Ok, so it depends what you're looking for. As far as a large selection of non school books there is only a small section. There's supplies for school and an online order pickup for textbooks. A small tech area. As far as GaTech fan gear. This location has it all (except for big and tall size clothes). Only a few things were 50% off. Great tumblers and hats though. Very expensive fan gear but worth it if you don't want to look online.

STOP WITH THE INSANE RULES FOR STUDIERS UPSTAIRS. They run this place more like a military boot camp than a place for students to study. Months ago I got asked to stop appearing like I was sleeping though the officer and I both acknowledged I was not sleeping, just resting my head during studying. Today I got told off for studying with my feet outside my slides. Then I got told off for resting my feet (with shoes on) on another chair. What's next, no elbows on the table? Will we need to start balancing a book on our heads to prove our posture? This is not a good place to study for exhausted and hardworking students at the very university this b&n is themed after. Clearly part of Tech's anti-homelessness rules taken out on students just trying to study.

I stopped here when I had a bit of time to kill. As would be expected they have a lot of Georgia Tech gear and a Starbucks. There is an area which has electronics, computers, earbuds, etc. The upstairs area has more swag and there are study tables scattered throughout which I would imagine are convenient for students and/or visiting families. There are also various school related supplies. There is a parking garage directly across the street as well.

    Check out...

The is perhaps the nicest Barnes and Noble Bookstore that I've ever visited and I have been in a few. As indicated by both the location and name, this B&N is Georgia Tech themed and it's quite evident when you walk through the door fro 5th St. The space is huge and the vista unique. New books are positioned on the wall to the left (East wall) and the checkout is on the right (West wall). There's also a Starbucks in the adjoining space to the East, however at present it's going through a remodel and is closed with large orange barrels blocking the main entrance. Books cascade on the right towards a "Technology Center" while the left side is mostly Georgia Tech-branded merchandise (clothing for the most part) with escalators providing access to a mezzanine-like second level. The book selection is quite selection - I didn't dwell too much in most of the racks, however the Science Fiction, Comics and Anime sections were well stocked (not surprising at GT, no?) And actually compared to the other Atlanta area B&N stores, the collection is quite extensive with some depth to much of the series fiction. The magazine racks (on the left or East wall) was puny - surprising but in retrospect, with everything going digital and this being GT, perhaps not-so-much. Walking though the racks, most of the GT-branded items were labeled Russell Athletic (which also provides GT's program gear if I'm not mistaken). If you can't find something here you're no looking too hard - it's like a candy store for a GT fan. Going upstairs you'll find text books and other school supplies, even some art supplies. This store does a good job providing what most students would need and I would think is very convenient. Unfortunately the store wasn't very busy (granted, it was after 7:00 PM on a Wed) but with school into summer session that's to be expected. The back quadrant has a Barnes and Nobles Technology Center label on it and it's filled with Apple computers, devices and associated appliances. I didn't dwell too long in that area but I believe you can pick up what you need to get started in your classes (as far as equipment goes) there. As with all B&N stores the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable regarding their inventory - seems there is a haven for all us book nerds when we fill the itch. I arrived in the area for a Technology Association of Georgia meeting (at the TRSB building across the street) so arrived by MARTA and walked the 5 or so blocks into the area. I've also attended training classes at the Georgia Tech Hotel and Conference Center (across Spring St) and this bookstore is very convenient to both venues so you should definitely check it out if your in the area.

I love bookstores.  Real bookstores.  Where I can touch real books.  With the age of Amazon among us, most people would rather shop for books online rather than sit and actually review books.  I've been coming to bookstores forever!  B&N, Borders, waldens, posmans.  Anytime I see a bookstore....I'm in... First of all, this bookstore is on a campus.  That's probably the reason this REAL bookstore exists.  It's on the campus of GA Tech.  And it is freaking amazing.  Very clean, a study/reading area with a fire pit, books on the cheap and very comfortable.  The clientle here is also mixed to perfection I think.  You have college kids, professors, regular folk and a little "dab" of homeless people (it is midtown atlanta I suppose).  Everyone is here for the same reason though....books... By the way I'm a huge cookbook collector and I recently saw 50% off of the latest cookbooks (So screw you amazon!!). The selection here isn't huge but it is diverse and normally up to date.  Totally what I expect from a bookstore.  I love this place.  It's great.  Take a trip here, get a coffee at the inhouse overpriced starbucks and look around.  It just may be better than what you'd get online....

Georgia Tech fan and wondering where you can get one of those frizzy, yellow wigs that those crazy, shirtless Tech men where behind the goal posts at football games? The Barnes and Noble @ Georgia Tech is where you can get everything Tech. Prices may be high, but if you stick to the sales racks in the back, you can find t-shirts and other Tech apparel at a discount. Expect this place to be packed during home games and during the month of August. If you are a student at Tech, you know you can get new and used books all year round here. Even better, they will buy back some of your text books at the end of each semester. They do a great job at setting up booths around campus during finals week for students to sell back their text books for cash. This past semester, I tried selling back a book without the companion CD and they wouldn't take it. Luckily I tried selling it at another tent they had set up and the person taking the book didn't notice that there was no CD in the pouch and paid me over 90 dollars for it! Also, if you can't sell back your book one semester, try the next semester because I've held on to books for a year that they didn't take back, but finally they did and I made over 200 bucks.

