We frequently visit this Barnes & Noble store, which is conveniently located near our home. In addition to its extensive book collection, the store also features a Starbucks, ample seating, a section dedicated to toys, puzzles, and gift items. It is always kept clean, bright, and tidy. We primarily browse their toddler and children's book sections for our daughter. I've discovered many relevant books that cater to both leisure and educational purposes, all at reasonable prices. The staff is always friendly and ready to assist us. Our checkouts have been consistently smooth and quick.

I missed going to a B&N for years, and was so glad to step into this one that looked like it underwent renovation. It's huge and clean!! Not sure why such low rating?! There is a cafe and seatings throughout. It's conveniently located inside the mall. It's really nice to see so many people inside as people still treasure holding a physical book. There were so many sections from Japanese comic books to business to mystery/thrillers to self-help to magazines. Would definitely love to come back and check out more on the selection.

I think this is a really nice Barnes and Noble. It is very spacious. It has enough seating areas for you to sit down and read, even has a cafe where you can dine in and read your book or whatever you come to do at a Bookstore. The cafe didn't accept anything Starbucks related, even though they were supposed to be Starbucks affiliated and they were even promoting the pumpkin spice latte. I don't know if it's because the place has a relaxing vibe or what, but the staff was very slow. They moved like turtles. We asked for two cookies warmed up and a Strawberry Frappe. That alone took like 20 mins and there were three of them and just us and one guy ordering behind us. It was odd. I would say if you're not in a rush skip the Cafe. If you just want to grab a book or some nick nack. Then you'll be fine here.

Welcome to the future, Barnes and Noble customers. Visiting the Riverside location in its new home (around the corner from Houston's and Oceanaire) it's easy to see that the 21st century is here and Barnes and Noble is doing its best to keep up. This new spot is light, bright and modern, a firm attempt to embrace the new. It takes some getting used to, especially after the carpeted, cozy, old wood library feel of the original Riverside Barnes and Noble, but this definitely has a feel of the future. It's white, bright and modern. The cafe is clean and blindingly white. While it's not the comfortable feeling of the original, there are definite benefits to the new layout and structure. This new incarnation has only one floor. Farewell to the escalator and balcony views of the original, as well as the CD and movie sections, but alas, this is the way of progress.

Finally, this place reopened after the renovation. And I love this place. Great selection of books and stationaries and everything else. The café is nice except the police are a little mean. Maybe it's because early morning. Tables are there but not many and usually it gets filled up pretty quickly. By noon or so, tables are already filled with people. I try to go in before 1130 for sure to get a table.

What's better than reading? Maybe when your kids read too...or when they can be free and use their mind and not their iPad... This is a great location with Starbucks built in amd quite a few restaurants to have a nice family lunch. Many hands on books and children activities.

Service is terrible. Not a real Starbucks, cup broke coffee went everywhere, cleaned the whole floor and the lady was nasty. Stay clear.

I have to say i like the new store. It's a little stark for my taste, but still open and cheerful. I love the huge bargain book section!!!

    Is this location closing?

It moved to a much smaller spot on the other side of the mall (next to Morton's and the new Cheesecake Factory).

The renovation in 2018 ruined it. Walking through the doors feels like walking into a cramped art gallery or warehouse or airport terminal... you get the gist. Lighting is very bright, display tables and book shelves feel cramped together, and it gets very loud and crowded. Seating area is tight and limited. Want to read, study, or work here? Then you have to come earlier in the day (9-11am) to snag a spot. Need to use electronics to work or study? Then you have to come extra early to grab a spot with an outlet; not all tables have outlets nearby and there aren't enough for everyone. All of these things make it difficult to do anything here. They have their own cafe that serves Starbucks products. The best drink is the brown sugar oat milk shaken espresso. I've tried a few other drinks like the refreshers but they are just average. The biggest ick for me is that I pay close to $8 for a large cup of 70-80% ice even after requesting light ice. Can I get a hell no. Other than that, the employees are polite and friendly. Service can be slow at times but I believe it's a staffing issue. I don't think it's fair that sometimes there is only one of them to take orders and make drinks. This is probably better off as just a grab and go cafe for shoppers. The ambiance is really lacking on what a bookstore is supposed to be like.

"You don't go here to find a book.  Here a book finds you."…read more(I totally cribbed that from another Yelper's review of a different bookstore - in another state - so I'm allowed!) Can I share a story with you?  During the Dark Ages (pre-internet, no Yelp or smartphones) learning about something a bit off-the-beaten-path, let alone being able to source it, was an arduous task. I was an English Lit major and one of my professors loved to talk about even more books than the ones already assigned to his class and he always mentioned 'The Three Christs of Ypsilanti' that he read himself when he was in college.  It sounded more interesting than what we were reading in class (sorry, but there's only so many times you can endure 'Oedipus Rex') and I went hunting for 'Three Christs' but never had any luck.  Most workers at other shops gave the quizzical "What'cha talkin 'bout Willis?!" look and I'd leave empty-handed (or with a completely different book... just because).  Then I found myself here.  And while casually strolling through the store and eyeing up all the titles... I found a used copy!  (Can I tell you one other thing?  The book was a bit dry and dated and part of me wished it stayed like the Holy Grail - that it might keep me searching through different bookstores but never actually finding it.) And it's been more than a few years (okay, decades!) since I scored 'Three Christs' and now I'm here once again - this time doing my part to properly celebrate and support "Independent Bookstore Day" - and man oh man... you could lose an entire day here just drifting from rack to rack, aisle to aisle, floor to floor. Whatever you fancy - they have a section for it. Pricing is a-okay. The quality of the 'newer' used books is most excellent.  (The older, more rare and worn copies are out of reach or behind glass cases.) Behind the counter is the coolest and friendliest gal. From music to books to merch to a "gumball machine" that has poems (of course, right?) - the world is a better place with mom and pop (book)stores like this in it. "Since 1984" - and hoping they'll be going strong for another 40-plus years... (PS: if you stumble upon the movie version of 'Three Christs' - skip that as well.  They tried to make it a comedy and it's awful.)
