I had surgery last year. Over the past few months I've started experiencing problems. The doctor gave me an order for PT, and I went to a place I knew. They evaluated me, ran me through a program of exercises and stretches and dry needling. At first I had some improvement, but then I stopped improving and still had basically the same problem I started with.
After a couple of months, I contacted the surgeon again. This time he ordered PT from this specific facility. They apparently book-out a bit, so there was some delay getting in.
My first visit we had a thorough evaluation. Much more thorough than I had before. Then, to my amazement, she went straight to a problem area that I didn't know was a problem. She worked a few spots, trying to loosen them up. Then I was given a few exercises, plus was advised to continue the stretching routines I was given from the previous PT (which I have been doing anyway). It was just surprising to me that she quickly identified an area that the other PT office had missed.
The second visit built upon the first. Again, she was doing things that the other PT place never did. Some massage, some different exercises. They sent me home with bands to use for the home exercises. This morning was the first time I wasn't awakened by pain in months. After only two visits.
I may be premature in concluding this, but I think one should go to specialist PT shops. If you have a spinal issue, go to spinal PT. If you have a hand issue, go to hand PT. Etc. My wife and I are both in PT, for different reasons. And we both are in offices that specialize in our specific problems. And we're both improving.
If you have a spinal problem, I can recommend this place (so far). My program is estimated for two months. If improvement continues at this rate, I'll be in great shape after 2 months. read more
