Sad that I have to come update my review after having such a great experience for the past two years with Ananda. I schedule my next grooming a month in advance each time and wasn't advised Ananda was no longer there until I arrived for my appointment in April. I was very hesitant to let someone new groom my dog but was assured the owner knew how to cut him the way I liked and that she wasn't going anywhere so he'd have a consistent groomer. I shared pictures of inspo and detail on how I wanted him cut but when I picked him up he looked nothing like what I asked. I didn't make a fuss and just figured maybe it was my direction. The second time I again shared what i wanted and referenced the photos also sharing what I didn't like from the previous experience. This time, he came out looking worse. His face looked like a lemur but with a double chin of hair. Again, super far off from what I expected and I was immediately unhappy. Not to mention, at this appointment they raised their price again for the 3rd time in less than a year. I paid, tipped and went home. The more I looked at my dog the more disappointed I was to where I had to put clothes on him to help the bad cut. Finally, I decided to message the groomer and express my disappointment and asked if she could fix it before our vacation the upcoming weekend. When I took him in, the energy was off. It was as if she wasn't upset with me for asking her to fix the cut she messed up on. No apology or anything. I knew at that moment he wouldn't be returning here. Very disappointed in my service after being a returning customer every single month for the past 2 years. And then, I hadn't cancelled my upcoming appointment yet but I received a text from Barkingham saying due to "unforeseen circumstances" they cancelled Rocky's next appointment lol he wasn't returning anyway (clearly) but it's the energy I was referring to as if I did something wrong by nicely and respectfully sharing my dissatisfaction with a service I paid $80 for. Again, just extremely disappointed that I even gave this business my money had I known that I would be treated this way for voicing that I didn't like how they cut my dog when it wasn't what I asked for. If this is how customers will be treated I definitely recommend taking your business elsewhere. It's not right. The owners response is odd. I'm glad I have screenshot photos to show her actual response with no apology or offer for corrective appointment. It was me asking for it. No apology was provided when I reached out and no apology was provided in person. When I brought him to his first appointment after Ananda left and I was made aware in that moment I was assured you as the owner knew exactly how to cut him and exactly what I liked. The owner assured me he was in good hands and she wasn't going anywhere. So this response is odd. And a different groomer is for a sure a better fit and that was already my decision to make. However, paying $80 for an uneven cut with my dog looking like a lemur wasn't going to suffice so I asked to just have him evened out all around. Pictures won't even show how he was all chopped up under his neck. 1 photo is before he was corrected after the terrible cut and it's clear he looks choppy and not like I asked. The photos the owner mentioned are "after" the corrective cut are from a previous grooming clearly because how did his fur magically grow back in all around his face? This is false advertisement and I never consented to having these photos taken or posted online. Again, as all potential clients can see none of the response was ever communicated to me in the texts of our communication shown or in person hence my review. I've referred a number of people to this establishment and will ensure I provide everyone an update on this experience. read more

Five stars won't justify how amazing Shannon is! I had been wanting to get my shih-poo groomed because her scratching from allergies has caused bad matting. After multiple failed attempts at shaving her, we gave up. I was hesitant to bring her to another groomer as both my dogs have had terrible experiences with the previous groomers they went to. They would always go in anxious and come out terrified & exhausted. I was scrolling through Yelp on Monday and chanced upon Barkingham Palace. I called to ask when their next availability would be. Shannon answered and, fortunately, she had an open spot for Wednesday. When I dropped off my pup, I knew Shannon was different. She took my pup in her arms and made sure she was comfortable. When I went to pick her up, I was surprised that she wasn't kept in a kennel. My pup was excited and full of energy! As soon as I got home, I called to schedule an appointment for my chihuahua-shih tzu and got one the following day. My chihuahua is a typical chihuahua, very feisty and protective. But for some reason, when my in-laws dropped her off, they said she warmed up to Shannon immediately, didn't fuzz, and didn't even bark. When I picked her up, she was super cozy in Shannon's arms and allowed her to give her extra pets even after she was handed off to me. I can now say that I have found the right groomer for my babies. read more

I've had my Maltese mix groomed at almost every place in Hendertucky. Sadly I was disappointed with the last two grooms at another place (near Von's) so checked with Yelp to find another option. Barkingham Palace had great reviews so I gave them a call. They were able to get me in the same day and I could tell from the phone conversation the owner, Shannon, loved fur babies. My husband took Bella to the appointment and texted me after drop-off that Shannon was really friendly and it seemed like a great place. 90 minutes later and Bella was ready for pickup. (Which was a nice change from some other places that take several hours, which means Bella is stuck in a cage as numerous dogs are being groomed at a time. And my Bella doesn't love being at the groomers to begin with.) Bella looked adorable (with a pretty feather & flower that matched her collar) and was very happy and not in the least bit stressed. And the groom was $10 less than her last place. I'm happy to recommend Barkingham Palace and Bella will definitely be back! read more

