Service at this store has always been excellent. I've never had a problem finding assistance from a team member and everyone is pleasant. The cafe is a great place to take a break as well with quick and efficient service. read more

This review is for the Starbucks cafe inside of Barnes & Noble. While the young staff of the cafe was pleasant, I was met with a very condescending & rude employee that I can only describe as female, mid-50s, heavy set with glasses + salt & pepper hair. And this was after I had already spent nearly $14 in the cafe on a sandwich, dessert item, and triple expresso. The only reason why I stopped at B&N in the first place was that I didn't want the nearby KwikTrip coffee, nor did I want to drive a few miles into downtown Appleton on this day. I was fatigued, and needed a good caffeine burst right away. Enter Starbucks cafe inside of B&N, which was the nearest venue close to my hotel next to the Fox River Mall. After ordering my food items and required triple expresso (my gold standard) from an incredibly polite twenty-something college female barista, I get this sneer from Ms. Grumpy Dumpy from her table as she was apparently on her break. I smile, of which she never changes her expression. It was as if I had ran over her dog or something with the look she was giving me. I wanted to ask the friendly barista "WTF is wrong with Mount Rushmore over there?" I thought nothing of it at further, so I didn't make it an issue. A few minutes later, the second barista (twenty-something male) indicated that my food order as ready, I waited patiently as my drink order was being prepared by barista #1. Ms. Large Marge decides to end her break, walk over to the counter to assert her authority. Without even looking at me, she picks up my coffee, and says "Here you go", then proceeds to nearly throw it onto the counter. Sort of stunned, I'm thinking "What in thee hayle just happened?" I wasn't in the mood to make this an issue, since I was tired. In addition, the two younger baristas were in stark contrast to their manager, considering how pleasant they were to me. As I start walking away toward the exit of B&N while shaking my head in disgust, I overhear the rude manager say "Next time, don't give him so much expresso." I so wanted to tell her that I had a triple expresso, and that if she had paid attention in 3rd grade math class, the volume of three expresso shots would be a larger quantity than one traditional expresso shot. Altogether, this experience motivated me to seek out better coffee venues in Appleton, mainly downtown and close to Lawrence University. Thanks to the awful attitude that I experienced from the Starbucks cafe manager inside of this B&N, I'll certainly never return to the cafe again no matter how bad my caffeine urges are. This manager is definitely not management material. If you don't like your job, fine. Don't take out your job frustrations on the consumer. read more

i and my mom Love this barnes&noble!!! They are always very helpfully even if you have a little list of thing you might want, they will look it up!!!! Sometime we get coffee or smoothie they are very good!!! read more

Barnes and Noble has a horrible return policy! We bought a vinyl record that was defective straight out of the package. They will not let you return it and won't give a refund. The only thing you can do is exchange it for the exact same thing. Which they did not have any other copies of either. So we had to leave with a broken record, others online have had problems with the same record, which we mentioned to the woman at Barnes and Noble and she was dismissive of our concerns. We spent upwards of $80 there yesterday and we were treated poorly after having an issue with one of our items. I'm ordering from Amazon from now on, they take returns and take care of their customers. I think this store needs to go the way of the dinosaur. read more

this is a huge BN. they have a full service starbucks and tables to sit at so you can drink your latte. they even have british marie claire! i was amazed by the HUGE rows of english-translated manga here. i guess somehow in the middle of america there is a demand for japanese comic books. this place is one of the few places that actually stays open until 11pm (besides bars) where you can hang out. i've noticed that most places close around 9, which sucks! so kudos for having japanese manga and british imported magazines! read more

So I made my order and attempted to use my Starbucks gift card and was told they dont take it -as they are not Starbucks -they are Barnes and Noble. As far as I can see, everything says Starbucks but okay. I asked for 1 shot espresso and got three. They said they would heat up the pie but didn't. Sorry Barnes and Noble / not Starbucks, nothing there impressed me. Your place is a joke! read more

