After arriving at our hotel my wife and I decided to take a walk and saw this place down a side street from the Main Street. Casual and quaint decor, homey and comfortable. Wonderful atmosphere, friendly people and incredible food!! My wife ordered the salmon which was well prepared and very tasty. The cream sauce that it was served with was a nice compliment to her salmon. The sautéed veggies were perfection! They were not over-cooked nor greasy. She also had small potatoes baked in butter. My dish is hard to figure from the photo, but I can tell you for my taste it was excellent. It is promoted as the specialty of the house. I was pleased. The meal is a veal steak with a Madeira wine reduction sauce and an Azores cheese sauce. These two sauces did not compete but rather complimented each other very well. The stack you see also contained creamed spinach (delicious preparation), and potato slices similar to scalloped potatoes. We had the House red which turned out to be amazing. Finally, we shared the chocolate mousse with almonds and it was worthy of the finest French restaurants! The only negative I would report is that the veal was tough, it was tasty though. There is a good variety in the menu as well. read more
