Dulce, (which means sugar in Spanish), has an extremely happy and outgoing personality that is amazing. She is a love bug and smart and protective too, so she possesses great qualities. But there were some challenging behavioral issues that needed to be addressed. I Desperately wanted her to be able to come with me absolutely Everywhere as my Service Dog, but she was a bit (or a lot a bit, lol), too rambunctious, especially to take her to my doctor's offices and restaurants, etc. As my Service Dog she needed to be quiet and still. I was positively crying over it. I have instability issues when walking and I also suffer from PTSD, so she was to be a 2 for 1 Service Dog. Then I met Leri, (because of a purchase through Offerup of all places). She very generously said she would give my sweet girl a lesson, even though she predominantly teaches and shows Pit Bulls and other larger breeds in competitions, even Internationally! She is amazingly accomplished. I was very honored. She gave us several lessons, and Lots of homework to practice her techniques on our own, and the results were pretty quick and phenomenal ! Dulce now goes with me absolutely Everywhere, (except for operations). We have even been to the movies twice! You never know when the Universe brings you Exactly what and who you need. She has become one of our very most favorite humans ! Now that you know about Leri, it is Serendipity. You could not be in more capable and caring hands. All of us miss her and hope she thrives in her new country! I found Didi on Yelp when I accepted that I am, in fact, too lazy/occupied with babies to walk my dogs, even though I spend most of my time at home. I reached out to her about walking them a few times a week and she got back to me right away. We set up a time to meet and she ended up taking them on their first walk later that same day. For the next eleven months, Didi walked the bassets almost every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:30 to 1:15, dropping off Duke, the senior hound, at 1:00, then taking Milo on an extra jag to get out more of his naughty dog energy. She was always on time, always kind and communicative. The few times she had to miss a walk--for jury duty, or to get married, for example--she let me know far in advance. Our house has been pretty chaotic this last year, what with a fast-growing toddler and a new baby, and Didi was an enormous help. The dogs love her, and they got plenty of fun and exercise on their tri-weekly walks, even as their parents were occupied attending to human children. Didi also sent pictures from every walk, and she is a fantastic pup photographer. We were sad to say goodbye to her earlier this month, but are grateful for the time we had together (I'm sure the bassets would say so if they were more articulate). It was also nice of her to introduce us to a new dog walker before we even thought to ask--we were able to transition without the boys missing a day of exercise. Laura is amazing--Scarlet is really anxious and she barks all. the. time. However, after her initial excitement about getting to see Laura, Laura puts her magic touch on Scarlet, and Scarlet calms right down. When we leave Scarlet with Laura, it feels like we're leaving her with a trusted friend--it's clear that Laura loves dogs, and she will treat your pup like her own. We've also had Laura walk Scarlet for us on days when we're too crazy busy to make it home at a reasonable hour. On several occasions, Laura has saved us at the last minute when a late meeting pops up, and we realize that Scarlet is going to need attention before we can get home. We also had Laura groom Scarlet during her last stay, and she came home looking great! All in all, Laura offers high-quality pet care at a great price. It's that, for example, while watching my beautiful puppy, she noticed he had ear mites; after she dropped him back to me, Laura asked if she could continue to come check on his ears (free of charge) and give him the medicine he needed. Truthfully, I was nervous getting a puppy; I didn't believe, deep down, that, with my crazy work schedule and solo living status, I could train, feed, and pay appropriate attention to my little man (whose name just happens to be Cody). Laura has not only completely quelled my anxiety via training and regular visits (for a fraction of the price of these ridiculous dog training facilities that congratulate themselves for training border collies to spot shark fins...because that's what I want, obviously), but, she also managed to make my puppy fall in love with her. He gets so excited when he sees her that I, sometimes, feel bad separating them. Laura, for lack of a better way of putting it, is stuck with me (and Cody), and I couldn't wish a greater gift upon anyone else seeking any type of service(s) for his/her pet.

I found Ben while scouring Yelp for another option. My boyfriend was a little suspicious that I had hired a random person we had never met instead of a service that comes with insurance, but it turned out that Ben was much better than the insured service we had used before! It seems like he definitely checked on our cat every day and stayed to play with her while here. He would send my boyfriend picture messages of the cat to keep him updated. Bonus, Ben was also half the price Bark Ave. was charging. I know there are not a lot of reviews here yet, but I would definitely recommend Ben. Our experience is that he is really nice and trustworthy.

My husband and I travel frequently and Ben stays at our house (sometimes for weeks) with our two basset hounds and our cat. Ben is responsible for all the animals care (including giving our very old cat saline injections) and also for the care of our home and garden. The dogs are ecstatic whenever he arrives. Within seconds of his arrival, Ben is on the floor playing, hugging and scratching their bellies. He stays overnight at our home so that the animals are not alone. Having Ben at the house allows my husband and I to travel worry-free, knowing our pets are in the very best hands. We have used other good pet-sitters but Ben is in a league of his own.

She was a great employee, reliable and honest. Due to that, she was the 1st I reached out to care for my 2 dogs. She also came to babysit my 2 children. Everything was great until the last time she did overnights. My family went away for 1 week in Nov for a 50th wedding anniversary and I hired her to care for my dogs. My elderly dog has had recently had a stroke and was on multiple medications due to her condition. I never worried for a second while I was gone. However, when I returned from my trip I noticed many things were "off" in my home. One of them being all the beer in the house gone as well as beer caps under my sofa cushions, 2 of my new pans were scratched so badly I threw them away, I couldn't get the TV to work bc it had been completely rewired, new items were opened etc. I contacted Magda and asked if we could talk. I asked if she was the only one staying here. I also called and left a msg. She has yet to return a call, text or refund my money, that was 3 months ago. I ended up looking through days of camera footage and she was living here with a man who had no authorization to be here. (never met him) She also left him here by himself during the day. She barely walked my dogs. I'm just grateful they are ok. Now, I was more than willing to talk things through with her. I am literally shocked that this is the way a business owner would handle themselves. As I teach my 7 year old, if you do something wrong you talk it through and make it right. After helping run a dog walking company myself for 7+ years I dealt with many issues. It is not pleasant, however, you have to be willing to deal with the good and the bad when you own a business. I am not sure what changed with Magda, I would perhaps have been willing to talk it through however I was never given that opportunity.

He wanted to get to know us and our pup first, so we met up and had a chat about what our dog's personality and walking style is like. I thought our dog was quirky, but turns out Chris had experience with Shepherds and knew about their quirks already, which was reassuring for us first time Shepherd owners ;) Chris is always prompt and takes longggg walks with our pup to make sure she's nice and tired. He is respectful of our wishes of not running our dog since her breed is prone to hip/joint issues, and our dog is always glad to see him because she knows she's in for a treat! Chris will even send us pictures of the two of them on walks; I like that I can keep up with him on Instagram. He even pulled through for us on our wedding day and kept the dog busy for us so we could enjoy our Best Day Ever :) Chris is enthusiastic about every one of his canine clients, and that is commendable because dog walking is a lot of work! I see Chris out and about all over Newport, so he's always taking dogs to walk cool places, even if its blazing hot out! I would definitely recommend Chris and Newport Beach Active Paws!
