I live in Captains Cove and have 4 vehicles so the 2 that are not in our driveway stay out in the white unmarked parking area. The problem has been that the security patrol people for the company Come by at all sorts of unscheduled Times and supposedly if the vehicle stays in the same spot the left or right tire will receive a chalk mark. If the vehicle isn't moved upon the subsequent patrol then the car front windshield receives a ticket. The problem with the security service is that if u use the car and come back placing it in the same spot the Barbier agents cannot tell if the car has been moved n will indiscriminately give u a ticket. The vehicles being ticketed are targeted as my wife left her car for 3 days over x mass n didn't even get a Mark and one of our other neighbors left his small black sedan ( with stickers all over it for almost 2 days without a tire mark or ticket.. The Barbier agents are scared to death of confrontation and scurry away quickly if u catch one hawking ur vehicle! The company needs to revise it's guidelines n have regular scheduled patrols , not haphazard whenever they feel and take a Pic of every car parked in a spot with date n time so that other subsequent agents cannot tell look at the exact time n not indiscriminately give a ticket at less that 15 hours. Also if I car does not have a marked tire there is no reason why a ticket should be rendered like for me on New Year's Day ! The parking rules are draconian and need an overhaul plus a waiver for families with more than 2 vehicles read more

This company's employees are unprofessional, aggressive, and try to enforce traffic laws they themselves break. A security guards job is the observe and report, and deescalate a situation. Instead this guy escalated, threatened me with pepper spray and blocked my vehicle from moving. This is false imprisonment under California Penal Code Section 236. He even threw his glued on cloth badge at me after I told him that I would sue him for threatening with pepper spray. All while I was more than 20 feet away from him standing next to my car. read more

Literally patrol because they don't do anything else. I thought security should make us feel secure. Bad Experience I went to the Marin Health and Human Services last week and had my son and mom who is disable. The female security guard inside didn't bother to help us with the door. Once inside we wanted to ask a simple question and she didn't even notice we were there, she was too busy with her earphones on and watching videos in the computer. As a Marin county native and local small business owner its very nice to see the professionalism that Barbier Security applies to working in our community. My first experience with Barbier Security was at my apartment complex in Mill Valley. It was after midnight and I had locked myself out of my apartment! On site management had long since gone home and I was faced with the prospect of having to roust a locksmith. Luckily, a phone call to Barbier Security brought their patrol car to my front door within ten minutes. The guard let me into my apartment and even offered to help me unload my groceries! The other day, while walking into the Trader Joe's in the Montecito shopping center I observed one of their guards helping an elderly lady to cross the crosswalk; and on my way out I saw the same guard competently helping to diffuse what could have become an ugly confrontation between two motorists. I made a point to complement the guard on his actions. Most recently I have seen Barbier Security in action at the H1N1 vaccination at the Marin Community Clinic in San Rafael. There were thousands of people present and all things considered the event was pretty efficient. Their performance at that event confirmed my previous experience. In a field that has to deal with mostly gripes and complaints for a living, and people only taking notice when they've reason to complain, I've now THREE times come away with a positive experience of their service and feel compelled to write a review about a security company that presents a fit, well kept, and professional appearance that stands to challenge the negative stereotype of the fat lazy security guard. read more

We were out of town on the weekend and discovered that there was a problem at our construction site back in Marin County that required us to hire a security guard. I have never needed a security guard before but after a quick search discovered that there were quite a few choices. Because it was the weekend and our construction project was on hold until we could get a security guard lined up for Monday morning, I started calling them up. Since it was the weekend, no one answered and after each message I left I began to get more and more worried that I would not be able to get anyone lined up for Monday morning. This company patrols around my apartments along with family and friends events and apartments. I have encountered this company many times and always had an issue. They have a bunch of "guards" who illegally tow cars, place warning stickers on LEGALLY parked cars. They Harass tenants rather then keep them and their property safe. We hired them to help stop car break in's in my neighborhood but they increased crime instead of help. Many of the guards have power trips thinking in they are police officers and don't do their jobs correctly. I dealt with this company and gave them to many chances. I'm an understanding person but until they offer proper service our tenants will not be happy! read more
