His shop does great work, he is extremely friendly and best of all he is as honest as the day is long. I met Sam after another auto repair shop (Belden's Auto on Prue) told my girlfriend that she had a blown head gasket on her Explorer. They claimed to have done multiple leak down tests with it failing each time when she developed a code after she let it overheat. The car had been missing so I figured it was the worst case scenario and believed them. I talked to quite a few places about repair/engine replacement since the first shop immediately tried selling me an overpriced engine. I tracked down and purchased an engine online. After calling around Sam offered me the best price to put it in and allowed me to drop ship it to his shop. In hindsight...I should have just taken the car to Sam and had him look at it. Needless to say the engine showed and I dropped off the Explorer. Sam called that afternoon and said "the engine in her car is fine...you just have a bad plug wire...I'm more than happy to put this new engine in for you but it would be a waste of money." We both laughed and I sent the engine back. He saved me thousands of dollars and could have easily taken me to the cleaners. Needless to say I won't be going back to the first shop ever again. Since then Sam and his team have taken care of my vehicles. I'm writing this because I took my truck in today for the 100k mile service and an oil change on it, and I remembered I'd never written one. He is my "go to" mechanic and I highly recommend him if you want someone you can trust that will do work at a reasonable price.

Once to replace the Cam…read moreAngle Sensors (terrible design for those clips) and again to replace my Heater Core (I dont have the space or patience to take the entire dash apart. Both times Ewing was fast, friendly and reasonably priced. They were upfront about the fact that they cant warranty the work done with the Sensors because they didnt procure the parts, which is fine, I bought high quality parts from a reputable source when I thought I could do it on my own. They also had an issue with the OEM heater core and had to get a second replacement, but they communicated the issue promptly and since there was no rush, it did not impact me at all. My one complaint is that upon reviewing the work, I noticed some extra screws laying around, one body panel plug was loose and a lower dash panel was reinstalled incorrectly. None of these are deal breakers, you cant call any job done unless you have extra screws left over and the body plug is such a small issue its only worth bringing up to set expectations for when you work on an 12 year old car. I will not bring any of my vehicles anywhere else when I come across a problem I cant fix on my own, I trust Ewing completely, they have earned my business for life.

I paid around $3,500 for the first repair of my AC on my 2015 Camaro for the ac (blend door and actuator that's what they said was wrong during diagnostic) it worked for about a week and stopped. I took it back and then it was another issue (actuator again and compressor) actuator was covered BUT I needed to pay an additional $500 for the compressor... then the problem would be solved and would be good to go... (now we are at $4,000 (the Chevy dealership quoted me at $500-$4,000 so no big deal) a month later, I hear a clicking sound coming from the under the glove box on the passenger side when you turn AC on so I take it back because once again... the ac is not working. This time the guy come out, looks at it in the parking lot, hears the sound it's making, bangs on the underneath of the glove box (the sound stops and the ac kinda works), he said "if it stops again bring it back.Your heater blower is going out." I was baffled... I asked "how much that would be" he said "part and labor, you're looking at around $250-300" mind you, the female receptionist was outside too when this happened... I said "ok" and left. This all happened last summer but I'm just now trading my car in. I have all the receipts and paperwork still.

He's friendly, very honest, and you'll be hard pressed to find better prices than his in San Antonio. I went in with a pretty bad fender bender (bent the frame and completely destroyed the bumper + other miscellaneous damage). Chris took a quick look at the car, called his supplier for the price of the parts he would need, and quoted me all within 15 minutes - with a VERY fair price that I would have previously thought was impossibly cheap. I asked him if he would honor the quote regardless of whatever other damage he would find and he said yes; and he did. The car was ready after 1 day and he left it in way better condition than I imagined he would (for the price that I paid). The bumper was perfect, the frame was re-aligned, he reattached the headlight, and who knows what else he fixed all for not a penny higher than the quoted price. VERY pleased. You better bet I'll be recommending him to my friends in town.
