I would leave zero stars if I could! Absolutely shameful business even after I have given them SO many chances. Such a great business model and idea but the service and management is terrible. Drinks take forever even in an empty bar, the bartender is literally taking shots with customers while failing to serve us, and charged us for a bunch of things we didn't even order. Once we asked her to alter our bill to match what we actually ordered she gave us an attitude and took FOREVER to change the tab. Love the theme of this place! An old school arcade themed bar/restaurant with machines and pinball? Yes, please! Tons of arcade and pinball machines to choose from with a good selection of drinks to choose from as well! They also have board games to play at your table while your wait for your food. However, that's the downfall of the joint. The food is rather mediocre and pricey for what you get. I ordered the coconut shrimp thinking for $14 I would get a good amount but when the dish came out with 5 little shrimps on it I was in awe and not in a good way. I also got a burger with ham on it but that was rather bland. I had to send it back because the ham was missing. The desert however is amazing! The service is terrible. Rude host, when I asked for a table, she said no and went to get the manager. The manager said they have a policy about party sizes written on the door.... There was no policy on the door..... and told me too bad. We ended up getting a table and the food was awful. My chicken was still undercooked and no body bothered to ask if I would like it cooked more, so now I'm having to go somewhere else to eat. What a gem! I went on a Sunday with my boyfriend & everything was superb from beginning to end. We came for a later dinner - it's very hard to find a restaurant with a kitchen open late. Especially one without the same old fried food or pizza. They were very attentive and gave us a comforting feeling like we have been there for years. The arcade: An amazing selection with so many pinball machines, old school originals, skee ball, pool table, and more! Super clean with ample amount of sanitization stations. The food & drinks: I had a princess peach martini and it was one of the best martinis I've ever had in Scranton! It wasn't overly sweet either. PLEASE BEWARE THIS PLACE Bartari Was a nightmare!!! From beginning to end. The waiter lacked customer service skills. Never came to check on our table just to simply ask how was everything. After ordering our food, which were simple items to make such as chicken wings, Fried chicken and waffles and Ramen Noodle Soup. LIKE SERIOUSLY a Damn noodle soup???? That took the cook approximately an Hour and a half. Mind you, the place was quite as a ghost. I forgot to mention that i ordered for myself steak tacos, that came out FREEZING COLD!!!!! Food was good but everything was super expensive. It was pretty dead on a Friday after work probably because the beers we had were $6 each and they don't have a happy hour. The other people in the bar walked around and I could hear them just talking about what the old place looked like and left after that. A group of 5 of us went to Bartari ready to eat and drink. That is, until we saw the menu. $14 for an Italian hoagie or a burger that doesnt come with fries?! In the land of Rosannas for $3? $12 for cheese on french bread in a town where on any corner you can get an entire pizza for this amount? Not one of us could justify the price of the food. The drinks were more appropriately priced and the games were definitely fun - we would return for those but there's no way we will be eating there. I'm writing this because I LOVE the idea of this place and want it to succeed. But there needs to be a food menu that people who want to drink and play games will think is worth it, or you're missing out on a lot of potential eaters. Our first visit and the staff is super friendly. The drinks were great and the Mac & Cheese was on point. Not your typical Mac & cheese. Was here Over the weekend, my second time here. Menu is still crazy odd and overly priced. While they offer certain things I would eat, I know the majority of people I know wouldn't even attempt to try most items, let alone spend so much on it. I can talk about the wings for $11 where you get a whole...wait for it....six wings, but looks like most reviews have that covered. The fries are good but for $7, get an extra value meal at Burger King Beer prices were ok. So no complaints there. Same goes for the service. Zero complaints. My reason for two stars. Now onto the games. A lot of the games took my quarters, and while I didn't bother to ask for them back, my wife asked a waitress, who was very nice by the way, if there was anything they can do since the change machine took a few dollar bills from her without dispensing the quarters. She said she just had to get her manager, who came out and questioned her on what happened. Found that pretty rude, since he came off arrogant as if we were trying to scam two dollars from the place. Also found it embarrassing since it was in front of other customers who heard it all. We left immediately after that and that will be it for us. Two times too many. If you have kids and want to get out for a few hours with them and have a few beers, then maybe this is for you. But if the games eat your quarters, or the change machine eats your dollars, DO NOT, in no way, shape or form get the manager to compensate you for the issue. You will be scolded, and you will be embarrassed. Just take it as a loss bc he obviously cares deeply about the change disperser. Nope. Not a chance this place is here a year from now. We were so excited for our food. My friend and I got nachos, crab fries, and tacos. We both are huge foodies and couldn't wait to dig in. To start, the nachos were amazing. Then we received the others, and words can't describe how disappointed we were. We both shared everything, and the tacos were terrible. The taste was completely burnt. The shell, meat, everything. We shared with our server that the tacos were too bad to eat, his response being, "they're cooked on the grill." What does cooking tacos on the grill have to do with burning them. Our crab fries were also dissatisfying, floppy, soggy, grease soaked fries. The cheese on top was equally terrifying. It looked like cereal. No old bay. If you like crab, don't waste your money. Coming from a server, when a customer isn't even able to choke down the food, you take it off the bill. He just stared at us with a blank face when we notified him, and we were saying it in the nicest way possible. We paid in full and tipped, but also working in the food industry, wouldn't recommend this food to anyone. Forgot to mention, our server was too busy flirting at the bar to refill our drinks or check on us until the end, so we didn't get one until we got our check. read more

