I love taking classes at barre3! For me it is about the workout, yes, but also about the community of people. I just love all of them that are involved. Before I get into the details I want to mention they do give at least one free class to try it out. I highly recommend it. You can test it out. Take a water bottle (and towel) with you. :) Classes are typically 45 minutes with some being 60. The instructors are well-trained and incredibly kind. I also like that even if you go at the same time every day there could be a different instructor which keeps you feeling like you are doing something new. They each have their own style and part in the class that they like. The workouts are fairly well rounded with lots of stretching, isometric holds and pulses and even a slight cardio burst. You can modify anything any time which I like because those legs get to screaming at me! Typically at the end of class there is a relaxed breathing that helps you start the day off right. There was a change in hands about a year ago and while the other owners did a great job, I can see some great and positive changes happening. I also wanted to mention sometimes they have themed classes. The most recent were Wicked and the Life of a Showgirl. They had prizes and treats and had some fun decorations up. read more

I have taken several classes from a variety of instructors over the last several months and enjoy the mix of stretching, cardio and weights. You get your heart rate up and your stress level down. It's been awhile since I wrote my last review. Decided to update my review since I started working out here regularly again last October. Still a 5 star review! Still a great workout. Lots of modifications available for every move to accommodate people with various injuries (hips, knees, shoulders, backs,etc.) and pregnancy. Next month, I'm dropping my personal trainer and just doing the unlimited membership. I get lots of personalized attention from the instructors and think this will be a good substitute. I love the family vibe. Everyone recognizes me and knows my name! This is pretty amazing since I'm pretty introverted and prefer to melt into the background. I feel so comfortable with the employees, instructors, and other barre 3 members. read more

I was a bit worried about exercising with a bunch of young people, but I thought I'd give it a shot and I'm glad I did. I've never been to anything like this. It was yoga on steroids! The exercises were all low impact, which I appreciated, but they still got my heart rate up, BIG TIME! I wasn't able to keep up with everything - not because it went fast - but because I am so out of shape. However, I did get plenty of exercise and I'm sure I am going to feel it tomorrow! The way Barre3 works is that you pay a monthly fee. During the month, you can go as many classes as you want. There are plenty of choices of class times each week and each day. The classes last one hour. I highly recommend Barre3 if you are looking for a low-impact workout that will help you lose weight, shape up, and feel much better. Barre3 = ballet bar + yoga + pilates. Such a cool/fun concept. I always leave feeling decently worked out/sweaty. Workout routines have always been different each time I come, which I really appreciate. I love the cork floors. They aren't as hard as other types of floor. You can really feel the difference. The last few times I've gone, I've noticed the ballet barre is starting to get sticky. Maybe the finish is coming off? I love barre3! I always get a phenomenal workout in a supportive and friendly environment. They also have childcare which is so convenient and my daughter really enjoys going. Each move has different "layers" that you can add as needed so you can customize your experience depending on your fitness level. I appreciate that with each move the instructors talk about the muscles you should be connecting with to get the most out of that movement. At the end of class we do stretching and focused breathing. I like going in the morning so I get energized and have a positive start to the rest of my day. read more

