Wow! The burritos are massive! I recently found Barrel Burrito and had to try it! The restaurant is a good size with some tables with a tiki theme. I was greeted as soon as walking in and then had to choose from the list of options, which was tough to decide. It is mostly burritos on the menu, but there are multiple options for how to prepare it. It can be prepared rolled in a tortilla, sauced, or in a rice bowl. I decided on the breakfast burrito, my husband got the steak sauced, and we also got a side of rice, chips, and queso. Everything came in to-go boxes, which helped because the burritos were large! Everything was delicious, I really enjoyed the chips and queso. I cant wait to try some of the other burritos! We arrived about a half hour after opening and we were the only ones in there, shortly after some more people came in a couple of take orders. We sat at the bar area by the windows, but our view was mostly blocked by the sign. I don't know if that is here to stay or temporary, but it would be nice to look outside more. Also, I hope they have the opportunity for some sidewalk seating for the summer time. Can't wait to stop by again and try some other burritos, I'm thinking the birria or the korean chicken!

I walked past Barrel Burrito a few weeks ago, and I had a chance go back and try it over the weekend. I thought it was a franchise of a chain restaurant because the graphics, theme, and menu struck me as being from a well-established business, i.e. I was impressed with the artwork and design. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and offered a menu. There is a large menu board to your right when facing the register. There are three options for burrito preparation: Grilled Burrito, Wet Burrito (covered in a red sauce), or Burrito Bowl. I decided on the Grilled Birria Burrito and asked them to hold the Jalapeno Cream Sauce, so my photos do not represent their intended final product, just my prefered version, and I was a fan! They told me it would take about 10 minutes for my order, and I did receive it within 10 minutes. I was the only customer at the time, which was around 5:15 on a Saturday, so pretty early. My burrito came wrapped in tin foil and in a paper sleeve with a side of consomme. The consomme was not as rich as I've had in town but had good flavor. The burrito was served hot and the inside, especially, stayed hot, even after I took several photos! The tortilla was crisp and had grill marks, but also provided the soft flour tortilla texture that I like, too. The Birria Burrito is stuffed with cilantro lime rice, tender and nicely seasoned beef birria (combo of small chunks of beef and shredded beef), queso fresco, mozzarella cheese, onion, and jalapeno cream sauce (which I ordered mine without). I cut my burrito in half, and I found it easier to use a plastic spoon to pour the consomme over the burrito for each bite than to dip it into the smaller cup and have filling spill out. I asked about the surfing theme for the restaurant, but the friendly staff could not remember why the surfing theme was selected, only that "barrel" is a surfing term. When you see a photo of a surfer on a board with a huge wave overhead while surfing through what looks like a water tunnel, that tunnel is called a barrel. I will assume the owner is a surfer, wants to be a surfer, or just loves to watch surfing. You can order online or in the store, and they partner with food delivery services like Door Dash. What I'm trying to say is go eat a burrito from Barrel Burrito. I liked my food, service, friendly staff, and I think it's a good value!

Barrel Burrito Company opened in November 2023 and looks to be for the college crowd. The decor is giving tropical/beach vibes with one of the seating sections having some colorful umbrellas over the tables. I personally got a veggie burrito which was filling but flavor wise, it didn't hit as hard for me. If you're not vegetarian (or vegan) the menu looks like it offers some pretty meaty options worth giving a try (the bacon cheeseburger burrito or Korean chicken burrito).

Amazing food. Get the Korean bbq you won't be disappointed. Their cheese curds are some of the best I've ever had.

A burrito shouldn't be taking over 20 minutes when I'm the only one in the restaurant.

I loved the variety of the menu, especially the vegetarian options, which are hard to come by in a lot of Mexican restaurants. In the past few years since I've moved back to Milwaukee, I've eaten at this location several times. It's about 6 blocks from my house and I still find veggie Mexican options to be rarer than I'd like. Generally the food is good, if no longer great. I wonder if their expansion and success has spread them thin over the years. Sometimes the service is good, sometimes it's like an afterthought. I've also ordered delivery from them many times and it's been generally fine, but not often great. Tonight I ordered delivery, paid extra for expedited service, and I really just wanted some good cheese and onion enchiladas. The delivery time was quick. Despite that, my food was cold. My black beans - literally cold. The cheese enchiladas - um, the cheese on top wasn't even melted. The rice had no flavor at all, like it could have literally been plain white, tepid rice. So I don't know what is going on at Cafe Corazon, but it's just not good anymore and that makes me really sad.

We'd been coming to Central Waters for a while, when one night we found ourselves hungry. Since Troublemakers Cocina was open, we gave it a try. We've been hooked ever since! Our two favorite menu items are the Carne Asada Fries and the Carne Asada Burrito. Both are flavorful, fresh, and filling. Triple threat! Prices are reasonable and the staff are always friendly. Plus you can have a scrumptious beer from Central Waters while you wait for your beeper to go off. And the setting is in an old gorgeous church converted into a brewery/event space. You can't beat that ambiance! Prices are reasonable, the space is clean, and there is plenty of seating for groups of all sizes. And there are screens for watching games. This place is an all-around winner! Hungry and thirsty, make your way to Troublemakers Cocina today!

It's Saturday and I'm thinking......Don Lucho!!!!!…read more The team has been up since late night roasting and boiling and creating the most amazing carnitas you will find in Milwaukee. Get here early - parking sucks, and suburbanites will freak out at the hood, but no worries Jesus is right next door at St. Josaphats basilica and will watch over you. And don't forget to take a tour of one of this country's most beautiful cathedrals. Right there by Don Luchos. You can eat here. Lots of long communal tables so don't be shy. Prices aren't cheap but this is quality. I usually get a pound or so of carnitas. They measure it out, it's steaming, and ask if you want it chopped. I say yes. It's wrapped up tightly and it will feed you all weekend. This meat is freaking amazing!!!! I pray they haven't run out of homemade tortillas, but like I said, you gotta come EARLY. Sigh. There's about 6 different amazing salsas to try. Smoky, fresh, green, red, hot sweet - I get two for the weekend. I consider a quart of menudo. I think about. Lamb, goat, barbacoa, chorizo - but I have enough. Too hungry to wait to go home, I sit down to eat. Two tacos - huge! The best was the barbacoa - tasty little carmelized deeply flavored meat bits. Hey - don't go expecting American extras like sour cream or cheese. This is the real thing. Warming: one taco will do you. Got a side of rice and beans - yum. Don Lucho is a treasure. It is authentic, mom and pop, and these are the businesses I love to support.
