I strongly urge anyone considering Duddies Automotive on Broad Street in Meriden, CT to stay far…read moreaway from this shop. Joe Duddie cost us our vehicle due to his negligence, and we were forced to take him to civil court, where a judge ordered him to return our payment. Despite this, Joe ignored the court's deadline, and even after I personally reached out and gave him an extra 24 hours to respond, he never replied. Joe Duddie is not the kind of person who takes accountability. He lies, leaves out critical information about the work he performs, and when things go wrong, he refuses to take responsibility. Just like others have shared in their reviews, our experience echoes a pattern of shady practices -- Joe performs faulty work that ends up ruining vehicles, and then refuses to inspect or correct his own mistakes. This is not an honest mechanic. Do not trust this man. Do not bring your vehicle here. There are plenty of reputable shops in the area that value integrity and customer service -- Duddies Automotive is not one of them. and still no payment has been received even after being ordered by the court.

After being barked at by the moronic "senior" mechanic that everything I did to work on the repair myself was wrong (I was following the steps in the repair manual I had), they then quoted me hundreds of dollars (or more) for the repair. They said it could be the wiring, we charge so much per hour with no guarantees, it might need a whole new dashboard! I walked out, ignored what they said and ended up finishing the repair myself for SEVEN DOLLARS in parts, took all of 5 minutes! On top of that what I had done was all 100% correct. Save your money.

The best way to deal with them is face to face, they are busy, so getting hold of them via phone, is a challenge at times. Just go there, you'll be happier. They have told me several times I don't have to do a major repair, where others would have gouged me. My first time with them was after I was forced to go to Pep Boys over the weekend, and they totally gouged me, as well as seriously screwed up a repair. Todd basically laughed, and showed me what they should have done, he even helped document it for me. I went back to Pep Boys and the dude's face turned bright red. They had to admit that they did it wrong. Thanks Todd. I will always be a loyal customer because of their integrity, and good service. Todd, you seriously ROCK.

I had my car towed on July 17th with an issue with my ignition. Here is it Oct 6th and I stopped by to see what was going on since they never pick up the phone or return calls. He gave me some bs excuse saying he tried to get it going twice and failed miserably and that if he can't get it fixed tomorrow he had someone he could refer me to. As I go to leave I take a look in my car that mind you was in the same spot as it was close to 3 months ago. All of the contents in my middle console and glove compartment were all over the front seats. Now I'm pissed, so I go back inside to ask for the key and told him the condition of my car. He has not a care in the world and tried to say maybe it happened before I got it towed. But wouldn't he know that it looked like that since he tried twice to fix my car?? All he had to do was say he wasn't interested in fixing my car. Clearly my car was no priority to him.