Nice study lounge on 2nd floor.

I come here a lot and it's a great bookstore, provided that you understand that it shares its use with a Starbucks, a computer store and a college bookstore. I would rate it my 2nd-3rd favorite in the City -- behind Perimeter and Buckhead. The books are primarily on the first floor. The pickings are varied, more than you might find at other places, but less popular books. The second floor has an excellent selection of math books, which should be no surprise. And it's possible to read books in the Starbucks downstairs. (The magazines are also close by.) There's great space upstairs to do some work, if that's what you've come to do. Many Barnes & Nobel's doe not have great seating, so this is a step up. And there are great views to the Courtyard. What's the downside -- this is an odd thing to say, but there are a fair number of folks whom are there because it is a free space. That's true at a lot of bookstores in downtown areas. But it is a little surprising on a college campus. That detracts from being able to read -- and that is mostly upstairs. When GT is in full swing, that's not such a big deal, but when it's not, you'll notice it and it will detract from the experience. Of course, if your goal is to buy books, you may not notice that, but just the slightly smaller selection -- replaced by an excellent selection of GT gear.

Escalators on the way up to the second floor

This is quite the hidden gem of a bookstore in Atlanta! This place feels very cozy and calming. There are countless books throughout the entire store sorted by genres. They even have a downstairs area filled with additional books as well as periodicals and magazines. The store almost transports you back in time, because there are sooooo many older and vintage copies of books. They even have some signed books for sale too! I saw a Dr. Seuss booked that was signed by the man himself...pretty cool if I do say so myself! The signed copies vary, but definitely take a look when you're there! It would make a super cool gift for someone. Another cool thing, is that they have 2 store cats! You will most likely find them by the front desk with the employees. One was napping when I came and the other was sitting right by the desk. The books all vary in price. It kinda just depends on what you get. I'll definitely be back in the future to take a further look!

There is a huge and stunning wall of rocks and gems you can self-service with a variety of types, shapes, finishes and priced at a very accessible level. I've had the opportunity to visit Little Shop of Stories numerous times since I moved to Atlanta, but my visits totally hit differently now that I'm a mom. As someone raised by a teacher (with help from Reading Rainbow and Levar Burton), I've passed this onto my son although he can't read yet, lol. So we are always adding to his little library as he grows. Beyond books, Little Shop of Stories also carries so many fun educational toys for kids and books for readers of all ages. It's so easy to get lost in their large collections, but luckily they keep it incredibly organized and make it easy to find whatever your imagination can dream of. After finding a few goodies to take home to my little one, I strolled around the store a bit more and took in the whimsical vibes. Just being in there lifted my mood! Seriously a wonderful place to transport yourself into the magical world of books and discovery, no matter your age.

My Review of the Book Crook: Waiting 48 Years to Leave This Google Review…read more On my 13th birthday decades ago, my parents opened a small new-and-used bookstore called The Book Trading Post here in the Atlanta area. They ran it successfully for 12 years. My father had connected with Alex, the owner of the original Book Nook on or near North Decatur/Clairmont, who promised a great variety of around 30,000 books. What arrived instead were massive duplicates -- 30 to 50 copies of the same titles. It was a horrible, upsetting experience that stayed with my father. At the time I was 13 and didn't really know what it all meant -- I just knew he was upset. My father passed in 1981 after chemotherapy and radiation at Emory. Recently, I brought in a large personal collection to the current Book Nook Decatur location -- over 130 albums plus many books, including rare 1940s-1960s sci-fi classics and a signed copy of Miracle in Atlanta. As a longtime collector of coins, books, comics, historic color brochures, and more, I knew the value easily exceeded $500, likely more. I first spoke with the manager on March 25th of this year. He gave a standard percentage quote and left a message. When I returned on March 27th to collect payment, I received just $70. They kept all the books -- which filled the entire counter on the right when you walk in -- and roughly half the albums. I left with two small suitcases. Walking around the store afterward, I saw their selling prices and realized they stand to make a substantial profit. I spoke with the manager (Doogie, like Doogie Howser from the 1980s show) and then with an employee named Scott, who has been there for years. I shared some of this backstory. Scott was pretend friendly and even suggested I didn't really need to write a bad review. That conversation left me feeling extremely uncomfortable, and that discomfort is exactly why I decided to write this review now. The owner is very old (likely in his late 80s or early 90s) and does not come into the store. I felt the manager was dishonest in the way the offer and process were handled. It all felt like history repeating itself in the worst way -- like a scene from Red Dawn: "Avenge me." In the end, I just took the money to be done with it. This isn't just about one low payout. Most people don't know the old story of The Book Trading Post and that first disappointing deal with the Book Nook. Now the full 48-year circle -- from my parents' store in the 1970s to today -- is part of the public record. If you have anything of real value (books, albums, collectibles), think carefully before bringing it here. Get your own realistic expectations and consider other options. P.S. For comedy purposes, I've officially renamed this place The Book Crook.