I can't comment on the food, since I didn't try it. The service was good, the staff was pleasant. The bartenders managed prompt service even though the bar was getting pretty busy. As for the games, the selection is pretty decent, but they aren't maintained the way they need to be. Some machines were marked 'Out of Order', while other machines either ate quarters and didn't register the credits, or they had buttons that didn't work. I feel like having properly maintained machines is critical to making a barcade successful. You can get beer and food anywhere. The idea is there, but like many of these other reviews state, the place isn't anywhere near to where it should be. The menu is one of the worst ones I've seen. It was to the point of where my party of 4 didn't even end up ordering anything other than drinks. Even the prices for drinks were completely outrageous. Not sure how/why other people think they're "decently priced". The wait staff was nothing special. Our waitress seemed pretty peeved that our table only wanted drinks. There were at least 6 waitresses on for a place that was pretty empty the entire duration we were there. They didn't seem to do much except for mingle with eachother at the bar. The arcade games are pointless, either they're out of order or there's really no entertainment in playing them. The place is big, but it's occupied with about 90% seating. If they want to improve, remove some of the tables and make more room for games that actually provide at least some sort of entertainment. Anyway, we won't be back. It wasn't worth our time or money -- I feel sorry for a place like this that has a great idea behind it, but probably won't make it much longer. read more

The place has soooo much potential it's a shame. It is extremely disorganized, starting with the menu. The menu itself felt like a large book club mess. The bartender seemed to be having a terrible day and I feel as if he was letting it out on the customers. He rudely walked away as I was trying to ensure that my table was ready to order, without a word he just walked away. A few orders came out wrong, and the wait was long. We had a big table I understand the wait, but for the food to come out as it did for as long as we waited it simply was NOT worth the wait. The concept is great. The bar itself is nice. The staff is nice. But charging for the games is a mistake. I've been to many barcades in different cities, from Columbus to Philly, and Harrisburg to Providence. They have good beer and food, just like Bartari. But they don't charge for the games. If Bartari is looking to profit off the games instead of their food and drinks, I fear they won't be around long. Make your establishment the place to be! Draw people in for the games and atmosphere and they'll drink your drinks and eat your food. read more

Bartender couldn't properly explain beer list, or food to well. She kept having to ask other servers/manager questions. Also, food is mediocre and tap list is decent, but well overpriced for the Scranton area. More like big city prices. I'd suggest dwindling the menu down to make it more about quality over quantity. Jack of all trades, master of none type of food menu. Also, no ATM in the restaurant either, which is odd seeing how you have to pay with wuarters to play the games. Many games were broken as well...which is unfortunate being their opening week. Terrible experience. Went here for my friend's birthday, and there were MAYBE 4 people working in the entire building. Waited an hour to place an order, had to give the waitress our order 2 more times, she brought maybe 1/4 of what we ordered before we decided to give up and ask for our check to leave (after 3 hours). We were handed a $350 dollar check with nothing of what we ordered. Our waitress had no clue what was going on, what we ordered, nor what we were actually served. No one was faultless either. Management clearly had no clue how many people they needed working in order to provide even mediocre service. My friends are a patient and understanding group. We would never make a fuss over bad service or an over-worked staff. But when we struggle to place an order, don't get most of what we order, are charged for hundreds of dollars of things we didn't order, and then are told we can't even talk to a manager to sort out our tab so we can pay for what we actually ordered, I don't think it's so unreasonable to become frustrated. Based on our experience, I wouldn't recommend Bartari to anyone, and would honestly probably discourage someone from coming here. read more

Stopped here after work with a coworker to have a few beers, some food, and check the place out. Place is very spacious and inviting, and staff seemed friendly enough. Beer was appropriately priced at $5 a glass, but the food was massively overpriced. I ordered a plate of wings for $11, and was shocked when there were only 6 wings, which tasted just OK. Not sure why, but I then ordered some fries on top of that expecting something better. I've had better fries at McDonald's, and for way less than $7! As far as the games go, some machines were out of service, which being a new establishment, I will give them some leeway on. However, as other reviewers have touched on, if this place wants to stay in business, they will make the gaming free (especially if they keep their menu prices astronomically high). Lastly, they need to get cup holders for near the games! Most of the games don't have any, and you need to store your beer on a nearby table 5-10 feet (or more) away in order to play.
