With a past history of a brain tumor, i thought it best to not let this recent issue go ignored. I was recommended to Dr. Futrell by a friend who is a nurse at Northside Hospital. My experience, during my appointment with Dr. Futrell, could not have been better. He was attentive, asked numerous questions and did his "prep" work by reviewing my MRIs of my head and back -- ordered by other doctors and accessible on the Northside system. At no time did I feel he "hand one hand on the doorknob" and eager to get to his next appointment. Should the need arise, I will continue to see Dr. Futrell. I highly recommend him, as a Neurologist, without any reservations.

Neither Dr. Cooper nor his nurse made mention of the fact that there was a sensitive result that I think should have been revealed to -- and discussed -- with me alone before I invited anyone else to the consultation to hear the report. When the doctor's nurse asked if I had someone in the waiting room that I wanted to be included in the consultation with Dr. Cooper, I asked for my 86-year-old close male friend and partner to be present. We were both shocked and embarrassed to hear what Dr. Cooper reported and think his behavior was callous and insensitive. I will never darken the door of his office again!

I came with three areas of…read moreconcern, and having had good experiences with neurologists in the past, the last one 5 years ago was terrible, so I did not honestly know what to expect. Overall I'm used to doctors dismissing or minimizing my concerns or at best limiting the scope of discussion. Dr, Drexinger revitalized my hope in seeing doctors who truly understand. He spent a long time with me and I found him to be personable, has a great sense of humor, and compassionate. He should be: he suffers from at least one of the conditions he treats. When my understanding was incorrect, he simply shared what research has supported, but not from a superior point of view, but as if in casual conversation. He sent me off with labs and will recommend treatment from there, but said to come back when I wanted to. I'm not very hopeful about my most troublesome complaint, which he shares, but it is what it is. As for the other two, I'm very pleased with what he recommended.