I'm a huge fitness nerd. I've done several Ironman Triathlons and other "extreme" sporting events. I love training and programs like P90X. I also love trying new things (as all Elite Yelpers should), and that doesn't stop with exotic food & drink. Going into my first Barre3 class I had no idea what to expect. I hadn't noticed it on brookside and when I googled it I kind of thought It was going to be like a yoga class or something and super girlie. WRONG! I assumed I would be the only guy there but I wasn't and from what I could tell we all got our butts kicked - in a good way of course! The class began quickly and got my heart pumping right away. I felt amazing through the entire class. Our instructor was fantastic. You can tell she really loves what she does. Brenda's high energy and encouragement took me to the edge and really made me push myself. The ride was amazing and I enjoyed the endorphin rush from taking my muscles to failure over and over again. I was dripping wet by the end of class and am already looking forward to doing it again. If you're on the fence about this you can put that hesitation away right now. Just do it! You won't regret it. To all the fellas out there, if you're feeling weird about taking this class - I promise you will have your fitness not your manliness tested during this workout. If you're not so fit don't worry - this is a great place to start too. The class offers modifications for all kinds of physical needs and ability. There are different levels to each workout so you can push yourself as far or as little as your body allows. It really is great and I'm only saying that because it's true. I recently had surgery on me ole colon and have been sidelined from my usual long distance running until fully healed. Being an exercise nut, I begged my surgeon for an alternative to laying around all day and got him to approve yoga and Pilates. Win! It just so happened that I went to a Yelp event where Barre3 was a vendor, looked up their classes online, and found out there were free classes being offered that week! Win again! I have to say, I was skeptical but after two free classes, I loved my experience at Barre3! The instructors, one of whom was brand new, did an excellent job. I never felt any pressure to over-exert myself or try to keep up with others (unlike a certain yoga studio I ventured to last year). Each exercise could be modified for every level, much appreciated! My quads are still aching from the isometric holds! If I could afford the high cost of a membership, I would sign up in a heart beat. However, my running club costs me a measly $25 every six months so I'll stick with that. It's just incredibly hard for me to justify a 6 month, $130/month membership cost when I still have student loans that could be paid off instead. Sigh. Adulthood. Sigh. Responsibilities. read more

Last week I had one of the best lunch breaks ever here at Barre3! I love working out and since becoming pregnant it's been hard to feel well enough to want to workout nonetheless still find something challenging while being safe. I had gone from working out almost daily to zilch for seven weeks... until I heard about the miracle of Barre! I got to go to Brenda's class. I felt so welcomed and instantly part of the community there. The space is beautiful and located on Brookside right next to R Bar (which was a perfect place to grab a salad after the workout.) There is no need to bring any gear - they provide it all! The floors are antimicrobial and full of grip so you do the workout without shoes (it feels awesome!) They also clean down everything after ever class. The workout is a full hour of complete body toning! Cardio is even incorporated at the beginning to get heart rates moving in the smartest way. I told Brenda I was expecting before the class began and she made sure to help me modify moves for my belly :) I can't wait to do barre3 classes the rest of my life! AND! I have a two month unlimited membership for barre3 and I am loving it! Barre is becoming very popular, and I can see why. It is a WAY harder and more effective workout than I was expecting. Through small movements and body weight training, barre3 is a great way to gain lean muscle. I have already noticed a difference in my body from my first month of barre3! They say it is a 60 minute core workout and that is totally true. My core feels stronger and stronger after each class. If you are trying this for the first time, I would recommend going to a class with Brenda. She is the studio owner, and has been amazing at making sure that I have good form in class. It is crazy how just a slight adjustment in your body can work you so much harder. I was worried that all classes were going to be full of super ripped and skinny ladies, and that I would be intimidated because I'm still working towards that. But there are people of all skill levels in each barre3 class. The instructors are all so encouraging and helpful. I leave each class feeling stronger and accomplished. This is an amazing studio! Tip: Though it says one month of barre3 unlimited classes is $170 (which is way out of my price range) they have discounted specials for 3 and 6 month packages as low as $130 a month, or a flextime package with only certain class times available at $99 a month. Barre3 really is a blessing! It is a must try out in Tulsa!! I first tried it out with a Groupon and was hooked. The instructors are lovely ladies, who encourage you right where you are. Brenda and her team of incredible instructors will take you on an hour long body and mind challenging workout that will kick your tail right into gear. I am not exaggerating when I say that this studio and this workout has changed my life. The studio is beautiful and clean and in the most prime spot in Tulsa. The instructors are all warm and knowledgable, but also not afraid to kick your butt! They have CHILD CARE. It's so rare that a studio of this caliber have child care. The staff members who work at the front desk and watch the kids are so great. They learn everyone's names and make you feel so comfortable leaving your child or children for an hour. Barre3 is the best workout I've had in my life. But it's not just a workout, it's a lifestyle. It reminds me to move through my day with strength, elegance, and grace. Because of Barre3 I have the strength and tone like that of a ballet dancer that I've always wanted to achieve. The classes are high-energy and push you to the limit while also being restful and relaxing, reminding you to breathe...sounds ironic, but you have to take a class to see what I mean!
