Good bookstore I'm assuming it's black owned the clerk was knowledgeable and helpful to recommend some things. He also had a few books that were published and present in the store. All sorts of good novels from established authors to new writers invites authors in for book signings from time to time. Unfriendly owner who seems to be all about the money. Went after work a few months ago. Took me over 45min to get there only to find a handwritten note on the door..."CLOSED" return in 2 days. My first time there, I picked up a pair of sandals wrapped in plastic. The owner ran over to me, and removed the shoes from my hand and said, "please continue to shop. i will put these at the register for you." (As if I was going to take them without paying.) Love all the African American books for children! When you can't find some of the popular childrens books in regular stores ( like Please, Baby Please, by Spike Lee)- this is the place to go! I have been going to Nubian Bookstore since I was a freshman in college. I used to visit my father in Atlanta over my spring/summer breaks and since my father had no idea as to what to do with a 18 year old girl he would take me to every mall in the city and we would always head to Southlake so I could go to Nubian and flirt with the young handsome owner. Marcus has known me since I was small enough to wear daisy dukes and look decent in them. To my surprise when I moved to Atlanta in Fall 2007, Marcus was still there and still running Nubian Bookstore. I honestly thought he would have moved into a different industry, but he's still there. Nubian is a great bookstore for little known black authors. He stocks books from folks you've heard of as well, but you gotta appreciate someone who gives the little to unknowns a chance to shine. There is usually a book signing every weekend. Additionally, the store has some Greek nalia and other things. Anytime I'm at Southlake, I gotta go by Nubian and see what's new. Marcus can recommend books for whatever your mood is. I'll be like Marcus, I want a nasty sex novel and he'll surface with five or six different books for me to select from. Great store, great service, plus he has met both of my parents in passing. No man has ever met both of my parents. Great place. read more

One of the BEST BOOK STORES in America. Marcus kept his word about getting my book to me in three days from Morrow, GA. to Seattle, Wa. This was despite the holiday package delivery issues. He asked me to call him to let him know when it arrived!! Who does that? I was truly impressed with the quality of service, the attention to detail and the full Service" attitude.
