Barleycorn had pros and cons, and depending on what you are looking for in a restaurant will depend on which columns you'd put each item in. We had never been there before so we had no idea what to expect. When we got there, it is a "seat yourself" situation. It's more a bar than a restaurant, so it makes sense. The only frustrating thing was that there was no one really covering the entrance. While my partner and I waited in the lobby area for a table to open up, patrons who came in after us would just walk into the dining area and hover around tables until people would leave. That's not the fault of the restaurant, especially on a busy night, but it did leave us a bit frustrated in the beginning. Because the restaurant was so busy, the waitstaff was not very attentive. It felt like they were spread pretty thin. It was the first nice night of the spring, so lots of people were out in the patio area. The food was pretty decent. My sandwich was really good and I liked the egg roll appetizer. My partner liked the po boy, but the shrimp breading was very dark on the outside - usually meaning the oil hadn't been changed out. Overall, if you are looking for a relaxed bar atmosphere with outdoor seating where you can watch a game, this place will be good for you. If you're looking for a quiet restaurant with attentive service, this may not be the place. read more

Stopped in for lunch mid-week during burger week. Service was very friendly, food was better than expected and the overall value was amazing, boosted by the $8 Burger Week special. The only problem was a surly employee (maybe even manager?) who was moving (dragging) chairs around on the concrete floor creating a huge amount of noise while we were trying to talk. I understand why the reviews here are inconsistent. There doesn't seem to be a sense of focus on the customer experience. It's not that hard to pick up a chair and place it instead of dragging it around in the loudest way possible. Expect mediocrity and maybe you will be pleasantly surprised. It's a shame because this place could be 5 stars with consistently good service. read more

Great place for happy hour! Right by my friend's condo so we decided to try it. This place has such a fun and lively atmosphere. Would love to watch a game here sometime. Barleycorn's is a long time staple in the region and despite a change of hands through the years the quality remains consistent. It has the chain vibe without being a large chain, so it doesn't sacrifice quality. Nor, does it have that weird twilight zone where everything tastes the same from the permanence of grease. They have my absolute hands down favorite bbq sauce and I could drench my chicken tenders in it. I order the most boring food when I go because it simply tastes that good! Combo pretzel app, chicken tenders and saratoga chips w/ extra bbq. Service is hit or miss but is almost always at standard. I've never had bad service, just a bit slow. It's the dead effect and normal w hen it's an off time. Take time to visit and grab a pint while you're there. read more

One of the best sports bars around. I'm old school and remember when they used to float on the Ohio river. The staff is friendly and attentive. The happy hour food is great. I really like their giant wings. They supply many TVs for your sports watching pleasure. A very nice place to watch your team. I love the atmosphere of this place - especially in warmer months! Open garage doors and dog friendly patio with relief area are two huge wins, although the street traffic is noisy, too noisy for my rescue dog. Servers and bartenders are always friendly too. Fun events during the week; my friends and I have participated in Singo twice; so fun! I'm a pretty lame beer-drinker, but I always try something out of my light beer comfort zone when I'm here. Tonight I had a Valhalla, and I wasn't disappointed, but Route 9 after that (a very good light beer). The menu is limited at the Brewhouse location, but vegetarian options are almost nonexistent. I had fried pickles (with a really good Chipotle ranch dip) and chips and queso; both were hot and fresh, but lack of good vegetarian options is my biggest complaint. A flatbread, a couple of sides, a couple of appetizers, and salads are it. I would love a good house made veggie burger here or a roasted veggie wrap? If they could get zero stars they would. I went on a Friday night to sit outside. It is seat yourself. I sat myself at a table that was dirty and waited patiently to be greeted. After I was passed by 4 servers and not greeted I asked a server , is this your table ? She says haha yes I haven't gotten around to cleaning it yet. I said great well we will wait. She proceeded to clean a different table and began serving 4 other tables before GREETING US. as I asked another server to get mine I was told " can you just like wait a minute " at this point I had been waiting for a beer for 30 minutes on a Friday night at a patio. After getting up and cussing out the manager behind the bar, I was helped after an hour and a half of WAITING AT A TABLE. the worst serve ever. I will never go back to this location. I have been to the Brewhouse several times in the last year. They have great beer and a condensed menu from the other Barleycorn's restaurants, but this is a brewery with food. They have a great outdoor area, and plenty of TV's to catch a game. I love this place!! read more

