Long time customer here or was before I went to go pick up my white dog and Kim held him up to show me a bleeding hole on my dogs side. She told me I brought him in bleeding! My white 12 lb baby was cut while at Bark 5th and I wasn't informed until I walked in to get him. Not a call or anything! Kim told me I needed to get him to a vet ASAP. She said she was a NURSE and he needed care. WTH! She didn't even clean him up!! He was just dripping blood! 8 + years of going there and thats how she treats regulars...? Pathetic! Kim also has an attitude problem. Sometimes she is pleasant enough to deal with and other times she acts like you have ruined her day by coming into her business. She is just a rude and unpleasant person. There are other reviews of dogs being cut and her acting defensive and dismissive. Avoid at all costs!!. There are plenty of other groomers that won't slice your dog up and then blame you. read more

Good Haircut, but they are not super customer service focused. Several interactions were brusk and my wife came home with a well clipped dog and an attitude. Yelp says they close at 5pm, so my wife called to make sure that the 6pm pickup was ok... she got grilled about why she wouldn't look at their website directly. Nothing major, but when you pay $110 for a dog clip, you should have a positive experience and no friction. We are going to move to mobile grooming. read more

I am a long time customer who has been bringing my dogs here for many years. There is no place I've ever found that does a better job than Bark 5th. Kim and Brandon, along with the rest of the staff- are very kind, professional, and knowledgeable. The shop is very clean and the overall the environment is welcoming. I have 3 dogs who all go here for grooming, and as long as I have dogs, I will always take them here because I know they will be taken care of and have the cutest haircut possible when I come to pick them up. Kim and Brandon are the best groomers around.....kind compassionate and do an amazing job!... My older pomeranian always looked amazing when they were finished with him he also loved going to them as they treated him like their own!! Bark 5th Avenue is by far the best Pet Salon around! Kim and Brandon take such good care of my fur babies when they are there. It is fairly easy to get an appointment also. Whether it is Kim or Brandon doing the grooming, I have NEVER been less than 100% satisfied with the job that they did. I have been going there for several years and both of my dogs LOVE TO GO! They get so excited when I tell them that we are going to see Ms Kim and Mr Brandon! I recently was in the shop for an extended period of time and I was so pleased at the way each and every pet is treated as they either came into the shop or as they were being groomed. THANK GOD IT'S ONLY FUR!!! IT WILL GROW BACK. First time at Bark 5th Avenue. I don't think the woman taking the order (Kim) understood what a "Teddy Bear" style is. She or her son Brandon removed all his fur! No style whatsoever. Posted his pic. He's the pitiful black and white Peekapoo. They left some nails long too. Brought my own shampoo & conditioner because of his allergies. Kim said they wouldn't use the conditioner because it would make his cut uneven. Look at his pic. Really?? I told her he has bad allergies hence bringing our own shampoo & conditioner but he smells like baby powder. Either they used their own shampoo or sprayed him with cologne. Now he won't stop scratching and licking. He'll be miserable for weeks. Told her not shave him and he came home with his skin scraped on his belly. You can see his pink skin (irritated by the product they used) and bumps (he's old) since he practically has no fur left. He acts and looks so traumatized. We will never use them again. I don't think they know what they're doing. read more

