Went here on a thursday night to catch Rangers first Stanley Cup playoff game. Its not a hockey bar, they play all sort of sports, but the tvs are small and i had a feeling it was more of a baseball bar than hockey. I asked them to switch one of the Tvs to hockey and they were more than happy to, Inside there is a pool table and they play a good selection of 80's and 90's music. They have a couple of booths and then its bar stools and bar seats. Service was good but could have been better. Food was very good for a bar, we ordered the Chicken tenders which were delicious along with a beef stew and fish and chips. We would recommend all of them. Came here one night after work with friends and had a good time until we were all leaving and the blonde bartender had the audacity to send one of her friends to confront us about not tipping enough. This is hands down one of the best bars in the city to catch a few beers after work with your friends. I come here at least once a week- usually after work, but during a slow day their lunch deal is unbeatable. It's usually not crazy busy, they have an EXCELLENT happy hour which goes until 8pm unlike most bars, a very well kept pool table (pretty sure they re-felt it at least twice a year), and the everything on the menu is delicious. No, it's not fancy, it's not gourmet, and if you're coming here for high-end cocktails you've come to the wrong place. What it is is an everyman's bar with lots of TVs, good food, good company, and good prices. This place truly embodies the spirit of Bukowski, so the name could not be any more fitting. Long. Live. Depending on how you look at it, Barfly is either confused or has all the makings of a good bar: large flat screen for sports, divey scene, Irish pub feel, and offers decent American dishes. I stopped here to catch the World Series and was pleasantly surprised they had a few good screens (smaller ones had Monday Night Football and the larger one had the World Series) and they turned on the volume for the World Series which is always a plus for a sports bar. The bar was not crowded which was also a plus because they had only one server who was fairly attentive. I ordered the fried chicken which was golden crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Yup - it was perfect with my IPA. The mash and gravy were fairly ordinary but did the job. Barfly is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area and want to step out to a decent all in one dive bar, Irish pub, sports bar, and restaurant. read more

Comfortable place to watch the game, grab a drink, play pool, hang with friends while doing all of the above. This place does serve food, but it's very average bar fare, which quite honestly I don't think I will be partaking in ever again. They have good happy hour specials, went for lunch and drinks were good, food not so much. My salmon burger came with the patty on a plain roll, a pickle on the side of the plate. Typical sports bar with with typical bar food. Nothing really stood out other than the pool table if you are into that sort of thing. Plenty of booths and tables if you don't want to sit at the bar. Some outdoor seating on the street rather than on the avenue, which is a plus. People of all ages, young and old. I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was decent. It was pretty relaxed on a Weds night around 7p. Good place to have a conversation where you don't have to yell to the person next to you. Don't know how it is on the weekends. There are 11 teevees in this bar. Eleven TVs. If that doesn't do it for you, they have Tiffany-style lamps and a tin ceiling. The best place to sit is on the short side of the bar, parallel to 3rd Avenue and immediately to your left as you walk in the door. It's raised a step or two above the rest of the room, so that you don't immediately realize how tall Mike the bartender is. It's where the Megatouch used to be before they moved it (now it's right by the bathroom). It feels kind of like sitting in a jury box. I've only been here twice but have had good experiences both times. I came here once to watch football, and have no complaints and then the last time I came here, was for Santacon, which was equally as great. We got to the bar at around 11:30 am to start our hours of day drinking and there obviously was no one there yet. Being that it was santacon and also a blizzard outside, we set up shop. We snagged a table and literally sat there for 8 hours. The waitresses were great all day. We just ordered pitchers after pitchers of bud light for the $10 deal and split between 7 or 8 of us, it was barely anything at the end of the day. We also got food there, which was your typical bar food fare..but still tasty after a few beers. I'd say around 2 pm is when the bar started to really get crowded and full of santas. The floor also turned into about 2 inches of gray slush by the end of the night. Still, our waitress was awesome and kept up with us the entire day, even with the hoards of wet, drunk santas. The only problem is that there are only 2 bathrooms, one for girls, one for dudes and they are single bathrooms only. So if you have to go to the bathroom, you better get on line before it's an emergency. I'd definitely come back here again for a day drinking extravaganza or to watch football (they have DIRECTV NFL Sunday Ticket and a lot of tvs to watch all of the games) or just to have a casual night out at the bar. Came here for the Patriots game and it's a nice little sports bar in Gramercy. The interior was decorated with a lot of lights and festive decor and it's your typical bar setup. We had an order of the nachos and it was actually pretty tasty. I like that it had refried beans on it. Most of the nachos I have gotten only have the black beans or pinto beans on them, but the refried beans were really good and added a nice smooth texture along with the guac. The flavor of all the toppings were good. The only thing I didn't prefer were the type of chips, They use the thicker chips which I think actually hold well for nachos because they don't break as easily and they don't get as soggy, but they just taste pretty oily, but this is just personal preference. For dinner, I ended up getting the fish tacos, I think that whatever sauce they put inside the taco was good because it had a nice sweet, and tangy contrast and it came with a meh salad on the side. The reason I haven't rated them higher is just that it's just your typical bar food and nothing I had really stood out to me. I like the atmosphere though and I would probably come back to watch a game and snack on some nachos. read more

