The BART all in all is a really easy way to get around the Bay area and I appreciate that it's there. If you've done the NYC subway or the DC metro you'll find yourself at ease using the BART system. This station I found to be very average for a public transit stop. To be fair, I don't take public transit often ever since I moved away from Seattle, it's become something I typically use exclusively when I'm visiting a bigger metro area and the last time I used public transit was probably two years ago when I was visiting Frankfurt Germany. This station I found to be fairly easy to navigate, but also fairly dirty and as a woman travelling alone I felt like I needed to be aware of my surroundings. Overall it was fine - not great, but not bad either.

the BART station here in Oakland is a less favorable one, since it can get sketchy late at night, so id recommend not coming late hours a shuttle comes and goes from the airport to this BART, but if you ever lost, go to the Cashier who can help you, or download the Clipper app to see schedules and times

Having utilize this BART station from majority of my life attending Oakland A's games, the station will always have a special place in my heart. With that out-of-the-way, I only recommend using this station if you're attending an event at the Coliseum complex or if you live in the area nearby. More likely than not if you park your car here it will get broken into. Even more you'll probably deal with beggars, mentally ill individuals or people who are looking to commit crimes. I've got too many encounters here that while they weren't close calls, insured why I always remain vigilant in my surroundings. My latest visit at the station was very pleasant, but became sketchy while waiting for my train on the platform. Answering this honestly, I can only rate this station a 3/5. Even though I've never had a bad encounter, this isn't the best and safest place to be when you're looking to use public transportation.

Neighboring AB&I Foundry is the most toxic polluter in the area. Go ahead... check yourself. If you are waiting on the platform for any significant amount of time for 5 times a week - or live nearby you might want to get some cancer screening. Average common people are so concerned with the way things look. Maybe a bunch of trash thrown around or some unsightly blight blocking streets and sidewalks. Truth is ugly stuff probably isn't going to kill you - but the amount of pollution emitted from the nearby foundry just might. The foundry is painted with patriotic murals that boast all the years they were and are part of the community. The surrounding area should stand up for themselves and put an end to the madness. It wouldn't happen in more affluent areas for this long. What is worth fighting for. What is worth protesting and putting effort in to stop? I'm telling you if you would scuff some guys shoe that might get more of a reaction than what this factory has been doing for years. Even if they are $1000 or $2000 shoes - putting ego aside and using logic should make nearby residents re-evaluate their priorities. Don't be an average common people. Think for yourself. Question what society has taught you to be important. Every time you utilize this Bart station take a look down at the factory that is likely the cause of your child's asthma. Everybody only has so much energy every day. I do my part as a citizen journalist to educate. Awareness is the first step.

I got to my first A's game through the Coliseum Bart station and it was an A-Ok experience. The station itself is what I thought it would be: Old and not the cleanest public building but definitely has historic character. I was just wondering how many millions of people have passed through here over the decades for A's, Warriors and Raider games. Walking the pedestrian bridge from the station to the coliseum for A's was an interesting adventure. Guys were rolling up coolers selling water bottles, beer and one guy even had bottles of vodka ready to mix a drink for you. There were multiple street vendors selling unlicensed A's t-shirts and baseball caps. They were actually decent quality and I couldn't pass up a black $5 A's hat on my way to the game. As your walking towards the stadium, it's definitely a social media moment for the gram as you get closer so keep the camera ready. Just like all crowded public gatherings, be aware of you surroundings while still enjoying yourself. Be safe!

I love B.A.R.T period, and that you get free parking on the weekend is an added bonus, especially during an A's game and as always, the staff is accommodating and helpful and the station area was clean nothing more to say.

Such a sh*t hole. If you call a ride share, there's not a designated pick up area. The station staff were less than helpful this day.

Rode through here coming from Oakland International Airport today, and although unsure what to expect in the years since I've lived in the Bay it was better than expected. Even from several months ago it seems the BART system has upgraded its Clipper card system to being easily accessible through the app for reloading and even using Apple Wallet (saving $ on buying a physical card). Midday Friday felt safe as a single female, everyone required to wear masks, and easy navigation and ride ($4.40 vs the $30+ if using Uber). Overall would recommend

New seats and bike racks. Nice!
Tommy T.

The bart has always been meh. It is such a relief it is cleaner than what I remember with some welcomed upgrades. The bike rack is great and the new seats are plush. I dont know how it will fair from abuse in the years to come but oh well... tax payers money is like monopoly money. The screen was pretty useless if your just sitting down. The reflection from the lights really made it hard to read. Getting a seat in any bart or muni is like hitting the lotto so it would be nice to get an anti reflective coating on the screens so it is easier to read from the seats. I can imagine a disabled person with hard of hearing not seeing what stop it is and missing their stops. Just sayin

Plenty of parking. The AirBart is right outside. There's always a lot of workers here b/c of the high foot traffic, esp during the games.

Ask the Community - BART - Coliseum Station

Female traveling solo to and from OAK airport via Bart Friday 8:30am and Tuesday 7:30pm. Want to avoid traffic on 680/24/880. Is this safe?

I've taken BART trains solo before at different times of the day/night. Never felt unsafe. Many people commute via BART daily and to/from OAK or SFO.

For a room advertised as accessible and at a price of over $600 for a 4 hour ride, this level of disrepair is inexcusable. Also, the ticket was advertised as including meals, but there was no breakfast or snacks, and lunch was barely edible (reheated, stale food). Staff were kind, but the facilities and upkeep were not. For the price, this fell far short. I would not recommend booking an accessible room based on this experience. Save your money and just buy a coach ticket or better yet, just drive.

They also have a bicycle parking locker and you can pay at the storage container. also, I did not think it was very easy to tell whether trains were running on time or not. I typically transferred from blue line to orange line at Bay Fair. One time this guy got on singing along with his boom box about a gun in his pocket and taking out people he doesn't like while slapping his pocket. The guy was nuts and the car immediately cleared out. Massive exit to the next car. Cops showed up at Lake Merrit station and pulled him off. I decided riding BART just wasn't worth the risk and adjusted my hours and started driving. PIn later years when I lived closer and didn't need to commute I would access Bart at Fruitvale since it was the closest station. Easy to get to via Uber or a number of bus lines. Again, back in the day you really had to pay attention to the crowd around. People getting mugged constantly and/or just harassed. Present day. I have recently started using Bart from Fruitvale again to get to Oakland, Berkeley and Lafayette when I'm meeting up with my partner and don't want to have 2 cars out and both of us driving home in two separate cars or when I drop off cars at our mechanics for service that takes a couple of days. I have to say I am pleasantly surprised, and that is not an easy feat with me after so many bad experiences. In recent trips i have not seen any rando characters. No one has asked me for money. No one hanging out with a sign asking for money while pimping out their kid. People were well dressed and polite. I know call me f'ing crazy. This is Fruitvale BART. The place was actually clean. Not sure if the new fair jumping gates helped or just BART realized the issues and worked to clean it up. Back in the day I would have given it a minus 5 stars but today it's going to 3 in the positive. As I use it more I may up the rating.