This is my second review, removed the other one, the first time there we had a very shaky experience, mostly due to our server, I did fall in love with their Saratoga Chips, enough for the hubby and I to give it one more chance. We always pass it on the way home from pickleball at Sawyer Pointe. This time, thanks to an amazing server, Raven, our experience was entirely different. We came in at the tail end of a huge rush and she was great, helped to get tables cleaned up, and was on the spot with everything. I'm not a big beer drinker but tried two and both were worth returning for, along with the very good food and those chips....well the love affair continues! I always believe in second chances so I am happy to report, that there will be many more stops on the way home. read more

What a fun place! I love the decor inside and out. It's bright and clean. The murals outside are cool! I can't wait to go when it gets warmer and eat outside. They have a great variety of beers and cocktails. The Barleycorn beers are fabulous! My fav was the Crazy Norse (Hazy IPA). Try a flight and sample a few. My favorite are the wings. They have Doc style. I don't know why they don't sell all the wings like this. They fry em, sauce em and fry them again. Since this cooks off the spice you can add a sauce on the side. They are crispy and juicy. Also BIG! The blue cheese is delicious, very chunky. We sat at the bar and ate. Our server was also the bartender. She was terrific. She was helpful, kind and fast. She was able to describe the beers well. I overheard her helping others who weren't sure what they wanted. Overall we loved this place and will be back for sure! read more

Excellent find! Heading back to my hotel, and saw the well lit clean looking place and headed in. Instantly greeted, seated and watered. Went with cheeseburger and fries. Super thick juicy burger with, in my opinion, the most important part- a good bun. Crispy nicely salted fries too. Dining by myself, I felt extremely welcome, and the manager, I think his name was Tim, went out of his way to strike up a conversation with me. Good dude. Went to Barleycorn tonight to visit with family. The music and games were fun; house specialty drink was very good; service was okay - server was good though way too busy; BUT, the chips and queso was the absolute worst ever. $10.99 for heavy, thick, nearly inedible *potato* chips with a bowl of mediocre cheese. I can't think of any food I've ever ordered that was as bad. Thankfully I went for family and time spent together was priceless. read more

Small menu is fine IF it's great food.... This was not Beer was ok but small drafts and $$ Servers didn't know difference between beers and couldn't recommend WHY do you work at a brewery??? Pro -- I like the venue and think it's a great set up for going with a large group of people. waitress Brooklyn was great and went above and beyond to provide the best service. Con -- they don't take names for seating, so you have to stand around and wait for a table to open up Which creates much chaos. They have large sofas you can sit at but can only order drinks. its a small menu of items .. same type of food as other barleycorns. we ordered a cod sandwich and it came with one small piece of cod which was enough for half a sandwich and it was $14.99. shared feedback with manager who wasn't apologetic.. claimed cod size was anywhere between 4-8 oz. clearly we got the smallest portion. will not go back .. plenty of better choices read more

when a restaurant starts getting rid of the things you enjoy, then all you can do is to get rid of that restaurant, which is what barleycorns is doing. they've changed ownership and the new owners are making changes for the worst, in my opinion. things used to be okay/good, now, they're just barely okay. the food is bland & overpriced for the small portions, the wait staff seemed more interested in themselves than the customers and the whole place was different but not for the good and the brewpub offerings were not very imaginative nor inviting. read more

I live right next door to this place and have been a steady customer. I used to brag on their food. Unfortunately, quality has gone down hill, FAST. I went in two nights ago and waited just under an hour for a burger and fries. AN HOUR. When I got it, it was an absolute mess. I ordered it to-go. They just threw it in the box. Bun was off the burger. Fries were scattered on top of the cheese. If I told my 3 year old to put together a hamburger, this is probably what he'd make. All would be forgiven if the food was legit, right?! Sorry my dude. The fries were stale and the burger was extremely dry. I contacted the restaurant directly to try to resolve this before resorting to a bad review. They took my number but never called back. If they're not going to care enough to at least call me back, then I don't want them preparing my food. I noticed drinks were coming out slow. Staff would continually hide in the back and come out with nothing, leaving the bar staff-less. Mismanagement at its finest. But hey, I don't want to keep anyone from having a good time. If you'd like to wait an hour for your food and have it stale and dry when it arrives, this is the place for you! read more

The food is always perfect and now that they have domestics on tap, it's even better. Servers are always pleasant and attentive.

Not a bad place but I don't understand the price gouging. Just because you call yourself a brewhouse doesn't mean your beers need to be over priced. First thing I noticed is your house red lager (brewed by 50 west) is more expensive than your other 3 locations. Why overcharge at one location when all the others sell the same beer for $2 less. No wonder you're always running specials trying to get customers because your buisness model sucks. Nothing special here other than over priced beers and food. Managers are not friendly like other locations. Every time I have been there tables aren't cleaned when parties leave. Don't understand how a small chain can be so differently run. read more