This is a good sized bookstore, clean and well laid out, with a decent selection. There's a Starbucks on the side with plenty of seating, so you can pick up a book and linger over it with a cup of coffee and a pastry, if you like. My daughter found the next Harry Potter book, along with a bunch of Harry Potter gift-type items (puzzle, adult coloring book, chocolate frog ... I forget what also), but also a really pretty hardcover copy of Alice in Wonderland and another teen book. I browsed a good assortment of cookbooks, some trendy foodie type books mixed in with a good array of more usable all-purpose cookbooks - something for nearly everyone. A small selection of vinyl LP's was a nice surprise. Plenty of parking outside. read more

As some others have said, the cafe staff is hit or miss. If it's after 8, it's almost always a miss. The same woman was apparently on staff again tonight. Very heavy, older, short gray hair. The customer in front of me asked if they were still open, to which she replied "sort of". It was 8:50pm. They are open till 10. The customer ordered a water will no repercussions and left. I knew I was in trouble. I ordered my double chocolate chip frap which was met with a heavy sigh and no further verbal communication. One of the most awkward and uncomfortable experiences at the counter, ever. Check your staff B&N, I assume there are many more people out there who are willing to take this shift in a more positive manner and better hygiene and appearance. You'd be getting one star, but the rest of the staff at your store is excellent. read more

We love Barnes and noble! So we were so excited to find one near by when we moved. Well an hr away lol....but I make the drive. Clean, organized, friendly....and Starbucks inside! My kids and I literally get lost for 2hrs+ no problem. read more

I am on crutches with a walking boot following an accident. I sat down to have coffee and lunch when I got a call from my daughter regarding an important issue. A very rude and unpleasant woman in her late 50's with dark brown hair came over and kicked me out of the café because I had sat at a table longer than their 30 minute allowed amount. I can understand their need to move people in/out as quickly as possible, but this woman was extremely and unnecessarily rude, especially since I could not pick up my lunch and leave -- I needed my hands for the crutches. We have spent a lot of money at Barnes & Nobles over the years. This used to be one of our favorite places to go for a coffee and to look at a magazine, but not anymore. Especially when I have seen how the staff bends over backwards to assist people that are not wearing masks, which is the state law at this point. They tried to assist someone without a mask by having him stand in the entryway. Anyone going in or out of the store needed to pass within a foot or two of this man - not the recommended 6 feet. So they are willing to endanger other people's lives in order to help someone without a mask, but will kick someone out of the café for sitting at a table longer than 30 minutes. Very unimpressed at this point. read more

The cafe staff is always hit or miss. Tonight was a huge miss. There was an older, bigger-set woman with short, gray-white hair working in the cafe around 9:00 pm. I am choosing to describe her with details so that management will recognize who she is and address her poor behavior. She was less than friendly and seemed to be in a bad mood. At first, I was joking with her about my drink of choice but her sour mood made my whole experience so negative that I walked away (with my beverage) in a confused but very upset state & I forgot to order my drink with dairy-free milk because I was such in a hurry to physically step away from this less-than-friendly individual. Then I overheard her interaction with the one other female staff working in the cafe; she seemed to be ordering her around and was just plain mean. It's very daunting and unprofessional to hear someone speak like that to another colleague. Please address this individual about her poor treatment of Barnes and Noble customers and her colleagues. read more

Awesome! I just got here from Kenosha and I am so happy to find a B&N just a few miles from my new home.

I was EXTREMELY disgusted with my experience at Barnes and Noble this week. During check out, my 5 year old pointed out a disgusting magazine on the shelf in front of her. I was horrified to see it was Playboy! Who puts this type of magazine at their check out?! And it is important to point out that those shelves are not even at adult eye-level. Only someone 2 -3 feet tall would be able to see these displays. Real nice at a store that claims to be kid-friendly... I would have said something to the cashier, but he was less than friendly to begin with so I doubt it would have gone anywhere productive. I an furious and will make sure that I tell my friends with children as well. Nice Job, Barnes and Noble. read more

store is fabulous. they have a large selection. the store service was excellent. the Starbucks inside has a limited menu and are routinely out of stock of many items. also the baristas are rude. buy your books here and stop for coffee elsewhere. read more
