If you have a priceless family heirloom or a piece of fine jewelry that requires absolute perfection, J Patch Designs by Karen is the only place in New York City you should trust. I brought in my late father's century-old, solid gold Masonic ring to be resized up to fit my finger. Because the ring features an incredibly delicate, heat-sensitive vintage black onyx stone, a standard jeweler's torch could have easily cracked it. Cliff looked over the piece and immediately guaranteed he would execute a specialized, high-tech precision laser weld. Not only did he resize the thick band flawlessly with an invisible seam, but he also performed an absolutely razor-sharp, custom one-line laser engraving inside the shank to commemorate my own Master Mason milestone (MM 5-2-81). The mirror-polish finish he delivered brought the historic gold back to its full, brilliant glory without losing any of its vintage character. To top off an already perfect experience, the customer service was warm, honest, and completely professional. Cliff even walked me through the care process and provided a complimentary bottle of liquid jewelry cleaner. As a high-volume content creator reviewer with over 16 + million views , I inspect businesses with a very strict eye--and J Patch Designs easily earns the highest recommendation possible. Thank you, Cliff and Karen, for treating my family's history with such immense respect! You made my day!!! Once again thank you!! I normally don't give 5 Stars.

I came to these folks because they are nearby and I needed several things fixed- I wanted my gold…read moreplated chain fixed as a link broke, a watch battery replaced, and most importantly a pet pendant containing a beloved dog's ashes resized (the chain part). Everything came back perfect. All adjustments were done to specification, and they were smart enough to adjust the length of my bracelet from both sides instead of just from one like I had asked, which keeps the pendant more centered. I also noticed my gold plated chain came back even more shiny and gold so I don't know if it was re-plated or just polished and cleaned but I love it. Great job! And I believe I spent only about a $100 for all three things which was extremely worth it. Turnaround was about a week and they had a good process to set up the pickup to ensure no one can just take your jewelry.

I contacted customer service and spent a significant amount of time going back and forth with them through their chat. The problem is that their chat is extremely slow, with 30+ minutes sometimes passing between responses. I was able to communicate with them, but only by sitting around waiting for each response, making it a very frustrating and impractical way to resolve an issue. They agreed to fix the bracelet but would only cover $100 of return-shipping insurance, despite the bracelet being worth significantly more and having sentimental value. They refused to cover the additional insurance I had originally paid for. I ultimately suggested receiving store credit for the insurance cost, which they agreed to, but the issue still went unresolved. Months later, the bracelet is still unwearable. I recently reached out again and, once again, have received no response through the chat. Mistakes happen, but the company policy to not match insurance value and the lack of functional customer service have been disappointing & gave more frustration than it's worth. I gave 2 stars because I did have two other previous items that were completed without issue. You just have to hope nothing goes wrong.

I walked into Gennaro Jewelers needing my tennis necklace repaired and walked out with not only a…read morenecklace that looked brand new, but a solution to something that had been bothering me for the longest time. I genuinely cannot say enough good things about my experience here! From the moment I walked in, Eric was welcoming and thorough. He took the time to inspect my necklace and explain what needed to be fixed. I was then brought downstairs, where I got to sit and watch Herman work on my necklace up close on a TV screen. I could see every little detail of the repair as it was happening, which was fascinating! While I was downstairs, Courtney came over and started explaining everything to me. At this point, I felt like I was on a little excursion tour and I was loving every minute of it! She shared how Herman got his start in jewelry repair when he was just 9 years old in Ecuador and how he's spent years perfecting his craft. Watching him work while hearing his story made me appreciate the craftsmanship that much more. My necklace was repaired, cleaned, and polished to absolute perfection. But here's where my experience got even better. While I was downstairs, Diana complimented me on my necklace and the diamond earrings I was wearing. What she didn't know was that those earrings had been driving me CRAZY for the longest time. Because of their size and weight, they would constantly tilt downward instead of sitting beautifully on my ears. It's such a small thing, but when you have beautiful earrings, you actually want people to SEE them! Diana asked what kind of backings I was using. I told her screwbacks, and she smiled and told me to come find her upstairs when I was finished. Well, I did, and she pulled out these jumbo-sized screwbacks and said, "Let's see if these work." She cleaned my earrings, had me try them on with the new backings, and I kid you not, I got emotional LOL. My diamonds were FINALLY sitting upright and looking the way they were supposed to! She jokingly called them the "magic bra" for earrings, which honestly couldn't have been a more accurate description. SOLD! I walked in for a necklace repair and somehow walked out with a problem solved that I hadn't even come in to address. All because Diana was observant enough to notice something and thoughtful enough to offer a solution. That to me is exceptional customer service. Before I left, Eric inspected my necklace one more time and even gave me some helpful advice on how to properly lay and store it to avoid future stretching or breaks. What really stood out to me was how genuinely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful everyone was. Nobody was trying to sell me something I didn't need. They were simply passionate about what they do and took the time to make sure I was happy. I left Gennaro Jewelers absolutely elated. Between Eric, Courtney, Herman, and Diana, what could have been a simple jewelry repair turned into such a memorable experience.

So not only did I need two pairs to speak to me, I needed them to go with most, if not all, of my outfits. No joke, I've literally been on the hunt for over a year. So after walking by for months, I found time to go in. It is such a cute store and the lady behind the desk was so nice. I was the only one in and she welcomed me so sweetly. I told her about my hunt for earrings, and she understood and just let me browse. And lo and behold within minutes I found them. They were a beautiful asymmetrical gold lotus set. I got so excited, but I kept looking because, hey, maybe I can find another pair to go with them (because once you find one pair, you're kind of limiting yourself to style). And yea, I found them. The cutest diamond stud earrings. You guys, I had literally been on this search for a year and I found them in just a few minutes in this store. So, your style may not be as casual as mine, but don't worry, they have different styles in there too. The rings...I love rings. I love the idea of them (because again, lazy) and they had some really beautiful pieces in there as well. They also have a large price range, so you might just find the pieces you're looking for. They have many pieces, like mine, that are well under $100, as well as engagement-type rings over $10K. A few months after my purchase though, my beautiful lotus fell out. I went back into the store to tell her, and she remembered the style as well as the jeweler. She quickly found out that the jeweler still makes them! Thank god, because, I cannot be on that hunt again. It was really painless to do a special order (you have to put 50% down when you do those) and she was really thorough in explaining when they'd come in and will shoot me an email. Overall: cute store with unique pieces curated by lovely people.