I bought a Groupon for a groomer in Dilworth just to compare, and boy was I surprised at the dump that place was! I hesitated leaving my dog there and felt nervous for his whole appointment. We have been taking our dog Sadie here for nail trims for several years now, and I'd never go anywhere else! Sadie is an extremely nervous/anxious dog and after many failed attempts to have her nails trimmed else where, and the vet wanting to sedate her, someone recommended Kim. had been a customer for a number of years and from time to time I wasn't satisfied with the way my dog was groomed. Each time I get him home, I would look at him closely and call to let them know my dissatisfaction. The owner Kim and the groomer, Brandon would brush it off. At one time the owner agreed to no charge on his next grooming. Whenever, they had a new employee I was sure they allowed that person to groom my pet. I asked if the owner would allow only one groomer to groom him. Each time he would look totally different. They charge $45 and I pay them alone with a tip. I feel if I pay them for their services I should be satisfied with it. The last grooming was not satisfactory and I inquired and the groomer Brandon became upset. I told him that I felt he didn't groom my pet, and if he did he was falling off with his skills. He got into his feelings and started to become really sensitive. I apologized if I offended him. The call ended and I assumed all was well. When I called to set a new appointment I was told that they no longer would be able to groom my pet. That is their choice and I am fine with that. Thank goodness they aren't the only show in town. I am very disappointed that the owner Kim wasn't professional enough to speak with me about her employees'feelings and let me know her decision. Instead Brandon informed me and during the conversation we were disconnected. I called back and asked to speak with the owner, and another groomer started yelling and getting out of her lane. She became irate and I ended up hanging up before I made a trip up there. I said all of this to say, if Bark 5th. Ave. can't take criticism from paying customers then they should close their doors. It is never good business to think you can't make a mistake and be called on it. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this groomer to anyone. I've taken my Border Collie here twice and I've never been disappointed. He loves to get muddy and the red clay always stains his coat, but this place always gets him clean and smelling great! The staff is also very nice and they even squeezed in a bath for my pup when he decide to get especially dirty when playing. read more

Newly arrived in this area, we found this groomer nearby and made an appointment for our two small dogs (Cairn-Yorkie mix, 8 lbs; Maltese-Poodle mix, 22 lbs). The smaller dog is very claustrophobic and goes crazy when crated or caged. The groomers agreed not to crate the dogs. My spouse took the dogs to Bark 5th Avenue for a full grooming. The grooming was done by kids that were apparently apprenticing and the job was awful - not even a good trim, let alone a good grooming. The dogs still smelled dirty and when the small dog was put in a crate she could be heard going into panic mode from the waiting area. We reminded them that the dogs were NOT to be caged or crated. We paid for the full treatment and our dogs got a much less than satisfactory bath and not much more. We were very unsatisfied and will not return. read more

By far the worst groomer I ever went to. Had a sick dog who could only tolerate being at s groomer for about 2-3 hours. I went in before hand to talk to them when it would be best to bring him in. They scheduled a time, that would allow them to have him only for a couple of hours. 2.5 hours after I dropped him off, they had only washed him, nothing else. I showed up about an hour later and he was still on her table. Kim yelled at me and told me I could take him, he wasn't even done. I waited in the parking lot so I didn't upset me dog. He was there for about 5 hours, which my dog paid a price for later. My poor baby. She also way overcharged me. I would not recommend this place to anyone who loves their dog. We have been once before and the female groomer did a decent job on my 14 y/o male toy poodle. We went back a second time and without notice, our dog's grooming was left to an inexperienced older teen boy. I asked to speak to the groomer before the grooming to tell her what I wanted done but he said, "She's busy, but I'll write it down." No mention that she wouldn't be grooming my dog. When I picked him up, my poodle's ears, in which I've been growing for his entire life.. long and beautiful, were cut down to the actual ear! I asked what happened??!! He said, "You said 'half off the body.'" Any groomer with experience knows ears are NOT the body. And wouldn't he question cutting 2 inches off the ears? If I wanted that, I'd say, "Please cut his ear fur off, down to his actual ear." I was flabbergasted that he'd done that and was so upset and let them know my major disappointment. This kid was so young, he had no business grooming my dog if he had no experience. He just stood there.."oh, sorry." The owner said she was busy with another dog. Poor excuse! I took both of my small dogs to BFA at the suggestion of a co-worker. One of my dogs came home with longer fur in one side than the other. Her fur turns white as it gets longer so it was very obvious that one side of her was lighter than the other.....there is about an inch difference in length. The fur above her eyes was the same way......very long on one side, short on the other. I have trimmed her up the best I could as I will never return to this place of business. They got $100 of mine for one very average cut on one dog and a terrible cut on the other. Don't waste your money. read more
