We came to Bartaco for lunch. They don't take reservations, so we waited about 30 minutes at the bar, which turned out to be the best decision we made because we had such lively conversation with our neighbor (an investment banker) and our bartender, Duncan. Both made our day! I will say: Duncan makes the best Berry Coladas!! That drink is SO GOOD! it tastes like a coconut berry smoothie (we got the alcoholic version with rum, but there's a nonalcoholic version as well). Once our table was ready, we were moved to a booth. The overall decor is coastal and cute, with basket-lighting, wooden booths, and multiple ways to order! You can order via your server, QR code, or a paper ballot. We started off with the large sized chips & guac. I was skeptical at first because the guacamole doesn't have tomato, but it was VERY good! We devoured it! For tacos: we got: The baja fish taco: one of my favorites--the fish is perfectly crispy The crispy duck taco: good! Not super crispy, but definitely tasty The cauliflower taco: a surprise hit! I found the flavors very refreshing and well seasoned! The tuna taco on a bed of lettuce: this one can get messy. I ordered with my stomach instead of reading the fine print that it doesn't come in a traditional taco tortilla. The overall taco is good and the tuna has excellent flavor. The taco does come loaded with a sauce that tends to spill--so eat over the tray! My sister got the carne asada taco, and she felt that it could have been better. She felt the carne asada itself was bland and relied on the sauce for flavor. I'm usually skeptical of chain restaurants like Bartaco, but I've been pleasantly surprised: their food is reliably good! (Of note, the Bartaco in Hyde Park Village in Tampa DOES take reservations, unlike this one). I wish this Bartaco also took reservations. On busy days, you can easily expect a 30-45 minute+ wait to be seated here. That being said, the guacamole, the drinks, and the tacos are overall very good! I found that ordering 5 tacos was more than enough to fill me. My sister and I split our bill of berry coladas, large chips & guac, and tacos (5 per person) and it came out to $33.53 per person (with tax and tip).

I had a great experience here with my family! I wasn't expecting the place to be so big, which was a nice surprise. Our waitress was super friendly and really made our time there enjoyable. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu because everything we tried was delicious. The corn appetizer was so tasty, and we also loved the poke bowl and the tacos. Not much else to say other than it's worth it, affordable, and a solid go-to spot. I'm looking forward to trying the other locations too!

Doing a little shopping and got hungry, saw the line outside and figured this was the place to be! I walked in and sat at the bar. I was immediately serviced and the bartender explained the ordering process to me. Inside was very spacious and had a very beachy feel. Super cute for a date or girls meet up. I had four tacos: roasted duck, chicken verde, pork belly, and Baja fish. They were all delicious!!!! Like so so so goood! My favorites were the duck and pork belly. The prices were very reasonable as well. I will definitely be back and have already started telling my friends about my great experience

Went to bartaco for a private event and it was absolutely incredible. Food and service was top notch. Would def recommend having an event held by them.

Bar taco is a cute date night spot. The drinks were great and so we're the tacos. There wasn't a lot of seating on a Tuesday night but there was a lot of bar seating. It's a busy place and the bartenders are very understanding of the menu. Be patient and enjoy the ambiance!

Love the menu options and the flavor combos here. Dine in or to go has great options and travels well. The service is consistent and the order progressively is a nice feature. Combine the whole table or split the tab. Love the fun vibes Bartaco has to offer. The Rice bowl is always a favorite and the pineapple with the little Tajin kick is a tasty treat. The simple chicken and rice taco is even a solid option here. Glad to try the tasty tamale too!