Uhm, so this is a typical bar/pub in new york. NOTHING special about it at all. With that being said, the service is absolutely atrocious. I ordered a quesadilla and a bunch of beers for my friends. I asked if I could have it without zucchini, but the waitress said that it all comes pre-prepared. Ok, fair enough. 15 minutes later we get the beers... about 45 mins later I'm getting antsy and I'm starving! I ask about my quesadilla, waitress says 2 more minutes. From the time I ordered to getting my UBER simple, pre-prepared quesadilla an entire hour had gone by. Why in the world does it take an hour to make a quesadilla!? Mind you - it was tasty, not great, not bad. Just tasty. Or maybe that was because I was ABSOLUTELY STARVING by the time I got it. 2 stars it is, my friend. If you're popping in and sitting at the bar and expect nothing else, I guess you're alright. My new favorite neighborhood bar. Small corner place with a pool table and juke box. Always seems to be action going on the pool table. They get a good mix of regulars and people out grab a quick beer or to watch the game on the many TVs. Always the local games on and they have been accommodating to put on what you want to watch if it isn't on. Happy hour prices are great and they last until 8pm. I have only had the 'bar food' so far and it has been very good and very reasonably priced. All the bartenders I've had have been extremely friendly. It's definitely a regular watering hole of mine from now on. read more

The lunch special is certainly worth it. Burger fries and a beer or beverage of your choice. The main reason I ended up here was because a coworker wanted to shoot a quick came of pool. The pool table is cool but in an awkward location too close to the kitchen area and too close to other tables. They have a lot of entertainment to offer you such as the multiple tv screens, jukebox megatouch, (a dying breed in bars), pool table, etc. Can't really comment on the food because I always make it here when the kitchen is close. However, if you're really hungry and ask nicely the bartender will give you a menu of the nearest diner and will allow you to eat there. Not a lot of places will let you do that. Great no frills bar for happy hour with solid bar food which is affordable and served by friendly staff. $2 and $3 beers from 11 or 12 till 8pm Monday to Friday is a great deal and the place also has a small outdoor seated area for those warm days. Kind of cozy, as laid-back and unpretentious as NYC can get. My former boyfriend and I happened upon it one night (stopped there because there was an empty parking spot on the street right in front of it and we really wanted to watch the game!). Typical bar food (don't order a 'chicken cutlet' though...was actually pleasantly surprised with their grilled chicken caesar salad (but then again, I order caesar salads w/o dressing, so I guess I'm not the best person to ask...) Strong drinks, nice bartender, but in all fairness, my ex was NYPD and apparently a lot of cops drink there, so maybe they were a little biased :) We went back several times and always had a good time. Went here with a friend to grab lunch and watch some Sunday football. The bartender, Jen, was super friendly. This is some of the best bar food I've ever had. The Southwestern chicken wrap is delicious and the rosemary french fries were super yummy. I don't think I've ever seen such great presentation for bar food. Two people walked in after us and ordered the Southwestern chicken wrap so it must be one of the more popular items on the menu. Skip the nachos--my friend got them and I didn't think there was a lot of them for the price. Plus, my sandwich and her nachos cost the same price--$10 each. My husband and I love this bar, although I am sure he would give it five stars. It is a great atmosphere, the staff is nice and attentive, and the food is great. I recommend you try the mac and cheese for sure! It is always a great time and it is never too crowded - unless its St Patty's Day or the Superbowl.
