The Dog Salon - Ready for Halloween

I have been so pleased with The Dog Salon! We have been taking our elderly dog here for some time…read morenow, and now they take care of our new rescue. Thank you, Rel!

Wanted to love this place SO BADLY, but I think they specialize in small dogs or poodle type dogs…read more(and short haired dogs). I will give 2 stars for how organized they are (when we arrived, the names of all the dogs and who is grooming them is on a white board and check-in is very easy). They were also very communicative prior to the appointment. Staff were all very nice. When I picked my dogs up after 3:5 hours and both were still a little bit damp. I noticed one dog had wet ears and a few knots behind her ears so I combed those out when we got home. Because she was damp upon pickup, she dried with her fur going all over. She is soft and fluffy though. My other dog, however, when I got home I noticed in the sun one area of his skin was super pink. I moved his fur back and noticed a whole patch of skin was raw. I'm not sure if they brushed too hard or with the wrong type of comb, but his skin was almost bleeding (the skin is a little broken in a few areas). The rest of his body seems fine but this one patch is raw which has never happened before. We just moved here so finding a new groomer and vet has been my biggest stressor. I know large dogs can be REALLY hard, but we had an amazing groomer back home so I know it can be done. They seemed to be doing great with the small shih-tzus and poodles and such, so I think if you have that type of dog, you would be okay.

A few months ago the owner started having this girl in there who looked like she was on drugs, and would bring her small children to work with her. IT was also very dirty. There was always hair and wet towels all over the floor. I felt really uncomfortable leaving my dog with her. The last time I look my dog the owner, Sarah, was back and everything was fine. Last month I called three times in a week and left a message requesting an appointment. No one ever called me back. I also posted on their Facebook with no reply. I don't know if they are closed, or just don't care about their customers anymore, but my dog won't be going back there anymore. They've become very unprofessional. It's sad because they had good prices, and used to do good work.

I started taking our two little poodle mixes to Pawsatively Purrfect back in May 2012. The first…read moretwo times the dogs looked fine and Sarah seemed to genuinely care about her work. The third time my husband took them in, there was another girl there who looked unkempt and actually asked my husband what he had been charged the last time. She seemed totally out of it. Now we can't get anyone to answer the phone to even discuss the remote possibility that we would take the dogs there. We would only consider it if Sarah was the actual groomer. I think they must be out of business because they clearly don't care about scheduling appointments or keeping existing customers. I won't be taking my dogs there again.

Rebecca at Wolfgang in South Park Charlotte has groomed our dog Frasier a few times. The first time…read moreit was an amazing experience and after that, it was OK. But this last time was awful. I expressed when he came into the salon that he had some matting and I was very understanding if she needed to trim him a little closer, but he really only had matting in a couple areas. I told her I trusted her to use her discretion. But I expressed I still want him to be fluffy and I would appreciate that and if she needed anything or had To please reach out to me as I was available at any time. When I got my dog back, it's always chaos in there as he's super excited to see me and jumping and of course you pay prior to them bringing your dog out, so I paid and tipped heavily. When I saw him, he looked pretty bad, but she said he had to have more taken off because of the matting, but it really wasn't that bad. I'm pretty honest about it. anyways, I get home and get a chance to really look at him and he has razor burn and no hair on his entire chest where by the way he had no matting at all on his tummy or belly or genital region. Not to mention that the haircut overall was very bad as you can see a couple of the paw pictures like what is that. So he had razor burn from the top of his chest down to his groin and a massive cut in the side of his chest. I can't imagine how uncomfortable he must have been because that happens when they don't use different clippers, and continue to use the same clippers on a dog for over probably a long period of time in that period of time they heat up and get very hot to the touch and she also was probably ripping his hair out, and burning him. Like this is abuse. My husband got in touch with them immediately to which they weren't being very accommodating and so he asked to speak to the owner. We have left over four messages and I've tried to get in touch with the owner to get our money back and a apology. Nonetheless, they have never gotten in touch with us and I never do this, but for the first time, I am going to post these images and say do not go to the salon. It is completely unacceptable that they would allow such abuse to an animal in their care. We were so offended after being a good client for a while and I can't believe how we were treated by Rebecca and how well we tipped her and for her to blow us off and treat us like this is completely awful. Do not trust this place try and find someplace else as we will never ever take our sweet baby Frasier there again. And I still demand that we should be refunded our money in total.
