I recently visited Baristello with my bud Hoang-Khai and I enjoyed a fantastic latte. As Italian caffe's go.... this is the real deal and I'm not the only one who noticed since this small establishment was packed to the brim on a early Sunday morning. They also have a nice selection of crustless sandwiches and baked goods, ideal for breakfast/brunch/lunch all at very reasonable rates. Seating can be a little difficult with so many people but I'm sure you'll find a way to enjoy their delicious coffee. That being said, not ideal as a place to study, not a whole lot of seating room and it was quite loud. Staff is super friendly and competent. This place has recently opened and they're super motivated and happy. The quality of what they offer is immensely evident. Will definitely make an effort to come back.

Grabbed an oat milk latte, one pistachio and one Nutella filled donuts. C$16.10 / $11.50 The Nutella and pistachio cream transferred to the top of the to go box. The pistachio cream is light and sweet, it's not bad. Can't say I have ever had pistachio butter much, but seemed sweeter than I had expected. The Nutella is decadent and yummy, as expected. The dough was super light, airy, yet a bit chewy. The dough was good, carb worthy for sure. Not dense or heavy at all. I actually ate all of the dough, that's a good sign of a donut. Don't bother cutting the donut, ends up being a total mess. Just bite into it and eat it up.

Luckily this moved fast. The menu options are simple, there are a few types of pizzas that you can get by the slice (square) or whole. There a couple donut options, cannolis, chocolate chip cookies and croissants - along with coffee of course. Prior to coming, I saw pictures and reviews of sandwiches at this location - but there were none when I went. Perhaps there is a varying menu or special items that vary during the year? We tried 3 types of pizzas, the sausage and rapini, caprese and "Caciocavallo" which is a potato and cheese pizza with no tomato sauce. They were all excellent, with lots of toppings and satisfying bite feel. The crust is kind of like a foccacia bread, it is chewy and delicious. There is very limited bar seating inside the restaurant, otherwise during spring/summer time there is an outdoor terrace with a few tables. Still a pretty tight spot, best to grab and go if you can as the place seems very popular.

As someone who is currently sporting a 'stache, I identified with its aura. A couple days later, we were looking for some coffee - and since I could not get this place out of my mind I suggested we go here, so off we went. Moustache Cafe is one of several coffee shops located in this area of the city. Walking in, it gave off typical coffeehouse vibes - an ordering counter with a variety of bakes on display, a mixture of seating types, and people either working, studying, or chatting while enjoying their brews. The decor is kinda bright, with splashes of color (and moustaches) throughout. We weren't hungry, so I just decided to browse the beverage menu. The usual selections were there, and I decided to go with a cappuccino. The beverage was good - nothing too outstanding to be honest, just a good cappuccino. I did appreciate that they served it in a ceramic mug as I indicated I would be staying. Service was good, and overall I had a great experience at Moustache Cafe. I didn't find the drinks to be out of the ordinary compared to other coffeehouses I've been to, but solid goods nonetheless. That, along with the cool aesthetics and moustaches make this a standout for me.

This place exudes classic Italian cafe with baristas cranking out espresso behind a marble counter. The people here skew older with a mix of French, Italian, and other types of European. Service is friendly and quick. The cappuccinos are poured skillfully and beautifully like a practiced performance. And just as beautifully as they are poured, they go down smooth and are a perfect balance of creamy and earthy. Unlike most cappuccinos that I've had that are too milky and sweet, Cafe Italia knows how to make a cappuccino with at least half part cream while maintaining the taste of espresso. I'm mad that I won't get another cappuccino like this again unless I go to Italy or come back to Montreal. Why did Starbucks have to ruin the cappuccino for us all. I'll be dreaming about this cappuccino for another few months.

Post-pandemic tip: while you're waiting in line for brunch, grab a latte here! We each got large lattes. I had never tried a pumpkin spice latte before and they confirmed that they use real pumpkin.
