My hometown is near the original in Sylvania, OH so I was thrilled when I saw that Barry's was coming to Clawson (& Troy!). I have visited twice now and quite frankly have been disappointed both times. The bagels are amazing- don't get me wrong but the service needs to improve. There has been one other person in there at the same time as me and the young girls just seem flustered. I understand they just opened but a bagel and cream cheese? Is it that hard?? Also when I asked for my cream cheese on the side since I was eating it later, I got an extremely small container (probably a tablespoon of actual cream cheese). Barry's in Sylvania would never skimp you! And for $3- I would expect more.... This place has potential to be as successful as the Sylvania/Toledo locations but definitely need to take some tips from their staff.... I hope as time goes on they improve. read more

My wife was craving a bagel last week. I've been to several places in the area but noticed this place had good reviews and was extremely close to our house. This is by far my favorite bagel place EVER. Bagel sandwiches are my fav food, and I'm extremely picky. All ingredients are top notch, and the bagels themselves are so fresh and delicious I've actually eaten one without even toasting it (I would normally find that to be a disgrace to the bagel experience) and it was deliciously doughy. I've always preferred salt bagels for my bagel sandwiches but their everything bagel is an absolute game changer as it had the perfect amount of salt on it! I'm literally obsessed, I drive 30 min past 3 other bagel places to come here!!! I've never had a bad experience at Barry B, and I go quite frequently. Another chain in the burbs trying to emulate New York Bagels, Bruegger's, Bagel Factory, etc, etc. only difference is Size does matter . I kid you not, the bagels were on the smaller side essential not risen to the point of being ready for boiling. The spinach and feta were the size of the dog bagels and literally 1/3 size of an average bagel. Lastly, because they were not risen and rushed for cooling they were like literal rocks in your stomach post consumption. read more

SERVICE AND QUALITY: Stopped by around 12 on a Saturday morning, ordered 2 bagels and a drink for around $10 but the quality of ingredients and fresh to order service made it worth the $$. Quick and efficient service. Comparing it to a chain like Tim Horton's or DD I would go for this over those any day. FOOD: My husband I ordered the Farmers bagel. Although very fresh, I found the seasoning lacking significantly. It would have been great with a kick like jalapeño or hot sauce (which I could easily add) or some salt. The only flavor I got was the cheese, while the egg and veggies just blended together and were fairly bland. That being said, it's definitely worth the $$, I hope to return to try their lunch options like sandwiches and soups. read more

Finally found something close to an NYC bagel in the area! They're boiled so they're perfectly chewy and crispy!!! I was very impressed. Will definitely make this my new regular spot. However, their cream cheese selection is lacking. They only have veggie and scallion cream cheese flavors in a lite version. Idk about you but if I'm getting a bagel, I'm not trying to save calories with lite cream cheese! Wish they had more flavors in a regular version. read more

So I already left a review for the Troy location. But it's only fair that I leave one for Clawson as well since tonight was the first time that I was a customer at that one. First off the owner Robert and the young woman working the cash register are super nice. I loved hearing that any excess that they have at the end of the night goes to forgotten harvest. But to the food. Let me state that I think Chick-fil-A has the best chicken sandwich out there. With that being said Barry bagels is the best bagel place in metro Detroit. Tonight I got my usual sandwich and mac & cheese. I'm supposed to be doing intermittent fasting so hey why not throw a cookie in there which I know wasn't part of the plan but it's within my eight hours of eating. LOL The salted caramel cookie was calling my name. Oh how I wish I didn't try it. Now I'm going to want a cookie every time I go in there and that just can't be. It was delicious indeed. I will be trying their other desserts on occasion. My sandwich was as always made with the freshest ingredients. I am a HUGE Barrys Bagels fan. When I heard the news they were coming to Clawson I was absolutely thrilled. I've always made a point to go out of my way when in Toledo or Ann Arbor. I'm obsessed with their veggie sandwich. Layers of fresh, crisp veggies on a salt bagel with scallion cream cheese is perfection. This location is strictly carryout unlike the other two spots I frequent, but that is okay with me. Their bagels are fresh, chewy and flavorful. Welcome to the neighborhood. Great sandwiches & friendly people ! I love the turkey and wife likes the breakfast sandwiches. Lots of toppings available to customize to match your tastes. They have online ordering option and wait time for walk-ins isn't bad. I will say I'm not crazy about the coffee as little too light but it's serviceable. Overall consistently solid place. read more

Love this place! Watched them renovate the place from my gym across the street for the last few months. Stopped in this morning for family lunch - pumpernickel bagel, blueberry bagel and raisin bagel were all great. I had a corned beef sandwich on an onion bagel and it was life changing. Saw the other location in Troy was still under construction, so drove down to the Clawson location to check it out. Delicious bagels! I had the jalapeño bagel which packed a ton of flavor, and the Everything bagel was also quite tasty as well. I highly recommend them.