Ok folks! Now I love my fur babies and we rescue from the local shelters. I rescue specifically pitties and pitty mixes. I had just gotten my boy out of dog jail and he needed so serious TLC. I yelped this place and decided to give them a shot. They were really friendly. My dog was able to just roam til his turn and he was super happy and such a handsome boy afterwards. See for yourself. I gave 2 stars because truly, when we could get in here, they did great with our dogs. I should have given one star just based on the conversation I had on the phone with Wendy. My two dogs were scheduled for a grooming appointment this morning (7/7) at 7am. We unfortunately wrote the date for Thursday on our calendar which is 100% our bad, but tell me you haven't done the same thing before. We tried to call yesterday (7/6), to verify if the appointment was today or tomorrow but no answer. We left a couple voicemails and no call back was received. We decided to just trust what we had on the calendar and believe the appointment was for Thursday. We get a call at 11am stating we missed our appointment and their next available was for August 11th. Wendy was incredibly rude stating it's not her responsibility to look after our schedule and the Owner has the right to take a holiday weekend and not answer calls. I guess they were closed on 7/6 as an extended long weekend. I have never been spoken to like that by someone representing a company. She interrupted and wouldn't let me speak, I had to ask her permission to finish a sentence. I completely agree that a business has every right to take any extra off days they want, but why did the outgoing message not state that? Why did they wait until 4 hours after our appointment to call, rather than question why we didn't show up at our scheduled appointment time at 7? We live maybe 10 minutes down the road, we could have made it there in record time! Especially having left multiple messages stating we needed confirmation. I have worked in MANY scheduling based service industries, and It is not anyone's responsibility to look after the client, but it is your responsibility to look after the BUSINESS. We don't get reminder calls/texts of any fashion and actually getting through to someone is near impossible if you make a mistake like we did. Great grooming like I mentioned, but expect perfection from their clientele. Maybe hire someone that knows how to speak to long time Customers with respect rather than talk down to them and make them feel like an inconvenience when they make a mistake. read more

My rescue is an older little grumpy butt. She's great at home but humans and other doggies cause her high anxiety. Took her here today and they said she was out mingling and making friends. Which turned out to look like a bamboo's ass! Money is not a problem for me as long as you can get it right. Mariana is the right person to look for! She is patience and dog friendly. If you show her a pic or just even tell her the style , she can do it. I will never go anywhere else now that I found her. My dog is not very trusting of new people so I was a little worried that she may hate this place and think I was giving her away. Quite the opposite, when I arrived to pick her up today, to my surprise she was not stressed. She was extremely excited to see me but not at all wanting to rush TF out of the store. I am glad to learn that they will accommodate my dogs raw food diet, made her an ornament, and even sold me some of their extremely healthy Human Grade Chicken Breast dog treats, which are all natural!! We loved this place so much I already forgot what the other place we went to for the past 4 years. All the dogs that I encountered while dropping off and picking up my dog were extremely happy which means, they are literally loved and cared for. They talk to your dogs like you would and you know they are in not only SAFE but caring hands. Its EXTREMELY clean!!!! When I called to make an apt. Shannon was very accommodating and very pleasant. When we arrived to drop them off we were greeted with smiles witch made me feel comfortable. When we picked them up they were absolutely beautiful, happy, and calm. We were happy to see that they were not in cages and were free to roam around the place. I started taking my dog to Barkingham Palace a few 5 months ago. He was a rescue dog and not the friendliest dog to groom. But Buckingham Palace has a way of calming and loving on my dog to the point where he even now goes and plays with the other dogs in the shop. I have never seen him so calm and happy with anyone other than us. I've even let him stay in their boarding program and he did wonderful. They're great for all your grooming needs and your boarding needs. The owner really loves animals and you can tell from the first time you meet her. I originally enjoyed coming here to get my babies groomed. At first it was my little girl, then I brought my little boy. When I picked them up and got them into the car....the boy kept freaking out on me and I had no idea what his issue was. When we got home he kept licking his Penis. I didn't know what was his issue....then I looked and noticed he had a decent size nick and it was bothering him. Listen, I know this will happen, they are not human and don't always stay but when you nick a dog, it is painful and it would be helpful and professional if you were told. I gave 2 stars cause visit was great, the second, not so much. Unfortunately, this made me have to look for another groomer. I think the main problem is that Shannon is overloaded and needs to hire another groomer. read more