Wow! This place is amazing!! Came here with two very close friends to fill our tummy's before a night out to town! Wonderful service, I really appreciate the card raiding system to call attention to the server instead of trying to wave them down. As soon as we placed our card on the holder, our server would come to our table. Great ambiance! I love the boho/Tulum vibes in here with the warm lighting. On a nice day I've seen that they open the front doors barn style to get a nice breeze in, also a great vibe. I will have to come back then. Not only was service and ambiance an 11/10 THE FOOD IS SO GOOD AND CHEAP. Seriously love this place so much (mind you this was my first time actually dining here lol) tacos are about $4 each and my friends and I got different a mix of everything to try out. Amongst the appetizers: the kale Caesar salad was small but so very tasty, cucumber salad was very fresh and yummy, and the tuna poke was super flavorful and also had a fresh taste(btw whatever the dressing they use for it is amazing, we ended up using the rest of the juice as an additional salsa for our tacos LOL). The guacamole was good but not too memorable, a classic snack and not spicy. LOVE IT HERE. Will be back :D

Food was good. Atmosphere was fun. But there was confusion on when they bring out the tacos. They put several in a tray instead of each person as in getting their own tray you share but they never said that so my food was given to someone else. Food didn't even all come out at the same time and they forgot my street corn (which was very flavorful). Strange experience.

Popped in for a quick lunch & really enjoyed ourselves. Our cocktails took a hot minute, but we could see they were being crafted with care & it was worth the wait. It was very busy, so we ended up sitting at some family style tables served by the bar. Some confusion about how & where to order, but we figured it out.

Haven't been to a BarTaco until now. I love how the service is set up with the little "cards" to show you are ready and the survey-style ordering options. Tacos are small and perfect for a quick bite or bigger snack. The guacamole was so fresh! Super nice place!

Worth the wait. Sat at two tables downstairs to accommodate our party of 11. Paper/QR menus that can be done with a waiter or all online. Can order as a group to share or individually. Only issue is food comes out as ready so some duos had food versus others nothing. No fault of theirs it is the way we ordered. Tacos, Non tacos, rice bowls, street corn to name a few. We had quac and chips, steak, chicken and pork tacos, all delicious. My favorite was the chicken tortilla soup. Amazing. Enjoy!

This place is very laid back, downtown Charleston summer buzzing, eclectic and gluten friendly hidden gem kinda place with the most delicious tacos and drinks that I've "never" had! The wait staff was very knowledgeable about what they offered for our memorable bites and recommending their signature Spicy Margarita - OMG, Yes! Highly recommend and will be going again!

Last night I placed a large order: burrito de birria, two tamales, pozole, large bag of chips , guacamole, drinks . After driving 30 minutes back to my hotel, I opened the bag to find the tamales were completely missing. Then I tried the pozole, and it was so salty it was absolutely inedible. On top of that, they didn't include a single condiment--just a bland, overly salty soup. I tried calling for 30 minutes straight--no answer. Left a voicemail--no call back. Not that night, not the next morning. Completely ignored. The next day, I went in person to give them a chance to make it right. I had my order number and explained everything clearly. Instead of even attempting to help, they refused to do anything without a physical receipt. No effort to look up the order, no accountability, no customer care. Just excuses. Expecting someone to drive 30 minutes back with uneaten food just to prove a mistake is ridiculous. I ended up having to go to Wendy's just to eat dinner after spending money here--that alone says everything. Mistakes happen, but the way a business handles them is what matters. This place clearly doesn't care once they have your money. This wasn't my first issue here, but it will definitely be my last.

To start we ordered the trio: guac, queso, and salsa + chips and the quesadilla. The Trio was good, about what you'd expect for chips and salsa at most places. The quesadilla was quite good as well. I ordered the Lobster roll (forgot complete name) and the Tsunami roll. Both of my rolls were incredible. They were very nice, 10/10 rolls. The fish was fresh, and the flavors were on point. All of my friends also enjoyed the rolls they ordered. I also ordered the fish collar tacos, which is easily the best bang for your buck on the menu. The plate only costs $14 and it comes with 2 fat fish collars, not sure what species, forgot to ask, if I had to guess I would say grouper or cobia. These collars are beautiful fried and loaded with meat. Additionally the plate comes with some lettuce, cilantro, lime, pineapple pico, sauce, and 3 flour tortillas. If you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty to separate the meat from bone, you will get three very very filled fish tacos and have meat to spare. Needless to say, the fish collar tacos were delicious and very well priced. All in all, I had a good time; the service was phenomenal, drinks were constantly being refilled, and there's really nothing to complain about. Great experience!
