14 years we've live in Burbank and finally went here for the first time. I didn't know that it was a sports bar. But BOY, it IS a sports bar. There is a tv screen at every table and even bigger screens elsewhere showing tv sports. I guess it could be fun with a group to watch a game. There were several loud groups around us. The decor is eclectic with lots of bikes, motorcycles, and license plates. I ordered the classic Cobb salad without tomatoes. My guy had the BLAT club which is like a BLT with avocado and fries. Met up some friends here for a drink and dinner before a movie on a Thursday night. It wasn't too crowded, but parking was CRAZY. Burbank was burbanking that night. Our server was very nice, but a little hard to flag down at times. She was apologetic and thankful for our patience when she'd come back and check on us. Fish & Chips was good! The fish was fluffy and crunchy on the outside and juicy and tasty on the inside. Fries came out fresh pipping hot. It took a while for them to cool down because they were so thick. The meal came with a side Caesar Salad. We tried to call and reserve seating but were told they do not accommodate same day reservations. No big deal as we had planned to arrive early for the NBA game anyways. We arrived around 4:45pm, the place was empty (game starts at 5:30pm). My husband proceeded to go into the restaurant excited while I waited for tonight's server Rachel to grab menus (per her instructions). She walked with me to the stadium seating area, where my husband had already taken a seat. There were no reserved signs, nothing at all- because there was literally nobody in that section or really the entire restaurant. She let us sit where he chose, walked away and back with waters then placed our drink orders. Brought our drinks and took our appetizer order. Before our apps arrived she told my husband that the row we were sitting in was actually reserved and we needed to move. My husband declined, since we were already settled with drinks and our food was just about to arrive. Noticing several little "meetings" with other employees/managers, we were uncomfortable and decided to ask for our bill. I didn't get the "manager's" name, she had a ponytail, was extremely rude and dismissive, saying you needed days in advance for reservations. Instead of simply taking accountability for her staff's miss on marking the tables reserved preemptively, especially being it seemed so important to them, or maybe at least an attempt to be professional mentioning there was a misunderstanding to patrons- mind you who were there already starting a tab set for the next 4 hours. So our money's no good here? Ok. We left (establishment still empty at almost game time) and went upstairs to Yard House- which btw has a MUCH better happy hour, food is great and all staff were very welcoming, TV's everywhere. Honestly no need for Barney's Beanery and no wonder it was so empty in the first place. Overhearing us tell our server about our experience, patrons next to us mentioned they had similar experiences and no longer frequent BB either. So sad, it used to be such a classic! read more

Then, upon entering, sitting at the bar, and having a beer, I expected the former governor of California to robotically stroll in and demand the vehicle and various articles of clothing from one of the patrons. Barney's Beanery has that fantastic, AUTHENTIC Americana vibe with the license plates on the ceiling and the classic Harley's parked inside. After a few pints, your mind drifts, thinking about taking the springer out of the bar and roaring down the 5 as if you were Hunter S Thompson or Peter Fonda, chasing that elusive and ultimately destructive unattached lifestyle completely void of tie-downs and hang-ups. I threw my husbands 40th surprise party here and it went amazing. The bleacher seating was perfect for our party and we had Destiny as our waitress. She was absolutely amazing! Probably the best service I've ever had and she was servicing about 40 people. It was so nice because they could do separate checks for everyone at the party. I was able to rent a pool table and the booths by it too so our party could play there too. Shoutout to Catherine Ward who is their events planner for making this super easy for us. Ive been going here on & off for years, the service has been going downhill and now appears to have hit rock bottom. Walked in today for lunch, barely any customers in there. Virtually no staff to be found or seen ANYWHERE. We were sat by the crusty skateboard greeter guy at the first table, who promptly ignored us (while standing right next to us) for more than 10 minutes. We assumed he was just the greeter, but he turned out to somehow also be our server? 10 minutes to ask for our drinks, disappeared for at least 10 more minutes. Another server, literally the only other server I saw in the entire fairly large restaurant, asked us if we needed anything. We said "this guy took our drink order 10 minutes ago, he's still not back." She said "let me go check on that for you." SHE disappears for at least five minutes, drinks finally come from her. 10 minutes after that, skater dude asks us if we're ready to order. We've been in there 25 minutes at this point. It's not busy whatsoever. Just completely ignored, as was seemingly every other table around us. Yeah, no. We bounced. Never going back. That place is an absolute shit show. read more

I felt like I was a burden for her. She treated my friend Nolan like he was subhuman. And then she slid back with the receipt and I asked to see the whole receipt before paying and she acted like it was absolutely impossible to do, so my friend flip , who has social anxiety, whipped out his credit card, knowing he doesn't have enough money to pay the whole bill and when she placed the screen in his face the 20% tip option was already in place and he got frantic and spam clicked it. Headed in for a pre movie drink during happy hour. Sat at the bar on a very quiet Thursday, was not acknowledge for a couple of minutes while both bartender and bar back were only a few feet away. Once acknowledged we were handed menus and given a few moments to decide. The bartender took one of our drink orders and proceeded to have a conversation with the group sitting down the bar. Given how quiet the bar was, we were shocked to not have gotten ONE drink. Mind you, the bartender walked away without giving the rest of our party a chance to order! I really, REALLY want to like this place. The food is great. However, the first time I went there, it was empty. Not closed, just empty. I literally had to go LOOK FOR someone to seat us. Today, I tried again. We got seated, but the service was maddening. We asked for soup in a mug instead of a bowl, due to a disability which was described to the waitress. She brought the soup as requested but charged us almost $10 for the privilege of using a mug instead of a bowl. Of course, she promptly disappeared on a break and we left unable to address her taking advantage of the disability. 2022.01-23_1000: Yup, early AF but our team was playing and we couldn't get it on ESPN+. Then I remember years ago, we visited this spot to watch a football game and I remembered they were open early. It was Sunday and sure enough, they were open! It's very different during the day. In fact, I thought it was better. We stopped in at the right time because it was right before the LA Rams/Buccaneers game and it was packed. The great thing was, there's so many TVs there, we were able to watch our Pittsburgh Penguins game. Not many hockey fans there but who cares! We can watch our game and that's all that matters! The service there was actually great. They must've expected a butt load of people because they had plenty of servers available. We sat facing the bar and the guy who greeted us was the bartender, too. Well hell, once everyone started coming in, all the servers turned into bartenders-it was pretty awesome to watch the hustle for as busy as they were. I remember those days and those days were awesome! There was never a lag in service and no matter who passed by our table, they would ask if we were okay! Primo, if you ask me. Our food was delicious. I just thought it would be more cafe style and it wasn't. We started with two Irish Coffees. I had the Eggs Florentine and they presented it perfectly and it tasted so good! Their Hollandaise was creamy and the poached eggs were also perfect. When I cracked the yolk, it ran down the mound of spinach, sausage (I added that) and sourdough English muffin. Wow, a new favorite if we visit again! The hash browns were light and crispy, just like I like them and what's even better- they served it with a side of strawberries! Heck yeah! He had a California Burger so I guess that means it had bacon and avocado in it. That looked gourmet, too. The brioche bun looked incredible, in fact, the burger looked so good, it looked fake. The size of the bigger looked about a quarter of a pound. That burger was delicious, too (I had a bite but it was huge). The portioning of food to pricing was excellent. It was reasonably priced. What made our experience even better was the service though. Like I said, from not being busy to being slammed, they always kept tabs on us no matter who it was. That was awesome.
