    Such an amazing local spot!
    Keely H.

If you're looking for a locally owned restaurant serving everything from authentic pupusas to legit MICHELADAS, this is your place. The most personable service, and a genuine feel of community (which is becoming harder and harder to find). Don't miss out on this gem on 14th-- you won't be disappointed !

I placed a simple appetizer order through their own app, which quoted about 30 minutes. When I…read morearrived, I was told to sit and wait. After an hour with no updates, I asked again--only to find out they hadn't even started making my order. At that point I asked for a refund, and the manager was rude and refused to process it, telling me to "go to the website" instead. I left without my food and without a refund. I've reported the incident to Montgomery County because this feels like deceptive business practice. If you're considering carry-out from here, think twice. The wait times, communication, and customer service were unacceptable.

Sadly I'll have to agree with most of the negative reviews here about service and prices! Visited…read moreon a Saturday night and stayed for drinks and dancing. We had a big group of 20-30 people and they set tables together that sat 20-22, then we had more tables nearby as more came. There was only 3 baskets of chips and salsa for the table of 20+ and by the time I got there, none was left and I was told they asked for water and more chips several times for the past 30 mins (there was maybe one or two other couples at the restaurant besides our party, so not busy). We never got more chips although we asked at least 3 times since I arrived. Drinks had no prices shown and they don't serve tap water, only bottled (still or sparkling). The large margaritas are gigantic (glass was as tall as the 16oz bottle of water) and we ordered pitchers of margaritas, but again no prices given, so we got a surprise when the bill came. As for the food, portions were big and everything smelled great. Flavors were average to good for Tex-Mex food, nothing special. Everything was plated nicely. I got the Lomo Saltado and asked for medium rare, but it was beyond well done, so very dry. The plates are huge and very heavy and the waitress dropped one behind my friend and her shirt and purse got all splattered on! Leather purses get stained with oils! They didn't offer her anything until she and a few of us kept asking (not even a discount on her food or a drink!). At the very end after we all paid and started dancing, they kept her waiting at the table to see what the manager will do while we were dancing. Ruined her night and she got a $25 GC in return - they could've voided her payment instead because she definitely does not want to return!

We were sat right away and I was surprised at how big the restaurant is (way bigger than it looks from the outside!). I started with a hibiscus margarita, which was delicious. Then we ordered a few things to split, including: guac and tostadas, charred cabbage, gorditas with chorizo, aguachile negro, and the beef short rib platter. The charred cabbage was the biggest sleeper hit. It was so flavorful and unlike anything I've ever had before. Everything else was delicious, although the aguachile was probably my least favorite of what we tried. We finished with the rose water tres leches and the dulce de leche crepes. The tres leches were pretty good but the crepes were amazing. I don't usually love dulce de leche, but it was definitely a standout.

If you are planning to visit during popular dining hours, it might be worth it to make a reservation. We arrived during a weekend around 5:30 pm, and the place was somewhat empty. However, by 6-6:15 pm, the place was PACKED. I was a very surprised (in a good way) that the menu was a bit smaller compared to other Mexican/Tex-Mex restaurants in the area. I necessarily do not think the smaller menu is a bad thing because, with a smaller menu, a restaurant can focus on preparing everything well (i.e., it's easier to do a good job with 20-item menu versus a 50+-item menu). For my dining pleasure, I went with the enchiladas suizas with a few margaritas. Overall, I thought my plate was very delicious; however, other diners at my table and I noticed that the portion sizes were a bit small for the price. Perhaps, the restaurant uses higher quality ingredients for its dishes. Although the margarita sizes might appear to be small, they definitely are not "small" in power/punch, so the $13-$18 price range is appropriate. My favorite margarita of the night definitely was the El Jardinero, which was a wonderful mix of carrot, cilantro, peach, lime and a semi-spicy pepper of sorts. Collectively, we all thought the service was exceptional because our waitress constantly visited the table. Personally, I thought it was a bit overkill, but that's a very, very minor complaint based on my very, very personal preference.

Having lived in Tijuana, I have had the best birria tacos, and while Taco Loco's birria tacos are not better than what you can get south of the border, they are pretty darn close. They have a full menu in addition to tacos, we also had carne asada sopes. Service is friendly, nothing amazing, but it was friendly and efficient, especially only one young man was working the floor. Ambiance is a bit divey, but I think that's what makes the food taste so good. And a little secret - we liked the tacos so much we went back two days later for more. If you like authentic Mexican food then Taco Loco is a must try.

Updated review…read more Unfortunately, I have to downgrade my previous review from five to three stars based on my most recent delivery experience. A few things that I had issues with. Although we ordered a dessert, the dessert did not arrive with our order. Upon realizing the missing dessert, I called the restaurant to inquire why the dessert was not included in the delivery. The person who answered the phone told me that the dessert was not included because they did not have the ingredients to make it. Ok, I understand that happens from time to time. However, I did not really understand why the restaurant could not have called me to inform me that they could not supply the dessert. When this has happened in past with other restaurants, they usually ask if you would like a refund or another similarly-priced item. Fortunately, it was not a problem to get a refund from Grubhub. The packaging was a mess. We ordered eight tacos, which were delicious, but they jammed them all into one container. By the time, the food arrived the tortillas were pretty stuck to each other. I thought the restaurant skimped on the portion size for the chips and salsa portions, which made the sideway overpriced for $9.
