In the last 20 years or so I have purchased many Toyota's. I bought a new Sienna from White River…read moreToyota, at least 4 new (3 Prius, 1 Sienna) from Berlin City (NH), a used Sienna from Heritage, a used Corolla from Berlin City (VT) and now two cars from Handy. A new Prius Prime and a used RAV4. Up to 2010 Berlin City in NH was by far the easiest to work with and the best deals. Some people like car shopping and the whole experience where they believe they are making the best deal. Not me. I know what I want, I don't need to test drive it, I have no time for your BS. In the past only Berlin City would give firm trade offer and finalize a deal completely by phone or email. Then deliver the new car, pick up the trade and be done and gone in under 40 minutes. We once spent 3 hours at Heritage when we had already selected the desired used car from their website and had cash, so no financing required. Anyhow, I digress. In 2017 I had located a Prius Prime and secured a trade offer from Berlin City. I paid a deposit and then they were unable to obtain my desired car. I contacted Handy and shared the offer from Berlin City. They said we will match it and I was like, game on. I already knew if I tried Heritage, they would tell me to come in for a test drive and they would need to see the trade before committing. So I bought from Handy, September 2017. Then in March 2018 we wanted to trade our 2011 Sienna for a used RAV4 (2015-2016, low mileage). I downloaded Carfax, car gurus, autotrader, cars, edmunds and began the search. First up, Berlin City. They had an acceptable vehicle and offered $9,000 for the Sienna. The earth went on. I knew the "value" of the Sienna to be closer to $11,000 if I sold it and $10,000 if traded. My friends at Handy had a few used cars I liked and I told them I was trying to sell the Sienna for $10. They promptly offered 10, sight unseen and I was like, game on. After we had a deal in place, the windshield cracked. A big crack. I was pissed and assumed they would attempt to screw me by dropping the trade offer. They did not. There was no deduction at all. Color me happy. I'll be back.

    1. The tailpipe on the truck I bought *fell off* after less than 2000 miles post-sale. I contacted…read morethe dealership and was told to call the service managers for help, which I did, but I never got a response from either of them. I had to get the repair done elsewhere (to the tune of 1k) after having barely driven the vehicle. 2. Don't believe Dennis when he tells you that the extended warranty will cover work done by shops outside the Handy Toyota domain. (I have yet to find a service provider that accepts it. Also don't believe them when they tell you that you can cancel it-- technically you can, but if you've financed the vehicle, the policy will continue to appear on your bill, thus driving up monthly payments and interest until the vehicle is paid off.

We purchased a used 2010 Buick from Progressive back in August of this year, hoping for a reliable…read morevehicle. Fast forward barely two months ago, and our purchase broke down completely. After having the car towed to an independent, reputable garage for analysis, we received the shocking news: the vehicle requires a brand-new engine. Progressive claims on their website: "We want every visitor -- online or at the dealership -- to feel welcome, supported, and confident in their vehicle purchase. That's why great customer service is at the heart of everything we do." Except "great customer service" apparently includes selling a vehicle that was clearly a lemon and needed a major, costly repair just weeks after purchase. Where is the support and confidence they promise when we're facing the cost of a new engine? The only thing we feel is regret. Do NOT purchase a used vehicle from Progressive. You will absolutely regret it and end up paying far more than you bargained for when your "new" car breaks down almost immediately. Buyer beware. This experience has been an absolute nightmare.

All but one said Progressive auto sales. So my BIL gave me a ride, and 2 hours later I was driving an amazing car for an incredible deal. This story doesn't end here. 2 days later, the car would barely turn over. I thought I left the lights on so I called for roadside assistance thru my insurance. The company that showed up used 2, yes 2, jump packs on it and it wouldn't start. So, buying a used car, sold as is, where is, I still called Progressive auto sales. They brought me a brand new battery!. After I put it in... NOTHING. So I called them AGAIN. They asked if I could get it towed to them by roadside assistance, and yes I could. The mechanic they have found that the starter was burned up. He replaced it. You have to take the intake off to get to it! The absolute stunning part was, they did it for FREE. NOT ONE RED CENT! If you need a car, THIS IS THE PLACE!!!!

After a week we finally received a call with a costly repair estimate. We decided to get a 2nd opinion and paid for another tow truck to go to Handy's to bring the truck for a 2nd opinion. The tow truck arrived to be sent away by the service department. After not hearing from the 2nd service shop we called and were told it never arrived. When we called Handy's we were told yes your truck is here , we told the tow company to leave because you owe $179.00. No one called or emailed us we owed any money. When asked why we were never called to be given the chance to pay before sending the tow truck away we were given 3 different answers. 1. Billy called but you didn't answer. We have no record of this call 2. We thought we saw the tow truck driver on the phone so we assumed it was with you. 3. Maybe we called the wrong number. Poor customer service and questionable business practices at best. I was told by the owner that sometimes they have employees in service that are good at repairs but not with customer service. Unacceptable answer. We immediately paid the $179 when we became aware of the bill and paid for a 2nd tow cost because Handy's refused to pay for the tow they turned away. We purchase new truck from Key in South Burlington and received excellent customer service.

PSA: RUN!! Don't walk, run away from Cobb Auto located at 448 Swanton Rd, St Albans City, VT 05478,…read morewhatever you do just stay away from this auto dealer. What he does should and probably illegal. We bought a car from Don Cobb 2/7/2023. We drove it less than 20 miles before it overheated and completely broke down. I called Don and he refused to do anything for me stating I bought the car as is. We brought the car to a mechanic who noted metal flakes in the coolant a sign that Don had put Barr's Head Gasket Seal in the car. I was mortified and called Don who refused to do anything. My husband and son lost their second jobs without a car to get too work. I continued to call Don begging him to make this right and just take the car back and refund me. He said no, so I left a review. Only then did he call me upset about my review telling me he is ordering parts. Our mechanic already ordered parts but I told Don to bring them to our mechanic. Appreciating he was trying to do at least something even though he was clearly angry I left a bad review and demanded I remove it. I was obviously not trusting they were the right parts or quality parts which turned out to be correct. Our mechanic could not use the water pump as it was not the right size. Bottom line it's now 3/21/23 and our car is finally drivable. It's not fully fixed as there are many other issues with it. Our first round of repairs is over $700 I feel like I should note most concerning conditions that Don Cobb and his employees attempted to hide on the vehicle. They applied the tape over the two front axles to hide their condition, they need to be replaced asap. They poured Barr's Head Gasket Seal to hide a leak, which clogged up all the hoses and caused the car to overheat. They applied paint covering numerous rust spots, at this point even with the $700 in repairs this car will not pass inspection. Don is a crooked auto sales man do not trust him, nor anyone who works for him. Trust me I am following this up with the DMV, Attorney General, and the town of Saint Albans.

The sales rep when called out for payment discrepancies (quoted 313/mo for 36 mos; ended up being $373/mo for 51 mos) kept lying about why. Refused to provide paper copies of agreements. Know of at least 1 other person in same situation. If you know anyone or you have had a similar situation please contact me. I am putting together a contact list for my lawyer.
