This is a great drug store! I was here once quite a few years ago and wanted to come back for a refresher. It was a nice refresh! This drug store has the typical things like over the counter medications and a place where you get prescriptions. But there is a lot of great gifts here that really puts a retro swing to the place. They have things like beard oil, mustache wax and hold the phone... horehound candy? This was something my grandma enjoyed and it's extremely rare to even find it. Yes, it tastes very intense and is from a completely different era but at one time it was common place in drug stores. They have lots of other great gifts like tea pots, incense sticks , an eclectic assortment of socks, very nice grooming kits and just a whole bunch of other great retro inspired stuff that was once staples in drug stores of yesteryear. If you need a gift or just love trinkets - this is the store for you! I had a migraine coming on and remembered that Ranko's was right down the street from my location, so I happily made my way over to get myself medicated. Initial impressions? It smells like a pharmacy, but kinda looks like a toy store. The over-the-counter section seemed a little small, but they had Excedrin (at a good price!) and that's all I could ever ask for in that moment. I spent some time going through the store and found myself having to sit on my hands - I really, really love trinkets but I promised I wouldn't buy anymore until after I move. They have a really eclectic selection of unique things for adults and children alike and it's worth going through the aisles. The cashier I interacted with was lovely and had me on my way in no time. Staff is extremely friendly, very professional & go above & beyond making sure each customer is very satisfied. You go in a couple of times & you're not treated as just a customer, but like family! I wouldn't go any other place to get my prescriptions filled & the items they have in the store are a treat to look at, especially around each holiday all year long. I went there to get my covid vaccine for the first time last week and boy is it such a cute pharmacy! The pharmacy is located in the back and there is a boutique store in the front with so many cute items! I couldn't help but buy something. The only down side is that they don't have anything to drink at the store. I was super thirsty but couldn't find anything, not even water at the store :( read more

I first began using Rankos for my pharmacy needs over 10 years ago. The previous pharmacy that filled my prescriptions constantly left me waiting for refills with excuses about different problems ranging from a lack of response from doctors to denials from insurance to refill. The majority of the time it was a lack of the pharmacy sharing communication. It was very frustrating and nothing changed until I switched from the national chain stores to local vendor Rankos. Not only does Rankos catch problems like a need for prior authorizations before they occur, they usually have it handled before I become aware of a problem. In addition, they provide the much appreciated service of delivery. If you're tired of the inadequate and impersonal service of the large chain stores then Rankos is pharmacy you're missing! I'm surprised no one has written about Ranko's yet! The iconic Ranko's sign has been around for over 50 years and is located in the heart of the Stadium district, next door to Stadium High School! It is a beautiful little shop - all looks, not so functional as a drug store now. Ranko's is really more of a gift shop. They have a card aisle. They carry some of the Blue Q line of soaps, etc. They have a case full of costume jewelry, many pieces are vintage repro types. They also have lots of knick knacks, including toys. You can find some Schilling tin toys here, webkinz and some very cute children's books. They always have lovely seasonal offerings - decorations & such. While there is a very limited selection of over the counter meds, vitamins and toiletries, they still have a full pharmacy. They also have a US Post window on site. If you live in the area, it's a sweet place to pick up a little gift for someone. They do very nice free gift wrap here also. read more

I wish I could put no stars. I can't deal with them anymore. I never get my prescriptions when I need them. I always have to pay even though my insurance completely covers my prescription. They never take the time to make sure I have all the right sized needles. The pharmacy is in a convenient location but that's where it ends. Terrible service. Pretty sure the old white guy in there is a bigot and doesn't cooperate with me on purpose because I'm a POC transgender person. He even once THREW my prescription and needles at me. I know that seems hard to believe, I was in disbelief too when it happened. Do not transfer your prescriptions here. DO NOT put yourself through HELL trying to deal with his pharmacy. This is a review from 5 years ago that for some reason never got published, so I don't know if the same pharmacist still works here. read more

This is the most unprofessional pharmacy I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. They refuse to call when prescriptions are ready despite dozens of requests to do so. They refuse to call when there is a problem filling a prescription so you have no idea why your prescription isn't ready. I am shocked at how badly they treat their customers. The owner is a horrifically abusive person who intentionally withheld my prescription information from me on a Saturday when I could not get it from my doctor. I cannot believe this place continues to be in business. read more

Ok everyone, I just discovered this GEM. Nice peeps and it's one-stop shopping!! It has a Post office and Diabetic Shoe shop. AND THEY DELIVER!!!! And pricing is the same as the big chain drugstores I loved my local Walgreen's at 6th and Sprague but they got a new Pharmacist that is too "in my face" about rx that my doctor writes.. Great service and a small town feel--in the heart of the Stadium District. They're great about special ordering things I need. Post office services are very convenient. One time they had a problem processing a discount for a prescription. Their solution was to let me take the prescription home with me and come back and pay tomorrow when they had it straightened out. You won't get that kind of service at a big store. read more

