During my first day in Montreal, I walked by Moustache Cafe and was instantly intrigued - not for…read morethe aesthetics, but for the name. As someone who is currently sporting a 'stache, I identified with its aura. A couple days later, we were looking for some coffee - and since I could not get this place out of my mind I suggested we go here, so off we went. Moustache Cafe is one of several coffee shops located in this area of the city. Walking in, it gave off typical coffeehouse vibes - an ordering counter with a variety of bakes on display, a mixture of seating types, and people either working, studying, or chatting while enjoying their brews. The decor is kinda bright, with splashes of color (and moustaches) throughout. We weren't hungry, so I just decided to browse the beverage menu. The usual selections were there, and I decided to go with a cappuccino. The beverage was good - nothing too outstanding to be honest, just a good cappuccino. I did appreciate that they served it in a ceramic mug as I indicated I would be staying. Service was good, and overall I had a great experience at Moustache Cafe. I didn't find the drinks to be out of the ordinary compared to other coffeehouses I've been to, but solid goods nonetheless. That, along with the cool aesthetics and moustaches make this a standout for me.

Lucky for us that we have Moustache cafe to fill us up with the largest glass of latte that will warm even the coldest of hearts! I really like the abundance of plants and the overall atmosphere was perfect for a hangout with friends! I have to mention that their delicious vegan and gluten free house made Oreo cookies were the perfect accompaniment to my ginormous macadamia latte!

More coffee in Montreal (2 of 2)…read more I have driven or walked past this place each and every time I've been to Montreal, which is quite a lot, and have vowed to go in. I finally made it to Caffe' Italia! Like many other neighborhoods in Montreal, their fabric is changing and that of Little Italy is no exception. In fact, as is the case in the GTA, the "real" Little Italy in Montreal is in Saint-Leonard while the real one in the Toronto area is way out at Woodbridge in Vaughan! Those areas have Italian populations of 40% and 44%, respectively, per some tallies I saw from surfing the web. These things are important to me because I want to go into a place that will make me laugh, even if it's laughter of the "cat ate the canary" variety. As the name implies, most people are here to have some rendition of coffee - from the high octane small cups to the more complicated bigger ones. I didn't see much standing up at the counter while having an espresso activity yet, at Versailles Cuban in Miami, there is the stand-up crowd. The locals at Caffe' Italia are doing it while seated and socializing. People are also having things to eat. I had one of the popular stuffed panini, which was my lunch. It was very good. That's what I came in for. The menu is on display up above the bar. The service is expedient and to the point. They will not be holding your hand. The people watching will deliver. Many of the customers are probably here regularly and have deep Italian(-Canadian) roots. It will be different than a cafe' in Italy where, even while doing the coffee thing, there is a modicum of a poseur affect. Here, the affect is crusty. These folks are not worried about fashionable apparel or being discreet as they follow the news or sports on the televisions inside. Though not planned, I happened to be here during the FIFA World Cup event, so the timing was perfect. I had two Italian cafes' on my list - this one and Caffe' San Simeon. I had parked by nearby Caffe' San Simeon and it looked too new and too hip for the experience I was looking for. I was glad that I came here to Caffe' Italia where the "Gino alert" sounds off the minute you walk into the cafe,' meaning it's the real deal.

There is hand sanitizer by the door. We went for a morning walk and stopped in for some lattes. We had been here before when visiting le vieux vélo for brunch. Post-pandemic tip: while you're waiting in line for brunch, grab a latte here! We each got large lattes. I had never tried a pumpkin spice latte before and they confirmed that they use real pumpkin. It was overpowering in taste of pumpkin, but the spices were present. I wished the milk was hotter. Latte art was beautiful!

You can also purchase many different coffee beans at a reasonable price. Pricing: The pricing and drink list is very good price for quality and quantity. Overall: Cafe Odessa is a cafe that I will be visiting again because I'm just so pleased with everything that they provided me with. I really want to try their cappuccino next time!
