Just One thing is: he does not take debit or credit cards... just an FYI. So make sure you bring cash & bring a couple 20s with you before you enter. I think he also takes checks too. .. just a healthy warning unless if you bank at WinTrust. There is one bank a couple doors down that you can pull money from at the ATM beforehand.. you have to pay first before any work is done. We had to end up doing that. But no problem- we bank at WinTrust so we're okay... The owner said he can do it and give him a couple days to complete. Came back after about a week later and the soles of the shoes were done. It was a very good quality replacement, and his workmanship was pretty much straightforward. There was no blemishes or anything to our nature so: Overall, my wife was very happy with the the work involved. The quality of the replacement was better than the OEM on the shoe in my opinion. He was a little bit more expensive, but you get what you pay for. We'd go back for shoe repairs.. One star is just deducted because of the convenience of the cash issue in which we have no problem with. We do understand the theory behind it. It could've been that he was burned way too many times. So again we get it. However, from a customer standpoint inconvenience, it is a slight inconvenience for those who are not near a bank or don't carry cash around. But again: we get it and the service as well as the quality/workmanship is there, but the ability to work with credit or debit would put you at you at five stars. We would definitely come back again though, he did a really good job on the shoes. Thanks for the work!

We have been going to Philip's Shoe Clinic for decades, not just for shoe soles and heels, but also…read morefor luggage and even briefcase repairs. It had been six years since my last visit, but I recently returned this past Tuesday. While I was on an overseas vacation, I was in a rush and accidentally caught part of a Ziploc bag in my purse's zipper. The more I tried to fix it, the worse it became. Eventually, I managed to get the zipper almost all the way open, but it remained stuck and would not close for the rest of the trip. Thankfully, the purse had two major compartments with separate zippers, so I was still able to use it. When I got back, I brought the purse to Philip's Shoe Clinic, unsure if it could even be repaired. Oscar came out from the back of the shop to greet me. He was so considerate and did not want to handle my purse with his hands dirty from work, so he did not fully assess the damage at first. Still, he gave me a very reasonable estimate of $14 and said it would be ready in two days. To my delight, the purse was ready on time, and the zipper worked perfectly. Even better, Oscar only charged me $10 instead of $14. I truly appreciated his honesty. We chatted a bit, and I learned that Oscar has been the owner of the shop for the past nine years, although he has worked there since the 1990s. When the previous owner retired, she asked Oscar to take over, and he has been running it ever since. That explains why the high quality of work has never changed. This was not the first time Oscar showed such generosity. On two separate occasions, he did not charge me at all. Once was for punching extra holes in the strap of a crossbody bag so I could shorten it. Another time, about six years ago, a family member got some fabric caught in the zipper of a short jacket and had to take it off like a pullover. Oscar was able to fix it right away while I waited. Oscar is not only skilled but also kind and helpful. I feel so fortunate to have Philip's Shoe Clinic in our neighborhood. I highly recommend it.

She got busy and forgot she dropped them off for a few months. She then remembered and went back, with the receipt, to pick up her shoes. The store owner was a complete jerk and accused her of already picking up the shoe. She then insisted that she had not. The store gave her shoes away and said they had been there for too long. The store has her phone number and never did place a call to her as a reminder. They just gave away her shoes that are worth almost $400 bucks. A call to remind the customer is a reasonable expectation. They never made a call, gave away her shoes and now they lost a customer. I wonder if the store owner sold them and that is his side hustle.
