The sweet corn is amazing and reasonably priced!

Our family drove and stopped by on our drive from Princeton, NJ to Sharon Springs, NY for a family vacation trip. Barber's Farms is actually open most days in the summer from 10am-5pm, so be sure to check the website. It's about 3 miles south of Middleburgh on Route 30 (about 2 miles south of the Vroman's Nose Hiking Trail area). It's a simple roadside covered stand with fantastic sweet corn. If you have the fortune of driving here in late July or August, you must get the sweet corn. We also picked up some artisan cheese, fresh eggs, and whole milk. They also have fresh vegetables and fruit (melons were great!). Finally, they also have vodka available on weekends from their distillery. Overall, I think Barber's Farm is a lovely roadside stop that has a wide variety of items. The scenic drive along Route 30 passing Vroman's Nose as you drive toward Middleburgh, NY is just lovely. I would definitely recommend a quick stop if you're driving through Schoharie County on vacation!

Barbers has the best winter lettuces, root vegetables and apples. It always feels like a treat when we go there, any time if year

We take the ride every three weeks from June to September for their excellent selection of fruits and vegetables.

Boehm Farm - Taken on 11/13/2022. Also this cider was from somewhere else?

Okay, these were seriously good. When I showed up around 10:30 on a recent Saturday morning, the air smelled of freshly frying donuts. It's always a good sign. And while there were donuts on the counter, when I asked if I could get any hot donuts the clerk went into the back and pulled out some steaming hot specimens. That may not sound like such a big deal, but as we say in this part of the world, it's huge. Hot apple cider donuts are so much better than their room temperature version. Which isn't to say that just because a donut is hot, it will be good. I've had my share of hot and disappointing cider donuts too. The hot apple cider donuts at Boehm Farm were delightful. Perfect? No. But absolutely great. And if you're into exploring the farms and orchards in and around the Capital Region, it's definitely worth your time, as I would put this small, off the beaten path orchard, in the top third of the ones I've visited. Maybe even in the top quarter. More than anything, it makes me think. If Boehm Farm has been hiding in plain sight all these years, how many other excellent orchards remain to be discovered by those relatively recent arrivals to the region? Farms! We've got 'em. And you should visit and support as many of our regional growers as possible. Remember: no farms, no food. Plus, they are charming and magical places. Especially in the fall.

They were fine because there were very few customers this time... the bakery is good, there are some treats and a few full size pies that were delicious. Great place for kids, lots of open space.

When people are relaxed, they will stay longer and buy more things. I wasn't dealing with the porta potties- um, just no. I noticed lots of kids here and they had to go to the restroom. I enjoyed an apple cider slushee while picking fresh apples during a sunny fall day. We had to purchase a half-bushel bag. Mother Nature at her best! I tasted several varieties of apples in the orchards: Empire, macoun, mac, golden delicious, red delicious, Fuji and gala. The empires and the golden delicious are the best- tasting out of the different varieties available here. Take a look at my photos-- so serene and worth the drive up here from NYC! In hindsight, I should have taken a wagon and apple picking stick with me, but I was so happy with the slushee and just walking around, I wasn't really thinking about picking the best apples. As for the goodies I bought: Excellent apple pie with a short-bread type crust and tart but sweet apples. Very delicious and fresh! Seneca Granny Smith apple chips-- never tried this variety- tart and crisp. Apple Pastry stick: I say don't bother with this one. It left a coating in my mouth of greasy weird shortening. I bake my own apple pies with real butter and I don't get this kind of coating with my own pies: Not sure what they use here but don't get this. All in all, a great bakery and orchard.
