My daughter and I traveled to TX and this was one place we had to check out based off of reviews. The parking lot did get a little crazy. People were blocking other vehicles in. The restaurant is older but cute. Our waiter was very pleasant. Wait time was short. I had mozzarella sticks and spaghetti with meatballs. They give you a basket with bread as well. All I can say was that everything we had was very good! The prices were amazing. I definitely recommend this place. Get there early so you get a good parking spot! read more

We were looking for a Italian place in Waco and this looked good according to yelp. This is a locally owned restaurant that had solid Italian food. Don't expect high end quality but it was very good when you consider the price. We ordered a couple of slices of the Everything pizza, a dish of baked tortellini, their pasta sampler, and a couple of salads. The place was packed at the time so we were wondering about how long it would take. The waitress helped us quickly and our food was there at no time at all. Dinner was served with freshly baked rolls which are huge and good. For dessert we ordered a cannoli. All of it was good but we especially enjoyed the tomato based house salad dressing. It definitely seemed like it was home made, along with everything else we tried. If we are in Waco again looking for Italian, we will visit here again. One thing to note if you enjoy wine with your Italian, the restaurant serves no alcohol but is BYOB. read more

The melty mozzarella cheese and the meaty marinara with creamy pink sauce, need I say more? The massive garlic bread rolls that you get before your food are tasty as well, but make sure you don't fill up on those rolls or you won't have any room for your delicious pasta. Yes, as everyone has pointed out, the parking situation is less than desirable but I would deal with it every day if it meant I could eat Dee's special with pink sauce. Absolutely the best Italian food we've every had. We eat here or take out every other week. We've loved every dish but tend to gravitate toward our favorites. Mine is the spinach or the veggie calzone (huge enough for 2 meals and with a fabulous Italian sauce). My husband likes the sampler, my daughters like the Chicken Alfredo (real chunks of chicken and a terrific creamy sauce) or the white pizza, and we all love the rolls. We often order extra rolls. You will love this place and if you are lucky, you might get to meet Mama Baris, who is usually at the checkout or at the table next to the drink machine. read more

First place in Waco for the TCU game. When your girlfriend wants Italian and desires nostalgia she end takes you to Baris. When it was decided that we would not share a pizza, I had to go for the Chicken Parm! I also ordered a coffee. Baris isn't FINE dining, but it is fine dining. I took a look from her when she saw I ordered coffee because she desired Common Grounds, but I denied her this pleasure until after the shellacking of Baylor. The Chicken Parm arrived, it just hit the spot, like food coma and deliciousness. She ordered the lasagna and it looked delicious, but her report was a heavy dose of ricotta and I am just not that kind of guy. I want BEEF, mozzarella and spared use of ricotta, but that stopped me from stealing a bite. And then you get served with an inexpensive bill! read more

Amazing food for a great price! My fiancé and I were driving back home to Austin from a cycling race in Oklahoma and stopped here for a quick bite to eat. Easily one of the best Italian places we've eaten at (and we've eaten a lot lol)! He had the spaghetti with Italian sausage and it was tangy and delicious sauce on top of perfect al dente noodles. I had the Murphy dinner special which was a perfect blend of spices, peppers, artichokes and sauce! Seriously, usually I have to add pepper to most dishes I get from restaurants but this was perfect as is. The portions are nice size and even though we live in Austin we both decided to take our leftovers with us. I'm looking forward to the next cycling event in (or that takes us through) Waco so we have another reason to come here and eat! read more

I have been a big fan of Baris's for quite some time but lately, not so much. The food is still good but the service has been really lacking on my last two visits. On two consecutive call-in orders our orders have been wrong. We specifically ask that we only want the sauce for the Shrimp Diablo and to leave off the pasta. We make our own pasta at home because we use whole grain pasta and they don't serve whole grain. Both orders had pasta when we got it home. The very next time we ordered, we emphasized what went wrong the last time and to please leave out the pasta this time. This time the pasta was left off, but there was only about 2 tablespoons of sauce in my order. I said then that I'm done with Baris's. As good as they are I can't trust their service anymore. Also, they refused to refund or credit me with a replacement order unless I drove back with the wrong order. read more

Hands down one of my favorite restaurants in Waco because their complimentary rolls (free with entree purchase) and pink sauce are absolute perfection! Pro tip: order a side of pink sauce for the rolls. My favorite thing to order is the Chicken Florentine because it's a pink sauce dish and is a big enough portion for 3 days of food depending on how much you eat so it's definitely worth the money. Four stars for sometimes feeling dirty and for having the worst parking lot in Waco. Park at the vet a few doors down or at the car wash after it has closed. All the of the Baylor students rave about this place (because they have no taste) so I had to try. I've been to Baris 4 times trying to be optimistic by ordering something different each time. Everything made me sick except for the free bread (you can't really mess up plain bread). Last time I came here I got food poisoning. Never coming here again. Go to Moroso instead. Moroso is the best Italian in Waco, but that's not saying a lot. read more

I didn't care for the house dressing, which tasted like French dressing mixed with salsa. It was spicy and was weird. The rolls they gave you before your meal were amazing. They were soft, delicious, and home made. The baked ziti tasted amazing. I ordered Shrimp and lemon Buttered noodles with white wine and capers. It was good, but runny. The noodles were homemade.
