I feel sad to post this review. I have loved being a patient here for the past couple years. Dr…read more Latham and the staff have been wonderful. Unfortunately, the positive experience ended. I went to Dr. Latham because I was experiencing significant pain on both sides of my mouth. They diagnosed an infection on one side requiring a root canal and that the other side was a non-issue. After a week on antibiotics and the root canal for the diagnosed side, the pain on other side of my mouth progressed so much that I could barely eat. I called in and left a voicemail message on a Thursday around 2PM. Not only did they decide to not return my call before the end of the business day, but the office is closed on Fridays and weekends. They do, however, offer an emergency phone number for existing patients. I avoid emergencies as much as possible and it took an extreme amount of pain to get to the point of saying I needed help on an emergency basis. I woke up Saturday morning in so much pain that I was crying, I couldn't swallow, I couldn't spit, I couldn't do anything but cry. At 6AM we decided to call the emergency line. We waited for two hours - while being in severe pain - for a call back. I finally couldn't wait anymore so we found a dentist who would answer our call. It ended up that there was an issue - there was a fracture and an infection that was so significant that it was impossible to have been new. The emergency service also cost over 100% markup - an extra $2500 out of pocket compared to the same services I just had on the other tooth. The office did finally return our call around 11AM -- after I was already in surgery. Returning an emergency call 5 hours later is inexcusable. Not only did this result in unnecessary physical pain, but it also cost me significant out of pocket expense that was avoidable. In the end we can no longer trust this office to properly care for our dental health. :-(

I called and set up an appointment that ultimately was a few months out. I was pregnant at the time and requested to not have X-rays done, but it was important for me to have a cleaning. The receptionist told me this wouldn't be a problem and would get my records from my old dentists office. Fast forward to the day of my appointment. Front desk women were amazing and helpful. Dr. Franck was not!! Her bedside manors were horrible!!!! I told her several time I did not want X-rays taken as I was a high risk pregnant woman who had been in the hospital recently. She kept telling me it wasn't a big deal and low risk. Going against everything I said. Then told me they didn't receive my medical records even though I had done a release for them. Told me she couldn't clean my teeth without records or X-rays. Before leaving she asked me why I wouldn't just wait until after my pregnancy. 101 of pregnancy is to maintain good teeth health! You think she would be educated in this. The front receptionist apologized to me as she thought she had received my records. Would never go here again and would never recommend this place to anyone!

I'm constantly feeling compelled to leave a review of Rocklin Smiles because of the high level of…read moreservice I receive every time. I've said in a previous review that it's the little things that matter to me in any service business and Rocklin Smiles seems to pride themselves on those little things. My recent visit was once again seamless and easy. This time I want to highlight the receptionist's awareness. I'm not sure of her name but she seems to take pride in knowing my name which I'm sure is common practice for her and all the patient's. I was greeted by name as soon as I walked in. Now, I know they're expecting their patients at certain times but being kindly greeted by name is not something I've experienced at other dentists. After waiting about 5 minutes while scrolling through my phone the receptionist updated me that I'd be seen soon. The awareness to keep me informed before I even had the chance to even realize I had been waiting longer than normal is the "little things" I mentioned earlier. I know most people can think of countless times waiting in a lobby after being checked in and left to wonder "how much longer am I gonna be waitin?" Something simple as recognizing you have someone waiting and simply updating them seems trivial but I know from experience it takes some caring to be aware of that. And that caring attitude is not too common these days. The dental assistant that I've been assigned my last two visits is also just as hospitable and aware. The kindness and clear communication during intervention is comforting. 20/10 highly recommend.

I can confidently say that Dr Sugimoto, Josie, Elizabeth, and all the other staff here have been wonderful - wish I got everyone's name to give them credit! I've never had a dentist who was so organized and detailed. Dr Sugimoto got me through the fillings and the crowns with zero pain. She gave me a referral for a root canal to a great endodontist and everything went smoothly (as smooth as it can be for a root canal). Josie had the wonderful job of cleaning my teeth after several years of not going to a dentist. She was incredibly thorough yet gentle with my teeth. I was thinking she was going to be scraping hard and what not, but no. She took her time and did an excellent job. Elizabeth and the other assistants are also wonderful, competent, and patient. My wife and I are very happy we found Rocklin Smiles.
