recognized. The last few times I've dealt with this pharmacy I've been extremely disappointed and agitated. The clerk wouldn't give my prescription to my fiance, because he didn't know if I had filled with them or not before, and they wouldn't look it up. Now today, my prescription was sent in electronically 5 hours ago, and was told it isn't ready. You have no idea how badly I want to like this store. They are locally owned and that's the ONLY thing that keeps me coming back. I have never once felt welcome in their store and maybe it's because I don't use their pharmacy. I just read everyone else's reviews and I am completely missing it. I can't think of one visit that I was greeted at all and the last time I was in there was the worst. I put my items by the register and apparently I put them on the wrong side... all 6 small items. If she had been manning the register when I walked up instead of chatting with another employee I would have known which side to put my stuff on. The older lady who was my cashier (and cold as can be) felt the need to pick up my items and move them back to the other side of the register- and mixed with the non-friendly attitude it's hard to go back. I have been using the Bartell's at 27th and Bridgeport in University Place for the past 12 plus years. It's located just up the street from me, so it is very convenient. Years ago, the same pharmacists were always there..they even knew me by sight or by name, as did other clerks working there! These employees were ALWAYS polite and helpful. I felt as if I was going into a store where my business was appreciated. I easily could have gone to the Walgreen's across the street. But I stayed with this Bartell"s because of the welcoming service I received. Now, clearly I don't expect the same pharmacists or employees to stay year after year. People move, retire, lives change. Even a year ago, while I didn't know the pharmacists, the ones handling prescriptions were polite and courteous. I don't know what's happened within the year. Maybe management at corporate offices are trying to save money, so hire inexperienced help? Inexperienced is one thing; joining the work force we all had to start somewhere.However, I shouldn't think that one of the requirements to work at Bartell's also be that you are rude to customers! Being hostile is something else altogether. Now when I call to inquire about a prescription, from the tone of the pharmacist's voice ( annoyed; irritated) , it is obvious that I'm an interruption in their VERY busy schedule! One time I went to the drive -up window to pick up a prescription and the clerk didn't even know how to turn on the speaker to the microphone so I could hear what he was saying. When I explained that I couldn't hear him because he hadn't turned on the speaker, he looked at me very exasperated, as if the fault was mine. I guess I should have been able to read lips! At first I had thought I was possibly being too sensitive or imagining offenses where none were intended. But a previous reviewer on 2/28/2017 has had experiences similar to mine. The main store employees are awesome and the manager is very knowledgeable also. They carry some of the off brands or hard to find items that other drug stores just don't carry, which I appreciate. The cashiers have always been very friendly and courteous. The pharmacy is average, but I've never had a problem with my insurance being billed. There has a been a wait for a prescription they didn't have on hand and I've had to go to 6th avenue. I'm not sure of the turnover like other reviews because it's always the same two people I see when I go in. They have decent sales on seasonal items. Overall, I'm happy with this loacation. read more