I'm going to rate Ranko's based on my many visits relating to postal service. Firstly, Ranko's is a quaint neighborhood corner store. From a glance you might think it's a thrifty gift shop, but it is actually a pharmacy/gift shop/convenience store that features a postal outlet. There is on street parking, which is limited, and a full parking lot behind the store front. (Take note, the back door requires the ability to walk. Not handicap accessible.) If you don't like waiting in line to send your mail or packages, come here. There is seldom ever a line. I don't think I've ever seen a line, in fact! Good service, too. One note: bring cash. It's cash only, no Monopoly money accepted. ;D there is an ATM at the bank across the street. However, there is a fee. Just an FYI :) read more

Great little neighborhood store that has been around for over 85 years. Cool unique gifts inside, including socks, shaving, hats, candies, a post-office, and of course a pharmacy. Everyone was extremely friendly and the pharmacist spent sometime with my wife helping her find allergy medicine. Parking on the street in this area can sometimes be a pain, but thankfully they have a small parking lot behind the building. Overall a very cool place worth a visit if you are in the area. read more

Through this stressful time, they continue to help people get vaccinated and maintain kindness every time I call or go into the pharmacy. I strongly recommend this place. I always have an excellent experience here. Everyone here is always so friendly and helpful. Besides getting a perscription filled they have a very cool gift shop. You can literally find a gift for anyone. They also have a post office inside. I have family in other states so it is awesome that I can buy and send all in one stop. It is conveniently located and there is a parking lot on the backside of there is no street parking available. Even shopping for others I always see something I want for myself. Maybe I caught the pharmacist on a bad day but he was incredibly rude after asking a completely valid question regarding allergy medicine restrictions. He saw me looking through the on-shelf options for nearly 10 minutes, never asking if I needed help then when I asked him for his professional expertise he glanced at me then rattled off an answer like I should have known. I love Rankos!!! If I imagined what I thought a perfect pharmacy was, it wouldn't come close to what I know Rankos is. I fill my prescriptions at Rankos. I'm a single parent and I work all day...basically every day...very hard. I'm tired at the end of a long day. But, I have made the personal commitment to get my prescriptions filled at Rankos instead of the chain store (lets just not mention the W word) thats two blocks from my house. The pharmacy staff has literally saved my life and always goes the extra mile for my and my kids needs. The pharmacy staff knows me by name, my history, and always knows what I need and how to make it happen. They are sooo kind and nice...I just love them! Let me tell you...you just don't know what your missing if you don't get your prescriptions filled at Rankos...there are just not pharmacies out there like it. Btw, the gift selection is perfection...can't leave the store without purchasing something I need...beautiful, thoughtful cards, and unique gifts! And, they have organic products and the staff really know their stuff. Oh...and a post office where I can buy my money orders. I just can't say enough good about this pharmacy! I'm so happy I tried them out after so much suffering at all the other pharmacies around. Oh, and one of the drugs I take isn't covered by insurance and I pay cash. This is one of the few little pharmacies left and seems like it's been around for a long time. They have a lot of other stuff besides the pharmacy portion (which I haven't ever tried) such as fancy candy, cards, toys, gifts etc. They also have a post office, fax machine and copy machine. They have always been super friendly and helpful and you get the feel of old times when you step in the door. When I lived in the Stadium neighborhood without a car, I went there many times rather than having to travel all over town just to make a photo copy or mail a letter. I love Ranko's! Not only is it conveniently close by to where I live, but the people are very friendly, the prices are great, and they have their own post office! The only "danger" to going there is that there are so many things to look over. More than once I've both bought and shipped presents from Ranko's...how convenient is that?! I only gave one star because I couldn't give zero. I just walked out of there because of the worst service - they were rude & inconsiderate. I have been ignored in there before, and even put up with a little rudeness, but this is my last time (and I'm a local business owner who supports other small businesses in the area). First, the unprofessional women yelled back & forth to each other from the front counter to the pharmacy in the back, about their phones. Second, I was ignored at the post office window, while the woman sat at her computer. Finally I said "excuse me", but when she came to the window, I got the blank stare, rather than a polite address (maybe like "how can I help you?"). When she rang me up, I was told "Only check or cash at substations" (I'm NOT abbreviating here). Still, no smile or helpful comment. I asked if they had an ATM. "Across the street. But I'm closing in 4 minutes." I know people want to close at closing time, but how about a little courtesy "sorry" or "hurry & I'll give you an extra minute"? As I walked by the front counter (to run across the street), I asked if I could get cash back from a purchase. "No". Again, with the grunt response?? They've got to be more polite than that to deserve my business, time, & patience - small local business or not. I suggest customer service training to the employees. It's cheap & invaluable. read more
